B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2004 Its good car trip music I can't listen to Tool while on a long trip. I get too into the music every time and lose focus on the road. I listen to fast, loud, heavy, aggressive tunes when on road trips. Tool and Pink Floyd spell doom for me on the road.

Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 2, 2004 AC/DC is good car music... TOOL isn't...unless your driving off a cliff.
MrRant 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2004 I went alright because I like them a lot but I don't think I would consider them awesome.
notJames 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2004 Definitely awesome, for all the reasons everyone stated and more. If all you look for in Tool are radio-friendly singles, then you're better off listening to something else. If you can enjoy albums as a whole rather than as a collection of songs, then I think you can appreciate Tool a lot more than most.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2004 I enjoy Tool mainly for their musicianship, especially Justin Chancellor on Bass.
cue_meanie 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2004 ^Wow, Somebody giving Justin props doesn't happen often, but thats just because of the pure AWESOMENESS of everyone else involved in the band. In my experience the people that don't like Tool, either dismiss immediatly as angry, or are to busy bopping there head to J-Kwon, or whatever other crappy psuedo-rap is plaguing the airwaves at that moment. Tool is quite simply the best All-around band right now and in the last 10 years, they are the Chris Benoit (pre title win) of music, huge fan base of people who love what music is actually about and not crappy pop garbage. For the person, who said the fans ruin it for you, I can understand not liking the intense hardcore fans, of which I am one, however, fans shouldn't affect how YOU personally feel when listening to the music, just get a CD and sit yourself by yourself and stop thinking about what other people think. As a sidenote, has anyone seen Danny Carey's all gold drumset, he used it at the show at the ACC in Sept 01 and it was absurdly sexy.
Guest Real F'n Show Report post Posted June 4, 2004 I voted awesome just because they are probably my favorite band right now, and probably one of my favorites of all time, behind Floyd and Zeppelin. I've seen then twice, and both times they played Opiate. The crowd goes fucking nuts for that song. Also, I think it's cool how Maynard always "hides" himself from the audience. The first time I saw them he came out in silver bodypaint and the next time I saw them in 2002, he stood behind something almost the entire time and all that you could see was his shadow. Very eerie, I ate that up. And btw, Aenima is probably in my top 5 of greatest albums ever.
Dr. Tyler; Captain America 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2004 Personally, I like A Perfect Circle a little better than Tool; Thirteenth Step and Mer de Noms alike are both incredible albums that tell a story better than 90% of albums out there. While I'll admit that I haven't listened to Tool as closely as I should to make a comparison, the subtle energy and clever lyrics invovled in both of APC's albums have led me to absolutely love them. Seeing them in concert also pretty much cemented that fact. Of course, when Tool releases their next album (whenever that might be...) I'll probably like them more than APC again. It happened with Lateralus, too. They're both heaping stacks of awesome.
