How long do horses live? Smarty's only 3.....

Horses can live to be around 20-25 years old.

When it comes to racing though, they peak at the age of 3. Smarty's got maybe one more year left before being put shipped the stud stable (or glue factory).

They aren't going to kill the horse and send him to the glue factory.

Man I gotta be a racing horse like Smarty.

Spend 2-3 years working hard and racing then spend the rest of your life doing nothing. Grazing, eating, sleeping, banging lady horses. God damn horses......they have it better than all of us! I don't feel sorry for you any more Smarty! I'm jealous!

*looks at picture of Smarty*

Poor little guy....he's been through so much! He deserved to win!

That's what I get for believing it this year.

Well, good for Birdstone.

Notice no one remembers who won the damn thing...we remember the losers more...

Ironically the trainer is a New York horse racing favorite, Nick Zito who FINALLY won a Belmont Stakes after 5 runner-ups and a legendary career.

So the one time his horse gets the job done everyone hates it!

To quote Nelson, "HA-HA!"

I will find it funny to listen to WIP this week and hear people calling in. For the past week people have been calling in saying this would be on par with a championship from the big 4 sports teams. That is bullshit.

You said it. Almost as funny as Eskin predicting an undefeated season for the Eagles.

What's funnier is that everyone is now acting like the horse is a failure and didn't win anything. He was 8-0! He won two huge races! And all his trainer cared about anyway was the Kentucky Derby! It's not like the horse is a total failure that didn't do anything.

it's kinda as if that horse was from Boston instead of philly...

Wins a lot but in the end it's never enough for the people.

Quite honestly Philly fans SHOULD boo the horse. Not because he failed, but just because you have to maintain that hard-earned reputation, and booing livestock is our next great achievement.

Santa Claus is livestock?

Santa Claus Booing is old hat...

It's only a matter of time they boo Cancer Ridden holocaust survivors in their deathbeds

Are you saying Philly fans would be callous enough to treat a poor animal that doesn't know what's going on like crap!? I'm shocked! SHOCKED!

6 times since 1997 the Derby/Preakness winner can't close the deal

Is Belmont really that difficult compared to the other two?

It's the only race of it's length each year. Another one existed, but no one showed up. It also should remind people, of how utterly amazing Secretariat's 31 length victory in 1973 was.

The race itself. Smarty took the lead too soon. The trainer said he was worried. Also Birdstone was helped missing the Preakness. In such a demanding race, all the time off helps.

I must watch to much wrestling. Me and my friend just talked about how Smarty Jones should've run into the winners circle and clipped Birdstone from behind. Then he could smash the trophy and eat the reef that Birdstone gets. Then he could tell the fans in Philly to stick it.

The Smarty Jones heel turn.
