Molotov The Bear 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2004 For a Game Boy Advance? I have one of the old school original Game Boy's in my possession, and I'm planning on trading it in to EB and buying a GBA in its place. But I havent kept in touch with the handheld systems in years, so I was wondering what games would be worth me checking out.

Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted June 13, 2004 Get 2 of the Castlevania games, definitely Aria of Sorrow. The other two names escape me, but one has poor graphics & good music, and the other the opposite.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2004 For the RPGer in all of us: Breath of Fire Breath of Fire 2 Fire Emblem Golden Sun Golden Sun: The Lost Age Secret of Mana Shining Soul 2 (I didn't care for the original) Tactics Orge: The Knights of Lodis That's about it for the RPGs that I can think of at this time. I can add one more to that list: Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. It's not as good as it's predecessor, but that's what happens when you try to improve on perfection. Vyce 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2004 I didn't add it for that very reason. It is a poor man's game. Eh, it's an okay game. Along the same theme, though, I would suggest Onimusha Tactics, which is essentialy just FFTA using Capcom's Onimusha franchise. Also, Baldur's Gate is a game I just recently got, and it's pretty decent so far. I would also label as must haves: Advance Wars Advance Wars 2 ALL of the Mario Advance games Mario & Luigi Superstar Oh, and my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION EVER - "Shining Force: Rise of the Dark Dragon". I'm not sure if it's been released yet in the States, but it will be soon. This is a port of the old Genesis RPG, "Shining Force", which is one of the best RPGs of ALL TIME (well.....IMO - it's dated now, in these days of technological wonders, but it's incredibly fun). But they've gone back and actually improved on the graphics of the game, which ups its value in my eyes. You want all of this one.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2004 I would never, ever recommend FFTA. It munches. Even if you get past the horribly outdated and slow battle system, there's the stupid judges and terrible, insulting story. If you find yourself relating to the characters in the game, do yourself and everyone else a favor, and kill yourself. Oh, it also produced some of the worst TV ads in the history of video games. Try Ninja Five O if you can find it.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted June 13, 2004 Oh, it also produced some of the worst TV ads in the history of video games. I don't think anything will top seeing the FF X-2 commercial every five minutes on Spike TV for 2 months. And the FIRST FF game I played in 5 years was Tactics Advance, and I gave up on it in a day because it was horrible. Definitely not the best choice when re-entering the FF series. Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2004 (edited) Ok... The man is asking for Gameboy help. We went through the FF "God only knows why people play these, when they end up being mediocre lately" in the Gamefaqs thread. Let it die already. As for Shining Force: Rise of The Dark Dragon, I'd highly recommend picking that one up. It was a classic back in the day, and even on the emu it still entertains like hell. And whenever Shining Force 2 comes out, grab that as well. Edited June 13, 2004 by Lightning Flik
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2004 Fire Pro Wrestling. Get the first one because the second one was just meh...unless you have the Japanese version that still has manager mode in it, but then you'd have to read Japanese or figure it out. Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2004 Don't trade in the old Game Boy, especially if it's a clear one. Those ruled. Even after trading in my other older game stuff, I refuse to get rid of that particular little gem.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2004 Ok... The man is asking for Gameboy help. We went through the FF "God only knows why people play these, when they end up being mediocre lately" in the Gamefaqs thread. Let it die already. The FFTs don't really anything to do with the rest of the FFs. It's just that FFTA was a bad sequel to a good game. I don't think anything will top seeing the FF X-2 commercial every five minutes on Spike TV for 2 months. Difference of opinion there. It wasn't a bad ad (cheesy J-Pop and opinion on the actual game aside), but that was just overkilled. However, the FFTA commercials wore out their welcome the first time they were shown. "So call now, or I may become irritable!" Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga is good, and either Mario vs. Donkey Kong or the 1994 Game Boy game are too. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2004 Old School Fighting Final Fight One Double Dragon Advance River City Ransom Ex Gekido: Kintaro Revenge Astro Boy Ransom EX has a lot of changes that reviewers have thought rather unnecessary, even game-damaging. FFO is basically the arcade game...and little else. Not bad, but it shows its age. Double Dragon Advance doesn't look as good as FFO, but the changes are all for the better. I didn't know Astro Boy was anything of the sort--I thought it was a platformer. Oh, and may want to wait until it is out first to recommend it. A friend has Gekido, and it looks pretty damn good. Just a small warning. SFA3 doesn't have all the modes that it did on the PSOne. They couldn't cram it all onto the cartridge. However, what they did manage to get into it is pretty amazing. It damn well better be, since they pushed back the release over a year.

Hey - I love RCR, and frankly, I'm happy to get any port of it. And I have Gekido. Visually, it's good. As for the rest, eh. It's okay, but there's better for the GBA.
