Styles 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 I hadn't listen to my Testament CDs in a long while, and was listening to New Order the other day and thinking there's not one bad song on that album, and that it stacks up with any of the typical metal classics from the 80s. And now I'm listening to LOW, and I just can't get over how hard yet melodic this album is. Chuck Billy's voice just lends itself so well to the songs, growling on Hail Mary and then melodic on Trail of Tears (a fucking great "metal ballad"). I really want to get The Gathering now. Anyway, besides their approx. 4 billion lineup changes (I don't think Rainman could name every memeber of Testament without consulting the internet), what are some of the other metalhead fans' thoughts on this band, and what you all feel seperated them from the breakout sucess of Metallica and Slayer. Was it the lack of consistency? Or just lack of innovation?
haVoc 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 I loved Testament. I listened to "Practice" just last week but I lost most interest in them after "Souls of Black." Losing Alex Skolnick was a big hit.

Guest OldSchoolCarnage Report post Posted May 10, 2004 I've been a huge Testament fan since I was a kid. Some of the best musicians in that scene came through Testament at one time or another. Its safe to say that Thrash wouldn't be the same had it not been for Testament. Just look at the influenece they're still having on bands like Shadows Fall. Guest Blas Report post Posted May 10, 2004 Shadows Fall? That's an insult to Testament! Testament has always been one of my favorite bay area thrash bands, I like them better than Metallica. Always good shit, never got the chance to see them live. Chuck Billy is also the gayest name ever.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 Give them their due Okay One of my fav thrash bands, period. I even listen to them more than Metallica (course I listen to a lot of metal bands more than Metallica)
Styles 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2004 Chuck Billy is also the gayest name ever. Yes, but the great thing about it is you'd never say it to his face since he sounds like he could rip your face off. Good to hear Chuck's recovered from the cancer. I wonder if him, Peterson, and the rest of the band (i.e. what ever studio musicians or ex members of Death, Slayer, Dark Angel, etc. that are avaliable) will record a new album soon? Guest OldSchoolCarnage Report post Posted May 12, 2004 Shadows Fall? That's an insult to Testament! I'm not even gonna ask why, but like Shadows Fall or not you'd have to be deaf not to hear the Testament influence.
