Precious Roy Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 I expect it to be Dallas and I expect AJ to be able to carry him to a good match. I'd prefer it to be Lynn though, and the idea of a couple guys wanting the shot and making it a multi-person match is a good one.
King Cucaracha Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 Burchill would make an impact, but not in TNA. For a start, it'd prevent him working for the FWA. Anywho. Chalk up another vote for Michael Shane, who I thought had improved in recent months. Plus as someone already said, they had a decent match in the IWA:MS.
Scroby Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Chris Daniels?
Silence Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Chris Daniels? Injured, though he might be returning too soon to the ring if he's not careful like Kurt Angle has so many times before.
Mystery Eskimo Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 Lo-Ki would be great if they could get him in time. They just did AJ-Dallas which wasnt that great, so hopefully they won't go back there. I guess Chad Collyer is maybe an option.
TNABaddboi Posted June 22, 2004 Author Report Posted June 22, 2004 From TNAWrestling.com For Immediate Release AJ STYLES’ OPEN CHALLENGE ACCEPTED FOR TNA WRESTLING ANNIVERSARY SHOW June 22, 2004 (Nashville, TN) – Yesterday, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling X-Division champion “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles, issued an open challenge to anyone in the world of professional wrestling for the defense of his championship this Wednesday at the TNA 2nd Anniversary Show on pay-per-view. Last night, TNA executives were contacted about the open challenge and have accepted a match for the X-Division championship. At this time the only thing known about the challenger is that the person is not on the current TNA talent roster but is a “major player” in professional wrestling. Styles was originally scheduled to defend his title against rival Kid Kash before Kash suffered a broken fibula two weeks ago at the Impact! tapings in Orlando, FL. TNA officials have not medically cleared Kash to compete despite his assurances that he could wrestle this Wednesday. The Notorious KID has been informed he will receive a title shot once medically cleared. The X-Division title match between AJ Styles & this mystery challenger is one of three main events this Wednesday on pay-per-view as TNA celebrates its 2nd anniversary. I'm thinking Waltman, Classic, Psycosis or Teddy Hart. I would say Juvi, but he's got heat.
Guest glennsoe Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 NWA:TNA's website announced that AJ Styles' open challenge was answered by a "Major name" in professional wrestling for this Wednesday's Second Anniversary PPV. * Hmmm can you say Kanyon ??
2GOLD Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 The Kanyon name is not major. I hope it's not Classic, cause that would just suck completely.
King Cucaracha Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 Kanyon is a former WCW US and WWE Tag Champion. That more than major enough for TNA.
HandofFate Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 I think that they might give it to Lynn. Let him beat up Damore to close the feud, then have him wrestle a second match (though if you think about it, it would probably just be half of a match) and cut a promo how tough he is and how he helped create the X-Division with Styles. Then they let them go all out. Ahh...maybe just wishful thinking.....
Zack Malibu Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 It'd be awesome if it were something like Jushin Liger or Ultimo Dragon (but I don't think the conditions of Dragon's release allow him to work for TNA).
