Guest glennsoe Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 SPOILER ALERT: The following contains spoilers for tonight's NWA:TNA PPV. You have been warned! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . For those wondering about the NWA World Tag Team Title match between America's Most Wanted against the winner of the fan's balloting, I have been told that they will announce that Elix Skipper & Christopher Daniels won the fan balloting, but that due to Daniels' legitimate injury in Japan, he won't be able to wrestle. Glenn Gilberti & Johnny Swinger will then step in and get the tag title match. As we saw on Impact, Shane Douglas will now be working as an interviewer on camera instead of wrestling. He is also working behind the scenes as an agent for the company. No word on whether they will have Shane do any commentary (which he did briefly in ECW while injured). With Chris Harris back in tag team action with James Storm, and AJ Styles back with the X Division, Jeff Jarrett will be feuding with 3 Live Kru for the immediate future. He is scheduled to wrestle all three members of 3 Live Kru (Ron Killings, Konnan & BG James) tonight in gimmick matches, but the title will not be on the line. From what I understand, the Raven vs. Sabu feud will be kicked into high gear tonight, as they will introduce a storyline that Raven is challenging Sabu to a Clockwork Orange House Of Fun match, but Sabu will refuse to face him because the Original Sheik trained them and made them promise not to wrestle each other.

Glenn Gilberti & Johnny Swinger will then step in and get the tag title match. This is not surprising. I figured the shot would go to Gilberti and Swinger. I liked my explanation though of them hacking into the system and changing the votes. As we saw on Impact, Shane Douglas will now be working as an interviewer on camera instead of wrestling. He is also working behind the scenes as an agent for the company. No word on whether they will have Shane do any commentary (which he did briefly in ECW while injured). I think TNA should give him a shot as the color commentary on Impact. He did pretty well commentating in ECW and would be a great change of pace to West. Should be interesting....a decent way to kick off the feud. I hope we see Gorgegous George involved here to so we have some continuity. This is an interesting way to start this feud and hold on delivering the actual match. Good move on TNA's part. I wonder how they are going get that over with Sabu saying it.....should be interesting.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 As long as XXX gets a title shot down the road...I don't know what else they could have done. Well...they could have let Skipper pick another partner... Times like this I wish they hadn't split Diamond and Swinger up.
Guest OSIcon Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 I haven't seen this brought up anywhere, but Daniels' last match in the BOSJ tournament was today in Japan. He was then scheduled to take part in at least one other match before the tour ends in a few days. So if Daniels didn't injure himself, how was he going to make the TNA booking? I sersiouly can't see him pulling out of his New Japan commitment (in the midst of the Best of the Super Juniors none the less). It almost seems that TNA got "lucky" with his injury, unless they had something up their sleeves to get him back for the PPV in time.
TNABaddboi Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 As long as XXX gets a title shot down the road...I don't know what else they could have done. Well...they could have let Skipper pick another partner... Times like this I wish they hadn't split Diamond and Swinger up. I think instead of just saying Daniels is injured and giving the shot to the NYC, they should announce them as the winners and have Tenay and West put over how shocking it is that they won considering their lack of popularity. Then have Russo discover that Gilberti and Swinger hack into the system and rigged the vote and give XXX the match when Daniels is healthy. I thought that was a creative way for them to get around that.

The Ghost of bps21 Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 I'm pretty sure this will all just be an angle to get XXX back into the tag division (all the X Cup team members have to find there way back to the regular show somehow)...because I'm pretty sure they didn't put the poll up until after Daniels was injured. They knew they'd win the vote...and they knew Daniels wasn't going to be back today even if he was healthy. So this is just the start of all that. It's like they've found new ways to bait and switch.
BoboBrazil Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 Wonderful. Jeff Jarrett begins his title reign by going through 3 people in 1 night again. You know usually handicap matches are supposed to be against the face. The heel isn't supposed to overcome going through 3 people in 1 night.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 Hopefully he'll squash Konnan and give him his release right after. Anyway...since the title isn't on the line...Truth will probably beat him.
BoboBrazil Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 The thing is Jeff Jarrett should be making Truth go through 3 people to get the title shot at Jarrett. This would build up Truth and get him more over, especially if they show clips of him doing it on IMPACT!. Casual fans who don't watch would start seeing him as a main eventer. Jarrett going through 3 people does nothing.

Anyway...since the title isn't on the line...Truth will probably beat him. Yeah Truth will either beat Jarrett or have him beat before interference. Wonderful. Jeff Jarrett begins his title reign by going through 3 people in 1 night again. You know usually handicap matches are supposed to be against the face. The heel isn't supposed to overcome going through 3 people in 1 night. Agreed....I wouldn't rule out Jarrett having some sort of back up though. This would build up Truth and get him more over, especially if they show clips of him doing it on IMPACT!. Casual fans who don't watch would start seeing him as a main eventer. Jarrett going through 3 people does nothing. I'm sure they make Truth earn his title shot in some way that can put him over strong for the new audience. Hopefully, anyway ....
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 Wonderful. Jeff Jarrett begins his title reign by going through 3 people in 1 night again. You know usually handicap matches are supposed to be against the face. The heel isn't supposed to overcome going through 3 people in 1 night. But even if Jarrett won 2 of the 3 matches it wouldn't really matter. Beating James and Konnan would mean he beat two tag team wrestlers out of his element. And this is a quick and easy way to set up a Killings title shot down the road. Killings beats Jarrett clean and Jarrett whines that he had already wrestled two matches that night.
LucharesuFan619 Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 Ummm...Raven wasn't trained by the Sheik...
NoCalMike Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 if TNA is gonna use Sabu in any type of big feud, or on a full-time basis, they should seriously consider digging up bill alphonzo's where-abouts. He was so money as Sabu's manager.
1234-5678 Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 Ummm...Raven wasn't trained by the Sheik... Those lousy TNA bastards are working us!
