Well, if that shitty version of the Yankees had to show up again, at least it was against a quality team like the New York Me...

Oh, fuck it, I'm just gonna hang myself.

If the Red Sox made no errors the game would be 3-2. This makes me cry on the inside.

Red Sox need an upgrade at 1B and one more quality starter. Hopefully when Mueller comes back they move Youkilis over to 1st. That would solve the 1B problem.

I've seen Abe Alvarez pitch 3 times, and while the rest of the baseball world jerks off over his Double-A starts I think he's horrid. I'd give him up for a quality starter. If the Cardinals fall out of it I'd look into Chris Carpenter.

If Vlad, Anderson, and Guillen can consistantly put together what they have done to the Dodgers the past couple of games then the Angels are well and truly back regardless of the state of their bullpen.

reading that makes me appreciate Marty and Joe even more.

Quiet you. I wouldn't trade Pat and Ron for anyone. I'm entertained (in a bizarre way) and still have a good concept of the game on the radio. They get the job done well. Besides, if they out-and-out SUCKED, I don't think they'd be where they are.

A's obviously had to make a roster move to put Ocatvio Dotel on the roster but didn't expect to read this:

The Oakland A's announced today that they have placed right handed pitcher Tim Hudson on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to June 23 with a left oblique strain.

It's not a serious injury but....FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd assume so, which would be tommorrow since Hudson was scheduled. No point in wasting an option on Blanton when Hudson will only miss probably three starts at the most.

Rangers have to be thinking to themselves "Are we the luckiest team ever?" Losing Brian Jordan and Chan Ho Park ain't exactly like losing Chavez and Hudson or all the players the Angels have had to do without.

It still looks weird seeing the Phils just leave the field after a win instead of the whole line up and shake hands bit.

Why didn't they shake hands?

I tried to find the article about it to give a more detailed reason for it, but I couldn't find it.

IIRC, the idea came about while they were in Colorado. They just decided to abandon the tradition of going out on the field and that whole bit. They didn't feel like all the hand shaking needed to be done on the field and didn't think they should be having a celebration about going out and winning a regular season game. Larry Bowa was getting ready to run out on the field and start the routine when Todd Pratt told him that they weren't going out there. Apparently it was something they had wanted to do for a while, but were afraid to go against tradition. Since that point, when they win they just run off the field.

On a related note, for all the talk that the Phillies are Thome's team, I believe that every single one of those guys were run through a wall if Todd Pratt asked them to.

Well, after downing a couple bottles of scotch after today's whatever that thing in the Bronx was, I'm ready and raring to go for the Human Meltdown tomorrow afternoon.

When it rains it pours, Rich Harden might have seriously injured his wrist and shoulder (non-throwing arm) in the 3rd inning tonight on a play at first base. Jeez why can't it be Zito getting hurt?

Edit: Harden seperated his left shoulder. Joe Blanton will be his MLB debut next week most likely.

You think you've got it bad?

I'm gonna have to deal with a pack of Mets fans tomorrow who, despite the fact that their team is more or less struggling to keep their heads above water, think a victory over the Yankees (Best team in baseball) makes them the better team. Hell, by that logic, the Pirates would be the best of them all.

I had to deal with 3 years of asshole Yankee fans. You'll live.

When was that?

1998-2000.  Thanks to tourism, there are an overabundance of Yankee fans in Northeast Pennsylvania.

But..the Yankees were the better teams those years.

By alot.

Edit: And hey! I was in Philly in 98, 99 AND 00!
