After Silverchair released 'Frogstomp they gradually made their own sound. 'Diorama' is 100% different to 'Frogstomp'. There's a lot more experimentation.

 

Sort of off topic, I think they will split up soon. Daniel wants to be composing music for films by the time he reaches 30 and he's frustrated with touring.

I agree. A lot of their stuff after it was emo, and when it was harder, it was for a certain track and/or messsage. Frogstomp is a great album.

 

Didn't they already split up, with Daniel now in The Dissociatives?

well considering just about all Top 40 country is either stadium sounding over produced trash with a bit of Twang mixed in, OR the "innocent girl" in tight jeans and a bare midriff, singing STRAIGHT POP songs with a twangy accent, yeah I'd say the whole country genre has sold out.

 

It is pretty crazy how amazing country music sounded, and the comedy in the lyrical conent from songs in the golden eras of the genre. Compare that to modern day country and it makes you want to gag.

They haven't officially yet, they are on a hiatus.

There's still grimy country out there, it's just all in bars and basements and shit. Pop country is vile. Everyone is after a crossover hit, which means they write the most middling vague shit possible, to try to hook the biggest catch of suckers. Toby Keith is also the worst musician on the planet.
