Every theatre I've been in has booed the trailer or audibly groaned.

And no, I'm NOT exaggerating.

Personally, I thought the thing was hilarious. As soon as it first started, I turned to my sister and said "CHUCKY MOVIE. I bet 10 bucks it's a Chucky movie"

And I was right. Everyone in my theatre laughed and said they were goin to see the Seed of Chucky.

And didn't I have a thread about this a few weeks ago? :P

Well Mask 2 is well deserving of it.

People doing it to Seed of Chucky, just tells me there's a bunch of overserious jackoffs that can't appreciate what Seed is meant to be.

Agreed, I remember when I first saw the Freddy V/S Jason trailer in the theatre, nothing but laughter and stupid comments all around, bleh

I'm looking forward to this one. I've also got to agree with Satanico...for a movie that's priding itself on not taking itself seriously, no one should be complaining about it. We know it's not gonna win an Oscar...just go have a good time watching it.

Of course, I can't say I'm surprised by some people laughing at it or groaning at it. It's a movie for people who have an appreciation for B movies and most people don't.

That's odd. People liked the "Freddy vs. Jason" trailer in all the theatres I was in. But that's probably because people have been talking about the concept for so long. It was a "Dream Match," so to speak.

As for the people groaning during "Seed", I think it has more to do with the general public being tired of all the sequels of the "Child's Play" story. I myself can appreciate good camp. Not all camp is entertaining, though.

I can appreciate the sequels on the grounds that I like cheesy/campy/bad movies, and am a horror buff on top of it. However, the sequels to Child's Play have taken a different turn, so you're not getting the same cookie cutter Chucky story. Sure, he's still a killer doll, but did you think back in 1988 that 15 years later, he'd still be around, only this time on a killing spree with his formerly human girlfriend and have a doll-spawn who's gender confused AND trying to live the good life while coping with the fact that his parents are murders? The series has become more horror/comedy than anything.

But Bride of Chucky is the only one that's been released in recent years (1998). Child's Play 3 was all the way back in 1991. That's 13 years ago.

I was just using the name "Child's Play" to describe the entire series.
