I voted Liberal, mostly because this riding is a 2 horse race between them and the Conservatives so there's no point in voting for either the NDP or Greens (the only other 2 parties with candidates running here).

I voted Green. Hell, even if they won't win, it's still money in their pocket for their next campaign. In this election, a party that gets 2% of the national vote or 5% in one of their ridings gets $1.75 for every vote.

This is a little frustrating. I live in the riding that was the closest in the country (the Liberal won by 55 votes and there needed to be a recount), but I've been watching Global's coverage and they haven't talked about it at all. CBC's mentioned it a few times and the drop-in from Ottawa on CTV has talked about it, but Christ, you'd think with what was expected to be a close election they'd want to pay attention to what would be a close race.

Well, I think the Conservative dude won here. It's not really surprising, but since it looks like the Liberals are going to win at least a minority it would have been nice to have our MP have a place in the government.

So far it looks like the Liberals have a large minority. I'm sorely disappointed in the electorate right now; Martin now knows he can get away with anything, since we refused to punish his party for 11 years of corruption.

Yep, Canada deserves the Liberals, and they definately deserve to lose even more money and services to being stupid enough to reward the Liberals yet again.

The conservatives would have easily won this election if they had a leader from Quebec or a Bernard Lord type.

 

It's clear that Ontario, Quebec and maritimes will not support western right wing politicians. Manning, Stockwell and Harper have learned that.

 

If Bernard Lord accepted to take the leadership of the Conservative party, he would have easily won at least 20 seats in Quebec and a lot more in Ontario and the maritimes than Harper did.

Randy White isn't exactly some minor nobody. He was Reform House leader for three years, and he was the Justice critic for ages. I'm pretty sure he would have gotten into Harper's cabinet had the Conservatives formed a government, maybe as Attorney General. You can't just ignore the guy as fringe weirdo.

Looks like someone swallowed the provincial propaganda whole. A cursory look at expenditure data will tell you that health expenditures in constant dollars have never decreased in the last fifteen years, and increased substantially in the last five or so.

To all the conservative people.

 

It was suppose to be a balance between the Canadian Alliance, and the Progressive Conservative party, but it became too right-wing for many Canadians to think this was the smartest move for Canada.

 

Atlantic Canada really bailed the Liberals out though, and now with a large minority government, I highly doubt that anyone would outs the Liberals, not even the Bloc.

 

The Bloc/Conservative coalition was just to get the Liberals out of power, other than that, they wouldn't agree on anything.

 

Surprises: Atlantic Canada taking up a lot of Liberal seats, more so than expected. Ontario holding its own with the Liberals, and surprisingly Quebec didn't get 60 seats. NDP getting more seats.

 

Disappointments: Well, Harper manage something that many Conservatives do. Having a better place hold in Ontario, not the stranglehold they wanted, and the Green Party not getting a seat.

I know, I pretty much agree. Someone else was just saying that the comments from White were just "one MP talking about his personal opinions", as opposed to a pretty important cog in the Conservative wheel.
