Chazz 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2004 I've been getting a lot of prank phone calls on my Cell Phone recently to the point that I'm thinking about getting a Tap. I've never done this before, and would like some Input as to how I would go about doing this. (Actually, I don't know If It would be possible to tap a Cell Phone, but I don't know.) But for those that have had a tap or knows someone who has, I have a few questions: 1.) How would I go about doing this(Obviously) 2.) How soon would I know the number(s) of The phone(s) In which they were calling from? 3.) Do I have to keep them on the Phone for a certain amount of time In order for It to work? Any other additional Info anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Dr. Tom 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2004 I'm not sure how it works on cell phones (though if you don't have caller ID on your cell phone, you badly need a new phone and/or carrier), but on landlines, you report problems to the phone company. They'll then contact the police regarding telephone abuse or telephone harassment. It's unlikely you'll find out who was calling you, but if there's a case, they'll involve you in it. Of course, that's how it works here. In different states, YMMV.
Chazz 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2004 Thanks, Dr. Tom. All The calls I have been getting have been marked "Private Call", which Is the apparent need for a phone tap. I remember when I was 14 years old and a group of friends and I were randomly pranking people.(Jerkey Boys were huge back then.) Anyways, mid-prank of this one call this guy blurts out. "You know I have this phone tapped." We all freaked and were scared shitless. Time came and went and nothing happened which lead me to believe that either a.) We weren't on the phone long enough for It to work, or b.) He never had a tap In the first place. More likely b, cause If you had a tap why would you tell someone? Ah, to be young and stupid. (As opposed to now being old and stupid.)
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2004 I never understood prank calls. Usually when someone called trying to be funny, I'd usually say, in a monotone voice, get cancer or something. Usually that shut them up long enough for me to hang up to silence...
