The death of Teri remains the biggest shock I remember from 24, mostly because I didn't see it coming at all, and I'm sure most of the fanbase of 24 assumed that she'd stick around for the long haul.

 

A good majority of the surprises on this list were ruined by some of the 24 previews on FOX, especially Marie Warner killing Reza. Even Palmer's poisioning was foreshadowed, although equally shocking.

 

So honorable mention goes to Palmer not seeking re-election, the Jack/Tony/Gael Plan , and Jack's temporary death.

None of these for me - it's got to be Jack actually killing Nina. Incredible. Teri's death is way up there, though I knew about it since I caught the first season on DVD.

Thats a tough choice to make, but I have to go with Terri's death at the end of season 1. After everything that had happened that day I didn't expect her to not make it through the day after she had returned to CTU.

I also go with Teri's death in Season 1. That's when you just KNEW that nothing was sacred in the world of 24 and to expect the big swerve like that.

I had to vote for Teri's death. Because then, Nina's turn (well, revelation) was still sinking in also.

 

And dammit, the virus being a fake was/is a bit of a shock, seeing as I haven't got up to there yet...

Nina turning. I wanted to throw everything at my tv screen when she was revealed to be the mole, I was that pissed lol but in a good suprising way.

Nina's turn was a bigger surprise, even despite how huge a surprise Teri dying was.

Teri's death was just that much more shocking though, since there were about four or five separate occasions during the day that she had a chance to die.

 

Plus, they had just established that she and Jack were going to try and work things out, she was pregnant, etc.

 

I sat there in shock for about five or six minutes after the season was over.
