Enigma Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 I don't understand how updates on Scott Keith's life belong in the WWE thread.
Use Your Illusion Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 No seriously, can we ban him? We need to bring back public lynchings. Ah, that takes me back. UYI
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 I've got the Pikes, Stones, and torches. You bring the tunes.
Guest Anglesault Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 Am I the only one who likes the fact that SK quit recapping SD because it was so crappy? I stopped watching a month ago because of the same reasons. I haven't watched a full show in a good 8 months, and with baseball going now, 've seen about a half an hour total in two months. Basebal>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Smackdown.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 and yet you manage to constantly harp on everything wrong with SD. You're superhuman. And I'm not getting this talk of Bradshaw having a "Fresh" Gimmick. He's a racist rich guy. Oh boy that's fresh alright.
Guest Anglesault Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 and yet you manage to constantly harp on everything wrong with SD. You're superhuman. Alot less now. I like to keep up with the show through spoilers and whatnot just in case they do something right. When they do something hideous, I feel the need to say something as well.
Guest Loss Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 To clarify, in case anyone has any questions about it, feel free to start a thread discussing a wrestling-related opinion Scott Keith has. Feel free to mention SK as a reference if you're actually starting a topic that relates directly to WWE. However, please refrain from starting threads about his life or recapping habits. That's why 411's board exists and that's why he as a blog, I'd presume. I've seen this discussion go both ways. If this is a discussion about how Smackdown is so bad recappers are jumping off, that's fine. If this was started as a Scott Keith life update, it's need to be closed. I'll keep this open a little while longer, because there is *some* show quality discussion going on in here. However, if it turns into an SK-bashing thread, I'll close it out. If anyone needs clarification on this rule or has any questions, please feel free to PM me any questions. Thanks for your cooperation. Now, as you were ...
TheBigSwigg Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 RVD can't do heel. At all. He sucks at being a heel I would argue that, as he had a great heel run in ECW. It beats the crap out of the stoned jackass face he's played since being in WWE
Guest PowerPB13 Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 MYTH: Scott's last name is spelled "Kieth". (Sorry, someone had to say it.) Wonder how long it'll be before they end the brand extension on the grounds that the Smackdown crew "can't cut it". -Patrick

Doing that would be seen him as making the intial mistake. Vince don't like being proven wrong... . He thought it was a good Idea leaving Brother love as head writer for Smackydown.
OldSchoolWrestling Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 I commend Loss for handling this thread in that matter rather than just closing it. As for SD, I don't understand how Vince would just let his show tank when just a year ago it was the much better of the shows. Its not like he took over a WCW show and of course is going to treat it like a stepchild. He has 2 brands and wants them both to succeed, yet isn't giving off that impression.

Perhaps in his 50's Vinnie just don't have the Stamnia to oversee the handling of both shows.

If you remember back then, there were reports that Vince still thought Raw was the better show, even when SD was consistently beating Raw every week in ratings & quality.
Guest MikeSC Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 RVD can't do heel. At all. He sucks at being a heel I would argue that, as he had a great heel run in ECW. It beats the crap out of the stoned jackass face he's played since being in WWE WWE TRIED to have him as a heel and he tanked. And ECW fans cheered him more than booed. The man doesn't generate anger as he doesn't seem to care about anything. -=Mike
cabbageboy Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 Actually no. RVD has never played a heel in WWE, not even during the Invasion. If you recall when he was first signed the WWF still had ideas about a WCW show, and thus would need top faces for it. RVD would likely have been one. Thus, the announcers played up a few guys like Kidman and RVD as being acceptable to cheer. At the very least they never told him to go out and do outright heel behavior. Believe me, I've seen his ECW work from 1996-98 or so, and he was pretty much an asshole heel. Even when he was the top face in ECW he still pretty much acted like a heel and had a heel manager, Sabu to run in for him, and cut cocky promos on his opponent. All RVD would need is a manager to play off of (Heyman, Teddy Long, whoever) and he would be great as a heel.
nl5xsk1 Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 And I'm not commenting on Bradshaw's work because, honestly, I've not seen a single match he's been involved in since his SD ME push began. I am not going to hold his past against him as, well, Undertaker definitely hits grooves after bouts of suckitude. Is his gimmick racist? Absolutely. Can you think of a better way to get an evil, business tycoon over than having him be a total racist and prick? If anything, I'd like them to up the ante on the racist gimmick ... as long as he LOSES at the end, it's not a problem in my eyes. Will it offend? Yes, but I think it will in the way that VKM wanted the Katie Vick angle to go down. Rather than people saying "this offends me as a wrestling fan" people might say "this offends me as a person". Plus, if done correctly, it can keep Bradshaw out of the ring. Like the AWA did with Col. Debeers, have him say that he's 'above' wrestling minorities, and instead just attack them post match. Ultimately, Eddie destroys him in a PPV match and he slides back down the card. Put him in mid-card feuds with Orlando Jordan, etc, and then fire him (or move him behind the scenes or whatever).
