Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted May 22, 2004 Lately I've been taping this series on one of the Action Movie channels, and was wondering a few things. First, how long does it run? I've taped the last 9 episodes, and they've only introduced the main characters (Ken, Ryu, and Chun-Li to an extent) and only a few of the minor characters. Second...did they really need to animate Ken's naked BUTT? I'd much rather see Chun-Li naked. I don't know of the SF games ever had any real plots, but if so, is the series true to it (or true enough that it's not completely different?) Any help is appreciated...as well as opinions on the series
eiker_ir 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2004 i loved this series and watched all the episodes years ago when they first showed it here. I think it's like 30 episodes total. My favorite part is from the moment they start learning the Hadou and powers till the end. You should also check Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie, i think it's closer to the plot of the games than the show, but it's pretty close too.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2004 I believe there are 29 episodes.. and I think one is a clip show. Your main plot difference in V, IIRC, is that the main heroes (except Guile) are all teenagers. It's not as good as the SFII animated movie, but much better than the story re-telling in the live action film.
Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2004 according to TV Tome, there were 55 episodes, but only the first 26 were aired
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted May 22, 2004 I think I remember seeing the Animated Movie once, but it's almost never on anymore. I'd say it's a hell of a lot better than the Movie with Jean Claude (trying t talk with a straight american acent) and Raul Julia (Gomez Addams is a Street Fighter?!). Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2004 To answer the thread's questions, there were 29 episodes. And its basically a What If story of how Ryu and Ken became Street Fighters. While not really true to the story, its fun to watch until near the end of the series when they won't stop fucking showing recycled animation frames. Almost everybody from the II cast is in it except for Blanka, E. Honda, T. Hawk, and Dee Jay. And watching it on DVD is fucking hilarious as the English subtitles do not at all even come close to the English dub lines. Its definitely worth watching though as the fight scenes were pretty good. And Ken's flaming Shoryuken is beautiful animation with dramatic music added with it that brought a tear to my eye.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted May 23, 2004 ugh, don't watch movies on Cartoon Network IIRC, the Animated Movie had some adult language (nothing extreme, maybe a few shits and god-damns), so it would suck to have that removed.
eiker_ir 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2004 i don't know if they edited the swearing, i guess they did cuz it's CN, but it's nothing major. Its definitely worth watching though as the fight scenes were pretty good. And Ken's flaming Shoryuken is beautiful animation with dramatic music added with it that brought a tear to my eye. what i love about the V series is that they don't overdoit with the special powers. I like it that they actually have to concentrate and stay focused for the Hadoken/Shoryuken to happen. And just Ryu, Ken & Bison have that kind of powers. It makes it feel really powerful and special. Ken's Shoryuken is my favorite one of the bunch.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2004 ugh, don't watch movies on Cartoon Network IIRC, the Animated Movie had some adult language (nothing extreme, maybe a few shits and god-damns), so it would suck to have that removed. There were also two versions released. The uncut one, which contains some pretty coarse language (but cut Chun-Li taking shower!), and the one without the bad language. according to TV Tome, there were 55 episodes, but only the first 26 were aired Probably the SF series on the USA network. The SFIIV anime ended where it ended, with no real storyline direction to go on for another 26 episodes afterward. Obviously in the world of television that means nothing, but as already been said, it was 29 episodes, and it ended there.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2004 Did'nt this V series have Ken & Ryu getting into a bar fight with some american military guys which led to a fight with Guile?
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2004 Yep. Going purely by memory on the character's V presentations (never a good idea when the internet is right here to help)... Ken / Ryu: Teenagers, touring the world to fight. Essentially their animated movie selves but younger. The twist of this scenario is (and I don't know if Spoiler Tags are necessary for 8 year old things, but just incase) Ryu is the one who turns evil, and it is Ken that must save him from Bison's grip. Chun-Li / Dad: Chun-Li's dad is very much alive in this series and works for Interpol. Chun-Li, like Ken and Ryu, is just a teenager. I believe her job was being a tour guide, so she takes Ken and Ryu around town. M. Bison: Same guy he always is. Vega: Essentially his SFII Animated movie character, but not an employee of Bison, and more into woo'ing Chun-Li than killing her. Fights with Ken over her. Guile: Same guy, fights Ken and Ryu in a bar and schools the teenage punks. I THINK, and am not sure, that he works alongside Charlie Nash in the series, but it may just be a generic soldier, or never happened at all. Guile is hired to find Ken by Mr. Masters (the family is rich) at some point in the series. Fei-Long: Teenager, hangs out with Chun-Li and the guys. Chun-Li's dad is portrayed as his mentor in the series. Cammy: Hired assassin. Except for the ones previously mentioned as not being in the series, the rest appear as bit characters. Except Sagat, who I'm sure did something important, but I don't remember it. The story also tries to explain the origin of Bison's psycho powers. I didn't really care for their answer, but it wasn't awful or anything. It seemed simple enough, but I may have been reading too much into Bison being portrayed as someone who is only evil because his eagle head statue commands it. Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted May 25, 2004 Question of the millenium....do we get to see Chun-Li naked? I had to suffer seeing Ken's somewhat freakishly muscled ass, so they better balance this out.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2004 Almost, but not quite.

And Sagat fought Ryu in prison, he was the king of Mue Thai and everybody worshipped him, etc. He and Ryu ended respecting each other unlike in the movie and original story where Sagat really hates Ryu for making the signature scar in his chest.
