So, i have a CDR that contained about 20 soundboard recordings from KISS, The Gene Simmons Van Halen demos, and a rare Iggy Pop show from 73.

I had the disc labeled with a post it note, i went to play it today and took off the post it note and the sticky part tore off the fucking entire half of the CD! , there was nothing left, not playable, over, done with.

I can probably never find that Iggy Pop show again.

Maybe he just got some really hardcore post-it notes.

Wait...it tore off part of the CD?? How? Did you stick it on the bottom of the CD?

he stuck it to the top and it tore off the layer that the information is on.

It did this because he has cheap ass CDRs or he bought those post-its that have duct tape at the top instead of the regular sticky stuff.

No shit man, how is that even possible?

The only thing I can think of is either REALLY shoddy craftsmanship with the cds, or else the adhesive had some kind of chemical reaction with the disc. Either way, if it's wrecked it's wrecked. As much as it sucks to lose something rare, I just can't bring myself to mourn the loss of a Kiss album. My live Tool bootleg from San Diego, however..oh man. I was hot for a couple days after I broke that like a dumbshit.

The CDR was a TDK, so i guess it was cheap. I used those new super sticky notes and put it on top of the CD(not the bottom). I could care less for the 20 soundboard recordings(i can get those again, but will take awhile), but my damn VH demos and that Iggy Pop show make me angry.

I've bought plastic sleeves for the rest of my discs, no more sticky notes.

Maybe its karma for being a Latrell Sprewell "mark".

That sucks. I've had marker eat through the top of TDK's.

What the hell does that have to do with anything?

If someone had irreplacable audio recordings on a CD, you'd assume they would buy some CD jewel cases. You'd also think they would've made copies to listen to, while keeping their original copy in the safety of a jewel case in a cool dry place.

Paul, it's too late, but you should've just put the disc in a case and labeled that.

Well why the hell didn't you? It was the obvious thing to do.

The stickyness on the sticker alone would've affected the data's reading.

You might be able to find someone/with something that can read and retrieve the data, but I don't like your chances if it's been torn-off.
