Guest FrigidSoul Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 I think he's a horrible human being. He treats the employees that aren't on the field like shit.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 (edited) Yanks were losing four-two going into the (bottom) fourth. Reggie walks into the YES booth, sits down, and we hit three home runs in the inning. I think he's a horrible human being. He treats the employees that aren't on the field like shit. George does alot of nice things for people that he likes to keep on the down-low. Edited June 5, 2004 by Anglesault
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 I think he's a horrible human being. He treats the employees that aren't on the field like shit. So let them quit. We don't need commissioners with vendettas.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 Buck knew when to fold 'em on Rogers.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 Shit. We just need to get out of this inning and untie it.
HarleyQuinn Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 Royals now take a 3-0 lead on the Sox in the 4th...yuck
Guest Anglesault Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 Jeter with tightness in the left groin, day to day. I can just picture George cornering him and screaming "Have you been making whoopie?"
KingPK Posted June 5, 2004 Author Report Posted June 5, 2004 So I guess we're at the point of the season where the Yankees open up a 7 game lead and the Sox have to chase them the rest of the year? It's like clockwork, I tell ya.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 In case anyone cares, Rodriguez's hair was once again a different color today.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 BTW, this is something I've been meaning to ask you guys for a while. Where exactly did Antonio Osuna go after last year? Because I'm pretty fucking sure he was making me an omelet at a Mother's Day brunch.
The Czech Republic Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 So what do you think, guys? Does Hawkins get the closer role? I think so. And I also think Borowski should be run out of town. He said he hates media scrutiny so now he won't take questions. Major media markets aren't good places to hate the media. Ship him.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 He's a member of the Padres now I was fairly certain of that, but I figured I'd ask. Doesn't explain his breakfasting in Long Island though.
DerangedHermit Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 He's a member of the Padres now I was fairly certain of that, but I figured I'd ask. Doesn't explain his breakfasting in Long Island though. *shudders* If I see his sorry ass on LI...*shudders*
Bruiser Chong Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 So what do you think, guys? Does Hawkins get the closer role? I think so. And I also think Borowski should be run out of town. He said he hates media scrutiny so now he won't take questions. Major media markets aren't good places to hate the media. Ship him. Agreed. He was a big asset most of last year, but I don't think he's the closer the Cubs should have if they're serious about contending. Moving him down in the pen won't help much, since the majority of these guys are brought in during tight situations, which is exactly the reason why we're discussing getting him out of the closer role.
treble Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 Another nice little pitching duel between Harden and Towers tonight until the A's bullpen blew it in the end (allowing Frank Menechino to score, to boot). The march back to .500 continues.
Bored Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 (allowing Frank Menechino to score, to boot) Wow, he went 1 for 5. Blue Jays going to retire his number now? Fun fact: A's starters now have seven straight no decisions. In six of the seven games the starter allowed two runs or less. Fun fact #2: A's are pretty much screwed with this offense (which was mediocre at best with Chavez) and bullpen. Fun fact #3: I'm soooooooooo not looking forward to mental morons that make up half of A's fans who will want Beane fired for not making the playoffs this year and to hire a GM who values "small ball."
Vern Gagne Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 Does it matter Hawkins has said he doesn't want to close. Farnsworth was always supposed to be the closer of the future. Give him a shot at the job.
Bruiser Chong Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 Oh, you'd like that, wouldn't you, Mr. Astros Fan? If Kyle could get a semblence of control with his pitches, I think he'd be a strong closer. Until then, he's as unreliable as JoBo can be.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 Fun fact #3: I'm soooooooooo not looking forward to mental morons that make up half of A's fans who will want Beane fired for not making the playoffs this year and to hire a GM who values "small ball." They should want him fired for not being willing to spend money on Tejada but being willing to sign Kotsay to that insane extension. Tejada at SS and Crosby at 2nd would have been nice for Oakland.
HarleyQuinn Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 Kotsay is set to make $16.5 Mill over the next 3 years(2004-2006) at $5.50 Million per year. He has a career .281 BA and a .756 OPS. Miguel Tejada is set to make $72 Million over the next 8 years(2004-2011) while making $11 Mill in 2005, $12 Mill in 2006 and 2007 and $13 Mill in 2008 and 2009. Considering he's a career .270 hitter with a .791 OPS, I don't think Tejada's worth as much as he'll be making.
Bored Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 FS get your facts straight it was ownership that said they weren't going to even attempt to sign Tejada before the 2003 season started (which probably contributed to his horrendous start to that season) because they said they couldn't afford him. Also on top of that Kotsay signed that extension back in July 2002 with the Padres. This past offseason certainly wasn't Beane's best but he is primarily responsible for this team winning 392 games in a four-year span.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 I swear I heard Beane gave Kotsay and even longer extension. Also Tejada's contract is back-loaded, how could A's ownership(which was told it could allow Tejada free because of Crosby by Beane) not even attempt an extension?
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 I swear I heard Beane gave Kotsay and even longer extension. Also Tejada's contract is back-loaded, how could A's ownership(which was told it could allow Tejada free because of Crosby by Beane) not even attempt an extension? Because Crosby projects to be as good as Tejada. The better question is why should organizations waste money on overrated players. If you're going to spend money, spend it on a position at which you actually need a player.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 You need two middle infielders. Crosby could have played 2nd.
Bored Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 The Yankees don't seem to need two good middle infielders. Again this is all irrelevent because ownership was never going to pay the money to keep Tejada. Also Tejada's contract isn't that back loaded as yes he only makes $7 million this year but it will jump to $11 million next year, which is $2.5 million more than Eric Chavez will make next year. He'll make $12-13 million/year the remainder of the contract which is about what the A's will have to be paying Tim Hudson when they likley sign him to an extension this offseason. I swear I heard Beane gave Kotsay and even longer extension. There was some details that had to be worked out in the contract about a no trade clause when they made the deal but the money was already in place. Here is an article when Kotsay signed his extension in 2002: http://www.maps.signonsandiego.com/sports/...14sullivan.html
Guest Anglesault Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 YES trivia. There has been one year that had a triple crown winner in baseball and horse racing What was the year and who were the winners?
KingPK Posted June 5, 2004 Author Report Posted June 5, 2004 (edited) 1937. War Admiral and Joe Medwick. I'll let you figure out who was the horse. Edited June 5, 2004 by Kingpk
Guest Choken One Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 And I don't think 2004 will manage to get that accomplishment as well... Unless Pujols gets cracking...
Guest Anglesault Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 Yankees totally forgot that they had a game today. Utterly disgusting.
