New McDonald's commercial

Recommended Posts

Guest I Got Banned for Sucking

Just saw it last night during the State of Origin. It features Guy Russo, the CEO of McDonald's saying something to the extent of:

"Hello customers. There is a new documentary that has just been released, featuring our store. Some of you may have seen it, some not. It is about a man who, for some reason, decides that he is going to eat nothing but our products for each and every meal that he consumes for a designated period of time. And with that, he also stopped excercising. And needless to say, he thought he'd double his daily calorie intake. We could've told you that."

And then logo flashes ala the end of a WWE program.

Interesting.

Anyone who needs to watch a documentary to know that eating McDonalds 3 times a day, for a month straight will damage your health, is probably not very wise or healthy to begin with.

With that said, Dangerous_A saw the flick and told me it was pretty good, so I might just end up watching it anyway.

The only thing that bothers me a bit is supposedly McDonalds uses addictive compounds in their food. Now I am sure it isn't anything on the level of say nicotine or heroin, lol, but it does make you wonder just a little bit more.

Well thats quite interesting.

A) The "movie" did nothing at the box office

B) It's been over a month since the "movie" was "released" and the most many people have seen of it is the 2 minute clips on TV news shows and the like

C) Its a weak comeback anyway considering their advertising budget for this one commercial is probably 10x the budget for the guys "movie".

D) In a round-about-way it says that their food isn't good for you and they know its not good for you if they could have told you what would happen if you did that.

I would have had Ronald McDonald standing up in front of a chalkboard in a classroom full of kids. The chalkboard would read:

"3 meals a day @ McDonalds x 30 days = FAT IDIOT"

With Ronald smiling and handing out Happy Meals to all the kids in the room as he sings some sort of catchy tune with them.

Oh, and up until a while ago when some Vegans through a hissy fit over it, McDonalds would use the good taste of Beef Fat to "season" their french fries.

Read the article about it from 2001..

I haven't seen it, but from what I've heard, the documentary achieves nothing... Morgan Spurlock seems to be under the illusion that consumers don't know that McDonald's is shit food.

I think what he was looking for was some credit to his dedication to put on weight for what he believed in... And I'm still trying to figure out what that is.

I loved the commercial. Russo being a bit more forward in his obvious distaste for Morgan Spurlock would've made for entertaining TV and probably McDonald's traffic, but he probably knows that some idiots are probably going to follow the documentary to attempt to somehow differentiate themselves from the masses, when they are actually the moronic ones led by a guy who probably just wanted some cash to fund further fast food endeavours.

My commercial would've said something to the degree of "Morgan Spurlock is an idiot. He's attempting to pass himself off as a battler against a multi-billion dollar fast food chain. Even if we are, and we use pig fat instead of actual milk, the food is fucking delicious, and when you think about it and not allow yourself to be blinded by someone without a point, wouldn't you rather spend your money sitting on your ass eating our shitty food that sitting on your ass in the movie theatre watching your I.Q. drop? He's telling you nothing that you don't already know. And we've got salad!"

And with a specific fast food franchise targeted in the film, I'm surprised it even had the opportunity to be made, let alone released at movie theatres around the globe.

You do know the guy in that film was a veggiterrian (sp?) and hadn't had meat in years. So any bit of meat in his system would have made him feel addicted.

For a documentary that was in maybe 200 theaters at it's peak, it has done pretty impressive numbers in both total gross and per screen averages. It was in the Top 10 for three weeeks I believe.

the idea behind the movie is genuine and right on, however I think instead, someone should do a similar type movie-documentary on common grocery store big corporate food products that have been on the shelves for over 75 years, but now contain more fattening and addictive ingredients because they are cheaper to produce.

I mean seriously, every fool knows the truth behind McDonalds food, but it is far less known by the masses that the same food products that have been on grocery store shelves for decades, now have higher fat contents in them, then before.

Yeah, on one of the ads they show the nutrition information on the wrapping. Only problem is I had no idea what 'That Movie' was until I saw this thread.

That asshole should have known better than to fuck with McDonalds. Did he think they were just going to sit there and take it? This is McDonalds bitch, not Roger Smith or some shit.

The fact that McDonalds says their nutrition info is easy to come by is hillarious. Here, they are plastered on the wall in front of the bathrooms, in the back. Now, even if you wanted to read the stuff, you have to battle the stench of the bathrooms to stand there and read it. And how many people actually go into a McDonalds anymore?

There's a few misconceptions. For one thing, the ad campaign is run by the McDonalds in Australia, not in the United States. They are managed differently.

I think that that poster alone pwns Morgan Spurlock.

The poster compares Spurlock's comments about McDonalds in America, and offers a rebuttal based on the McDonalds in Australia. For example, the poster claims that McDonalds' salads have less than 7g of fat. This is true in Australia. But in America, this is certainly not true. Many salads have three times as much fat. The Fiesta Salad has 250 calories from fat. That's only 50 less than the Big Mac.

The poster is blatently misleading, at best.
