Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2004 worldnetdaily.com Interesting. It would not only help Bush win re-election, but also the Republican party win in 2008. Another idea was having Dick Cheney become Director of the CIA.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2004 This was rumored a while ago, and I just might have to vote for Bush if Guiliani is the VP candidate. Republican or no, I'd vote for Guiliani over just about anyone in America.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2004 I've been hearing this rumor for years, mostly due to Cheney's health, the idea being Rudy in '08. But I'm going to vote for Bill Frist when the time comes.

Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2004 The RNC is saving Giulianni for 2008. Any 2004 term is going to begin with the fucked-upness left from the last four years, and they want to keep him away from that. Hillary or Kerry, it doesn't matter, they know they'll win. But Bush is sinking so damn hard that it's not funny. In the event that Kerry wins but doesn't fix things and it all gets more fucked up, Giulianni will look like Reagan 2.0, I swear. In the mean time, though, he needs to not shoot himself in the foot. That 9/11 commision meeting where he was like a child insisting that those FDNY firefighters in the WTC knew the building was going to collapse but continued to stay inside TO RESCUE AMERICANS BECAUSE THEY ARE OUR NATION'S BRAVEST PLAY NATIONAL ANTHEM HERE WHILE FIREWORKS EXPLODE IN THE SKY GOD BLESS instead of the reality of the situation, which was that a lot of firefighters didn't know to get out, was almost embarassing. Rudy, your calling card right now is that people trust you. Don't throw it away on rhetoric.
Guest MikeSC Report post Posted June 11, 2004 Isn't Giuliani pro-choice and not a homphobe? Wasn't aware that Republicans tended to be homophobes. One can disagree with gay rights groups and not, you know, hate gays. Gay pride groups, hate to break it to you, don't speak for all gay people. In the mean time, though, he needs to not shoot himself in the foot. Jobber, seeing as how even I knew the building was going to go down at any minute (flames, fueled by jet fuel, in a building with a metal support structure is a real bad combination) --- rest assured that a lot of them were quite aware that they would not likely be leaving. -=Mike
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2004 Wasn't aware that Republicans tended to be homophobes. Yeah, we are. That 9/11 commision meeting where he was like a child insisting that those FDNY firefighters in the WTC knew the building was going to collapse but continued to stay inside. I can't wait to see this joke of a commission's report. Actually, through my various contacts, I have obtained a super-secret final draft of the thing. Here's a snippet: In the event of a building that has been struck by terrorists, in order to prevent confusion and causalities, the city's mayor will go on the air and tell firefighters/rescue workers/police officer not on duty to stay away from the wreckage. I feel safer already. Thank you 9/11 commission...

Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted June 12, 2004 Good kind Christ. All they said was that the firefighters probably didn't hear the evacuation signal. Giuliani was inistant on drumming up the heroicness of it all, but quite likely a number of those guys were rather suprised when the building crushed them. It is rather depressing, but that doesn't mean that the public services can't change their system to do a better job.

If you don't mind me asking --- WHY THE FUCK WOULD THEY NEED TO "DESTROY THE HEROISM" OF THE FIREFIGHTERS? Jesus fucking Christ, is it too much to allow HEROES to exist? Heaven forbid they assume that people MIGHT lay their lives on the line to save others when most of the Commission wouldn't piss on their mothers to put them out if they caught fire. Hell, they DON'T EVEN FUCKING KNOW if the shit they're peddling is true. They're saying it JUST to be dicks. The Commission is a fucking joke. -=Mike
Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted June 12, 2004 Okay, so someone says there could have been a communications breakdown, the firefighters might not have heard the evacuation order. Now, does that make their sacrifice any less heroic? Does it make their deaths somehow meaningless, does that reduce the loss felt by their families? No. But is it good if we obstruct a potential problem so we can have TRUE AMERICAN HEROEZ!!!1 and risk this happening again? Can't we agree that regardless of the circumstances, those people paid the ultimate price and investigate if indeed the order was not heard, and how to make sure that, heavens forbid, it doesn't happen another time?
