The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 So OJ Hart was just satire of rich kids with hot tubs and cell phones. Um...that didn't come off as biting social commentary, guy. You need to work on your technique. So it was all fake. Next thing you know, the board will be bought by the Japanese and Dames wakes up next to Suzanne Pleshette with the old EZBoard settings from 2001. Somebody already made the Newhart reference, I know...but just to ask, which fake ending was better: Newhart being all a dream and waking up on the set of The Bob Newhart Show, or St. Elsewhere being the figment of an autistic's imagination? Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted June 15, 2004 It's like the final episode of Newhart. Except it really isn't at all. or for the younger people out there the final episode of Roseanne
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 I know Newhart's ending better than Roseanne, mostly because not even John Goodman's awesomeness could rescue that show sometimes. Ah. I felt lower-class just WATCHING it.
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted June 15, 2004 Well John Goodman did have little to do with the show in the final seasons. Between having work on a few movies and contract disputes with the ABC execs Goodman was in less and less episodes. I also never thought the Sarah Chalke looked anything like the original actress who played Becky. She also just never came across as being a real pain in the ass like the original actress did too. Laurie Metcaff(sp?) aged horribly towards the end of the show as well. Also, for those that didn't know, the actor that played Mark on the series died of a heroin overdose. And just for the record, John Goodman kept that show from being hideous. He's just a great guy. If it was Tom Arnold as the husband, watch out.

Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted June 15, 2004 Which was Mark? I know Darlene's boyfriend is Hyde on That 70s Show. Glenn Quinn I know Darlene's boyfriend is Hyde on That 70s Show. Incorrect. Johnny Galecki played David while Danny Masterson plays Hyde. They do kinda look similiar though Johnny Galecki Danny Masterson And just for the record, John Goodman kept that show from being hideous. He's just a great guy. If it was Tom Arnold as the husband, watch out. Tom Arnold's character being abducted by aliens in the series was hilarious.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 Upon further research, Hyde played A boyfriend, but not THE boyfriend.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 How'd Roseanne end?
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted June 15, 2004 Ending to Roseanne ended up being one of the largest cop outs in TV series finale history IMO, only topped by Seinfeld. You see it turned out that the series was basically Roseanne in her basement writing out her memoirs, but changing various details that she didn't like as she went along. Turns out in "reality" Mark and Darlene had gotten together while Becky and David got together. Roseanne's mom wasn't a lesbian but Jackie actually was, which negates the child she had and her being the stereotypical bar whore the character was. On top of that Dan had died of a heart-attack and hadn't been around for the past 2 years(which was a subtle shot at John Goodman as he had been having the contract disputes for the final 2 years of the show). Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 The end of Seinfeld wasn't a cop-out, and this sounded pretty interesting too.
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted June 15, 2004 The ending to Roseanne pretty much negated everything in the series though. It didn't bring closure, instead it made you wonder what the hell really happened.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 St. Elsewhere, Newhart, and Mary Tyler Moore had the best finales ever.

Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted June 15, 2004 Seinfeld wasn't a cop out. The final fit pretty well IMO. They went to jail for being complete, ignorant assholes. Sadly, the "1 year sentence" opened up for a return, which is probably the only real fault.
