alfdogg 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2004 Who would it be? I'd choose Marvin Gaye or John Lennon. Maybe Jim Morrison. That's all I could come up with right now.

1234-5678 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2004 Morrison dying ensured his legacy. If he lived, he wouldn't mean as much as he does. I'd say John Bonham. If he didn't die, Zeppelin would've made quite a few more ass kicking albums.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted June 21, 2004 Hendrix. Easily. He had SO much more to offer us. Its a shame that we missed out. Maybe Gram Parsons too. PS. I don't think Zep woulda made too many more kick ass albums, they were on a steady decline as the 80's were coming on. Nobody from the 60's and 70's had a very noteworthy 80's. 1234-5678 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2004 They declined because of Page's drug addiction, Plant's son dying, and John Paul Jones having to have more input. Granted, I liked Zep with the keyboards, but their last album "In Through The Out Door" only had two good songs (I especially like "Fool In The Rain") and the rest was throwaway crap. With that said though, I think they were primed for a big comeback artistically, but then Bonham died.

Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 21, 2004 Actually... Kurt Cobain. So that way he would never have been worshipped like he is because of his offing himself and that he would have exposed himself as being a nothing special artist and Nirvana would have split...Dave still creates Foo Fighters...Kurt leaves Courtney for good...raises their daughter by himself as Love wastes her life away...Kurt does his artsy stuff and doesn't spread it to the mainstream but feels happy because it's what he wanted. Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 21, 2004 By bringing these dead people back...are we getting them in their primes? Because I don't want to bring back an old Johnny Cash...whom would just die again right away. Maybe Elvis...just to give him a more dignified death...Like Suicide or something. spiny norman 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2004 I'll go Lennon like everyone else. I feel his death was one of the more tragic, especially considering society in the 1980s I feel Lennon's music and message could have been of massive importance. Not only that, but the nature of his death, while there have been other shootings such as Marvin Gaye, was absolutely horrible. He'd just come back from having no musical output for five years. I have to say that in Beautiful Boy, when Lennon says the line "I can hardly wait to see you come of age but I guess we'll both just have to be patient" I crawl into a ball and start sobbing uncontrollably. Music's greatest artist (in my opinion) to have died so tragically and so young, he's the artist who I'd have brought back. Hendrix would be next on my list. 1234-5678 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2004 Jerry Garcia and Biggie. Thanks, cause that reminded me. 2Pac. He epitomizes what rap could and should be, not this lame ass bling style that permeates 90% of the airwaves.
