DMann2003 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 As I've grown older I find myself more attracted to Quadrophenia then the Who's other well known Rock Opera, Tommy. Maybe because it's cynical, caustic, optomistic, brash, introspective, just feels more like life to me. None of this would matter if I felt the music didn't rock. On a personal note I had the unique pleasure to see The Who perform the album in its entirety on their 1996 tour. Zach Starkey was on drums and Billy Idol and Gary Glitter were guests on the bill. It's one of the best concerts I have ever seen.
Beast 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 I haven't heard Quadrophenia in its entirety, but I do love Love Reign O'er Me, 5:15, Dr. Jimmy, and I'm One, the only 4 songs I've heard from it. I've heard Tommy as a whole many times and I still think it's fantastic.
B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 I like Quadrophenia[/]i, but prefer Tommy. Quadrophenia is much darker overall, which I like. PLus, that album has the distinction of having the single greatest bassline in the history of basslines on "The Real Me." Entwistle's performance on that song is utterly ridiculous, cementing himself as the king of bass.[/color]
