Guest Askewniverse Posted May 8, 2004 Report Posted May 8, 2004 DVDAnswers.com has received some details on the Goodfellas: Special Edition DVD, which is scheduled to be released on August 17th as a 2-disc set. Details so far: -anamorphic widescreen transfer -Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack -commentary with Martin Scorsese and cast/crew -commentary with Henry Hill and ex-FBI agent Edward McDonald -four new documentaries I'll definitely be picking this up. Goodfellas is one of my favorite movies and I'm glad it's finally getting proper treatment on DVD.
Guest Choken One Posted May 8, 2004 Report Posted May 8, 2004 Agreed. Although off topic...anyone ever get annoyed when movies have the names on top with the pictures of those said people but never in the right order...like how it says De Niro above Liotta's head and vice versa.
Guest OctoberBlood Posted May 8, 2004 Report Posted May 8, 2004 Looks like I'll ebay my current DVD. Goodfellas is GREAT. I'm happy to see "4 new documentaries"! Should be good.
NoCalMike Posted May 8, 2004 Report Posted May 8, 2004 I wonder if there was any alternate endings filmed, along with some deleted scenes?
Ravenbomb Posted May 8, 2004 Report Posted May 8, 2004 -commentary with Henry Hill and ex-FBI agent Edward McDonald that's what interests me
KingPK Posted May 8, 2004 Report Posted May 8, 2004 I wonder if there was any alternate endings filmed, along with some deleted scenes? Deleted scenes, sure, but I don't think there would be an alternate ending, since it's based on a true story and all. I mean, Henry isn't going to say "fuck Witness Protection" and kill De Niro's character or anything.
Mole Posted May 8, 2004 Report Posted May 8, 2004 I'll defiently get this. I hate the fact that Ray is the main character and he is the to the side.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted May 8, 2004 Report Posted May 8, 2004 Glad I haven't bought the crappy edition yet...
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted May 8, 2004 Report Posted May 8, 2004 ^I concur. Exactly. | A great film on a great DVD. I'll bite.
teke184 Posted May 8, 2004 Report Posted May 8, 2004 -commentary with Henry Hill and ex-FBI agent Edward McDonald that's what interests me My question would be "What's up with Henry now?" I know that he sold the rights to his Witness Protection Program story to Warner Brothers, which is how we ended up with the supremely underrated "My Blue Heaven" with Steve Martin. What I don't know is if he went back to jail a la Sammy "The Bull" Gravano for getting back into "the life" or if he got probation.
Guest thebigjig Posted May 9, 2004 Report Posted May 9, 2004 about FUCKING time... I wonder when we'll get a special edition re-release of Raging Bull?
