Guest SP-1 Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 Has anyone else seen this movie? It's from 1994, directed by Ron Howard. It takes a look at one day in the life of a "respectable tabloid" reporter (Keaton) trying to blow the lid off of a racial murder case in the face of a massive deadline. I watched it this morning on USA and I thought it was awesome. The acting is great and the pace is nerve wracking in a good way. I found myself getting very involved in the way things were going and couldn't walk away from the movie once I started watching it. It's not high drama but it's good drama tempered with alot of wit. Are there any fans of this movie lurking around here? I was looking on Amazon for the DVD but it seems there's only a Pan/Scan version out there. Anyone know if a decent DVD in widescreen is in the works?
CanadianChris Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 Wonerfully underrated movie. One of my favourites.
notJames Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 I saw it for my Film Reviewing class when it first came out. It was okay, not too memorable. Maybe I'll check it out again if USA replays it in the future.
Betty Houle Posted June 16, 2004 Report Posted June 16, 2004 It' a good movie in the tradition of other Ron Howard ensemble movies like PARENTHOOD. Hell, it even has the late, great Jason Robards in a small part, too! It'a a wee bit too over-the-top to be realistic but I liked it all the same. Marisa Tomei is just beautiful, by the way. What a pretty face.
