alfdogg Posted May 8, 2004 Report Posted May 8, 2004 Here I've already got $5 down on it for GC...I'll have it on June 23, when it's released at GameStop (FuncoLand, Babbages, etc) stores in Indianapolis. Discuss.
Guest The Notorious CRD Posted May 8, 2004 Report Posted May 8, 2004 I'll most likely pick it up for my Gamecube. Anyone know if the GC and GBA versions have any connectivity extras?
Downhome Posted May 9, 2004 Report Posted May 9, 2004 I'll have it for my PS2 also, and will also get the GBA game.
Star Ocean 3 Posted May 9, 2004 Report Posted May 9, 2004 The Gamecube version will apparently be superior, so I'll get that one.
DrVenkman PhD Posted May 9, 2004 Report Posted May 9, 2004 Which ever one doesn't have the cartoon but has the history is the one I'll get.
Aero Posted May 9, 2004 Report Posted May 9, 2004 The Gamecube version will apparently be superior, so I'll get that one. I plan on getting it for either system, but how is Gamecube better?
DrVenkman PhD Posted May 9, 2004 Report Posted May 9, 2004 Which ever one doesn't have the cartoon but has the history is the one I'll get. So, to answer my own question: PS2: • 10 Mega Man games on one disc! • Footage fromthe original Mega Man TV series • Over 30original artwork selections • Remixed music tracks inspired by the series and more! GameCube: • 10 Mega Man games on one disc! • Extensive interview with Mega Man’s creator! • Learn about the History of the Mega Man • Over 30 original artwork selections • Remixed music tracks inspired by the series and more! So, yeah, to me the Cube one sounds better, especially if "Original Mega Man TV series" means the American super fighting robot show and not some rare Japanese anime clips.
AndrewTS Posted May 9, 2004 Report Posted May 9, 2004 I already preordered it for PS2...oh hell, if I really want to see that other stuff I can rent the GC version sometime. I'm unsure right now if I'm keeping my GameCube.
The Czech Republic Posted May 9, 2004 Report Posted May 9, 2004 This better have elevated graphics for the games, and not like Final Fantasy Anthology. I can download NES ROMs for free.
alfdogg Posted May 11, 2004 Author Report Posted May 11, 2004 If the preview thing at Wal-Mart is any indication, I don't think it does.
Lil' Bitch Posted May 11, 2004 Report Posted May 11, 2004 I always did wonder why they stopped at 8. You figured they would have made 9 by now. Ah well, I'll get it.
Guest SpiderFan Posted May 11, 2004 Report Posted May 11, 2004 This better have elevated graphics for the games, and not like Final Fantasy Anthology. I can download NES ROMs for free. It doesn't have any new graphics, they're just straight ports of the NES games. I'll be getting this for Gamecube. I'd rather have an interview with the creator and history lessons then some footage of the crappy TV show.
The Metal Maniac Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 I'll be getting it for PS2 because I only have a PS2. It doesn't bother me that I already have the ROMS for all these games on my PC...I'd like to be able to play in my room, where it's comfortable...
Anya Posted May 13, 2004 Report Posted May 13, 2004 I doubt the history thing will actually be cool. It will probably be a weaksauce overview that doesn't actually say anything interesting or accurate, like the Zelda or MK histories.

They actually did make 9, but it was only released in Japan. You can get an emulator version, though. It's called Rockman & Forte.
DrVenkman PhD Posted May 13, 2004 Report Posted May 13, 2004 They also released it here for the GBA last year with the American names (Megaman and Bass).
AndrewTS Posted May 13, 2004 Report Posted May 13, 2004 They also released it here for the GBA last year with the American names (Megaman and Bass). Also, it sucks. It was decent at best on Super Famicom, but they cropped the screen all to hell on the GBA version, so you can't see **** in front of you and leap to your death or into enemy fire constantly.
Anya Posted May 13, 2004 Report Posted May 13, 2004 Megaman & Bass isn't MM9...it's a side game. It doesn't even have completely original bosses.
AndrewTS Posted May 13, 2004 Report Posted May 13, 2004 Megaman & Bass isn't MM9...it's a side game. It doesn't even have completely original bosses. It's more like a really ambitious MUGEN project, since I don't think there's an original sprite to be seen in it.
Anya Posted May 14, 2004 Report Posted May 14, 2004 "really ambitious MUGEN project" can be applied to a bunch of Capcom projects. In Capcom's defense the main villain King was new. Of course you do end up fighting Wily...in nearly the exact same final forms he had in MM7 and 8....but still. At least the fake final boss was something original.
AndrewTS Posted May 14, 2004 Report Posted May 14, 2004 "really ambitious MUGEN project" can be applied to a bunch of Capcom projects. Including this: Capcom has released details on Capcom Fighting Jam. The game features characters from SFII, SFIII, SF Alpha, Darkstalkers, Red Earth, and CFAS. A 2-on-2 system is used in the game, you can use the character change system to choose a combatant for each round of the battle.... http://www.the-magicbox.com/0405/game051204s.shtml Poor Felicia, using what is now nearly a TEN YEAR OLD sprite. *sigh* Come on, Capcom, SNK--RE-DRAW THESE CHARACTERS ALREADY!!!
DrVenkman PhD Posted May 14, 2004 Report Posted May 14, 2004 MUGEN, eh? *googling in progress* Oh, "Mugen is a fighting game engine where you can create your own character I mean really creating them ... not just changing the character's clothes or colour ... but defining the attack, the sprite, etc." Understood.
