DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2004 I know some of you guys just want to make sure your stuff is always the first thing on the page, but, as someone who has never used it (and was told not to), I hate it. Sure, it's fine that the Judgment Day review is on top, that's one article, and I could plainly see underneath it that JHawk had posted his Raw recap. The problem is when you have one thing pinned, then another, then another. Did we really need Simpsons Season One to be the first article in the list for a week? When more than one article is pinned, I tend to think nothing new has been posted. Lazy? Yeah, but if I go to the site on, say, May 20th, and the first thing I see is dated May 16th, I'm going to automatically assume nothing new has been written and click on the Forums link. Example: We have a similar problem at work where memos are posted in a book out of date, and if the first memo is dated "May 10th", I'm not going to check behind it to see if any old memos have been retro-added.. that's just a waste of my time. That's just my opinion on the whole thing.
Dr. Tom 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2004 I agree, to a point. Special-interest pieces should be pinned for a few days. After that, they can fall back into general rotation. For any TSM writers who may not have known: everything you write does not automatically get pinned. In fact, you shouldn't be using the pin feature. If you think your article should be pinned, PM, AIM, or email me or Dames and plead your case. We're both reasonable fellows.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2004 Well, we don't have a TON of content constantly posted (like 411 and its 156 writers), so my stuff usually stays on the main page for about a week, and I'm happy with that. I always have a link to my latest recap in my sig, anyway.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted May 18, 2004 I think that Pop Culture stuff should just go down the list when something new is posted. Seeing as the site's focal point is wrestling, TV reports, commentaries, etc. should stay pinned for a few days or so, TV reports especially due to the fact that they are relied upon. Interpret that however you want.
Cran Da Maniac 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2004 Why not come up with 2 different lists on the front page, one for Wrestling Articles, another for Pop Culture stuff?
