NWA / WCW Results Site

Recommended Posts

I'm kinda surprised no one has started one up by now but I'm wondering what kind of interest there would be for an NWA / WCW results site similar to my own which covers the W/WWF/E.

By no means am I offering to do it myself (I'm busy enough as it is) but I would be happy to help lay a foundation for whoever shows the drive and initiative to put a site together.

I have a truck load of results from magazines, Observers, tapes, and the like and - given some free time - would be willing to share.

Anyone? Bueller?

cawthorn, I would actually like to do this.

I'm in a college, a diehard fan, and its summer....

So what the hell. I'm pretty good with designing graphics/websites, and would like to collect lots of information, especially rarer results that I don't have access to.

Eddie,

Thanks for the response and I did get your e-mail as well. I'm out of town at the moment but when I get back and once you have the time to set a website up, let me know and I'll shoot you some info. I posted this on several other forums as well so hopefully enough people get interested so that this can be a doable thing.

Jim Crockett Promotions and WCW from 91 to 01 wouldn't be impossible to do ... but all the NWA stuff that came before then would give any one man a headache if not a migrane.

Graham

Once you go into the 80s, I suggest you take up drinking lots and lots of alcohol.

Well if you just focus on Jim Crockett Promotions and don't get all caught up in Florida, Toronto, Georgia, etc then you should be fine. To do all the NWA territories at once would kill the average man.

Cawthon, your site's one of if not THE best WWF/E site out there. To initiate a WCW sister site would be beyond all coolness. Complete ECW, ROH, Smoky Mountain etc sites I'm guessing wouldn't be ALL that hard to do if anyone had the time and inclination to enter all the data together in one place. If you can get the plates moving towards all this, I think you'd be able to graduate from wrestling-historian-in-training towards full-fledged wrestling-historian, chief. I'd love to help myself, but unfortunately lack the technical know-how. Good luck once you get back into the quagmire of the 80's and beyond.

I can give information WCW World Wide shows from 8/91 until 92 (the show currently airs weekly in the UK), but they never announce the location. I guess PWI announced all the locations in their magazines. The show is currently about to go into 2/92.

I can also give information on times and finishes for all the matches that have aired

Richard,

Yeah, that would be great. Even if it takes a while to find out the taping dates and locations, the match results would be a big help.

Here's an idea ...

Until an actual website is created, how about - for those who are interested - go ahead and post some results in this thread. You get bonus points for details (finishes, times, managers, etc).

Without having any tapes, magazines with me at the moment, I'll start on memory:

WCW @ Baltimore, MD - Arena - August 2 (?), 1992

Cactus Jack defeated Ricky Steamboat via count-out

Nikita Koloff fought WCW US Champion Rick Rude to a no contest when both Sting, who did guest commentary for the bout, and Cactus Jack interfered following a referee bump; after the bout, Jake Roberts made his surprise debut by coming out of the crowd, attacking Sting, and hitting a DDT onto a steel chair; as a result of the attack, Sting was taken out of his scheduled world title match later in the evening

Ron Simmons (sub. for Sting) pinned WCW World Champion Big Van Vader (w/ Harley Race) with a powerslam to win the title; Simmons' name was drawn at random prior to the match as a stand-in for Sting

WCW @ Baltimore, MD - Arena - December 1992

Big Van Vader pinned WCW World Champion Ron Simmons to win the title following a shoulder breaker

Clash of the Champions - Milwaukee, WI - Mecca - January 1993

Chris Benoit pinned Brad Armstrong with a dragon suplex (Benoit's singles debut)

WCW / NWA Tag Team Champions Ricky Steamboat & Shane Douglas defeated Steve Austin & Brian Pillman via disqualification when the referee saw one of the challengers hit Douglas in the head with a title belt, busting him open, as Douglas had a roll up cover on the other opponent; after the bout, 2 Cold Scorpio, Marcus Bagwell, and several others helped make the save for the champions

WCW @ London, England - March 1993

WCW TV Champion Paul Orndorff pinned Michael Hayes with the piledriver

Maxx Payne pinned Cactus Jack

WCW US Champion Dustin Rhodes vs. NWA World Champion Barry Windham

Davey Boy Smith defeated Rick Rude via disqualification

Sting pinned WCW World Champion Big Van Vader to win the title after powerslamming the champion off the top rope

WCW @ Dublin, Ireland - March 1993

Johnny B. Badd pinned Scotty Flamingo

Van Hammer defeated Maxx Payne

WCW TV Champion Paul Orndorff pinned Michael Hayes with the piledriver

Davey Boy Smith pinned Vinnie Vegas with the running powerslam

WCW US Champion Dustin Rhodes fought NWA World Champion Barry Windham to a no contest when both men began brawling on the floor before the match began

Rick Rude pinned Cactus Jack with the Rude Awakening after Cactus failed a top rope attack

Big Van Vader pinned WCW World Champion Sting to win the title with the powerbomb after the champion hit his head on the steel ring post while attempting a Stinger Splash

Give me a day or two and I'll post what I have (I've got kind of a collection of files from various different feds and will include any NWA/WCW results I can find). I'll focus on my WCW/JCP stuff for now, but I have pretty much every Buddy Rogers NWA title defense as well for later on.

UPDATE!

I've got every PPV/Clash/International/Internet Real Audio Webcast/NY/Major Show for WCW done.

I'm in the process of creating a SLICK-LOOKING, Easy to Use Website on the History of WCW. Once the barebones are upfor all the WCW crap, I'll start on the NWA (grabs the Aspirin) and add the more technical stuff for WCW, too.

Thanks for ANYONE that can help me with this, I hope you'll be proud and find it useful! I hope to have as much info. one day as Cawthon's amazing site.

-Eddie

P.S. Any info, you can email me at [email protected], once I get it up and running you'll all be credited!

Stumbled upon this gem today.

Houston, TX - October 13, 1978

Tiger Conway Jr drew White Knight

Al Madril beat Bill White by disqualification

Coconut Willie & Cowboy Lang beat Billy The Kid & Little Tokyo

Suzette Ferriara beat Joyce Grable

Gino Hernandez beat David Von Erich

Bruiser Brody beat Rocky Johnson

AWA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Bockwinkel beat Dusty Rhodes

Andre The Giant battled NWA World Heavyweight Champion Harley Race to a double countout.

Apparently Race bodyslammed Andre during that match.

Just an added note, there's a This Day in Mid Atlantic Wrestling thread over on Kayfabe Memories' message board. Plenty of useful info in there.

Hey...anyone have early (91-94) WCW non-televised house results? I've got a handful, plus a ton of PWI/WCW Magazine results I'm doing...any help would work for WCW specifically first.

I have several house show tapes in addition to a ton of Observers, PWI, and PWI Weeklies from that time period. I'll post as soon as I get back to college this weekend.

www.TheHistoryofWCW.com is opening soon.:)

All registered. Coming shortly.

Hey man. I just checked out your site and it's off to a great start. Just one critique: It is very hard to read the results the way you have formated them. I would suggest maybe getting rid of the double spacing and making the results have a bigger font. Also, maybe bold the event title to help seperate the events.

Keep up the awesome work though!

DrDrainoScott, thanks for the interest.

Please understand that the font size you see, and spacing, etc. are not necessarily the final look.

The HTML is being edited...

*** Souled Out 1997 <---14 point font

Blah blah, Date, Arena, Location <--- 12 point font

1. Jack Ass defeated Vader. <--- 12 point font

2. Sting defeated Dick Slater. <---12 point font.

etc.

Is the format it should read.

I'm trying to get the HTML to read correctly. Don't worry.
