Guest Sykotic2002 Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 Does anybody know if they have released any of the series on DVD yet?
OldSchoolWrestling Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 No, hasn't been released yet. I've never seen the show but I've been taping reruns of Angel on TNT so I usually catch the very beginning of the show. What are your thoughts on it? Is it a Buffy type show?
LaParkaYourCar Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 From what I've seen it's not really like Buffy. It takes a different, more light hearted approach to witches than Buffy did. You probably won't see anything nearly as dark as the "Dark Willow Saga" (no pun intended) from Buffy on Charmed.
OldSchoolWrestling Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 Does the hotness of the witches make up for the light hearted approach?
LaParkaYourCar Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 I guess it does as long as Alyssa Milano can stick with a haircut that is actually flattering. I don't really watch the show regularly. In fact what I see are beginnings and endings to episodes while waiting for Angel episodes. Sometimes I come in early and see a good 15 minutes and once I even watched a whole episode. The show is alright. It can become quite cheesy at times, but I guess I'm just used to Buffy/Angel.
razazteca Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 When Shannon Dorety left and was replaced by Rose the show's spankability went up. The show is pure eyecandy with witches.
Ripper Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 Bad writing, bad acting, bad plots with hot women. Basically, its VIP with witches. Some good campy fun if you turn your brain off.
razazteca Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 I think the biggest storyline was the one when on of the sisters got pregnet by the darklord, the spawn of pure evil shall be feared by all!
LaParkaYourCar Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 Wow...stories about hot women getting pregnant. What's the usual age and gender of Charmed's audience? I always thought it seemed like a Teen Girl type show, but I bet more teen guys watch it and don't admit it. I think I read somewhere that Charmed won't be on DVD until next year sometime.
OldSchoolWrestling Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 So is this show a Sabrina the Teenaged Witch with hotties type then?
LaParkaYourCar Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 No I don't think it's THAT campy. It's more fairytale like in it's approach, but not so much that it's a kid's show.
OldSchoolWrestling Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 Then Sykotic needs to explain why he can't wait for the dvd release.
Ripper Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 Its VIP with witches. Thats why he can't wait. I would just get some porno rip off version of it, cause there has to be one, and be done with it. And the acting would be just as good.
LaParkaYourCar Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 Then Sykotic needs to explain why he can't wait for the dvd release. Frame by frame selection and pause on the hotties, add in a zoom feature and he's not coming out of his room for awhile. Actually I'd say Alyssa Milano and Rose McGowan are hot, but the other girl is just mildy pretty.
Guest reekspeak Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 The first season was cool, I liked the dynamic with Andy and Darryl, Alyssa had a ultra hot bop, there was less cheese and the producers took a serious risk with the finale of the season. The rest of the series has seemed to be a mixed bag though, with some bright spots whenever Julian McMahon was involved. I might actually look into season one when it's released.
Anakin Flair Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 It's been scheduald for release later this year. I used to watch it all the time untill the killed off Julian McMahon's character for good, and after that it got super-campy and dull. But the early seasons were pretty good.
LaParkaYourCar Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 Julian McMahon is the guy from Nip-Tuck right?
Ted the Poster Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 I like how Alyssa Milano got a bit sluttier this past season, but I still think HMC is the hottest. The show isn't as cheesy as Sabrina, but at the same time is leagues away from Buffy. So I watch it sometimes, but I only turn the sound on when Rose talks. That is a sexy voice right there.
razazteca Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 Charmed is more or less a "girl power" show for the fanbase who used to watch Xena. If anything this is what the movie Witchcraft would be if it was a tv series and if the girls were out of college a few years.
Anakin Flair Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 Julian McMahon is the guy from Nip-Tuck right? Yes. i beleive Charmed was his first big TV role in the states (He's an Aussie).
JasonX Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 Julian McMahon is the guy from Nip-Tuck right? Yes. i beleive Charmed was his first big TV role in the states (He's an Aussie). Not really. Said actor was on NBC's big crime show "Profiler" during the late 1990s before joining the cast of Charmed. As for DVDs, it's been repeatedly stated that the show has one of those fucked up syndication contracts that has a clause state that X-Amount of time has to pass before the show can be released on DVD. Luckily said clause expires at the end of 2004 and the company that owns the rights to the show has stated that they intend to release the series onto DVD as a top priority...

Actually, I think he did a soap opera over here as well.
Guest Sykotic2002 Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 My brother watches that show everyday and has been looking for it on DVD. So, I was asking to see if had been released yet.
