Guest INXS Report post Posted June 25, 2004 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/3837553.stm Government prosecutors have interviewed US President George W Bush as part of their investigation into how an undercover agent's cover was blown. The investigation aims to find out how the name of CIA agent Valerie Plame was leaked to a journalist. Ms Plame's husband, former ambassador Joseph Wilson, claims his criticism of the Iraq war prompted the leak. Disclosing a covert agent's name is a criminal offence in the US, punishable by up to 10 years in prison. The investigations centre on the circumstances surrounding the release of Ms Plame's name last July. Before the war in Iraq, her husband, the former US charge d'affaires in Baghdad, was sent by the CIA to the West African state of Niger to investigate claims that Iraq had tried to buy nuclear material there. His report concluded that there was no evidence for the claims. Despite this, Mr Bush referred to them in his State of the Union address in January. The White House later admitted it had been a mistake to include the claim in the address. Bush really wanted this Iraq war didn't he?! This is SCARY stuff. To boot, when things didn't go his way he taught the CIA operative a lesson! This is YOUR president. And some people day Michael Moore hates America... Guest Hero to all Children Report post Posted June 25, 2004 Sir .. how long have you been residing in this place us natives like to call reality? You don't seem to have acclimatized yet. "ZOMG the president totally jeopardized the life of a, to him, meaningless pawn to make an example of someone who fucked with the plans of THE LEADER OF THE MOST POWERFUL NATION ON EARTH! HOLY SHIT!" This may be a shock to you .. but Santa ain't real either.

Guest thebigjig Report post Posted June 25, 2004 What exactly is up with the Left Wing? I have never watched the show, but I heard that Sheen was prez. and now he's not. What happened?... Actually the West Wing is an awesome show that has conservative and liberal fans... it also tends to show a pretty fair view of things... at least in the first few seasons. It sucks now because NBC fired the guy that created it and it's gone from one of the best written shows on television to one of the worst... I don't follow it now but last I heard the Presidents daughter was kidnapped and he had to step aside due to the personal nature of the conflict
Guest MikeSC Report post Posted June 25, 2004 BTW, just because SOME people might go nuts when all this goes down --- revealing her name is NOT illegal if the person revealing her name is unaware that she is undercover. And, keep in mind, political hacks in administrations do not have access to this info. -=Mike

kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 That's awesome. The highlight of one recent debate with my dad went like this (was mentioned before here): On Xmas he was saying how nobody was working and how nobody was buying anything. I told him Xmas spending went up. He said he heard that Wal-Mart didn't meet it's holiday goals or something. I said that's because more people went shopping at other places. Without missing a beat he then says that's because the weatherpeople on the news told everyone that it was going to snow before Xmas, causing everyone to do their shopping early. But it didn't snow, and now nobody has any money. It was during this time that I began pretending that Eliza Dushku was going down on me...

Guest CronoT Report post Posted June 25, 2004 My step-father is a party-line moron. As far as he's concerned, the sun shines straight out of Dubya's ass. I think it's possible that he thinks that Bush also has a straight line to God. Sticking to your party because you agree with them and their policies: good. Complete and utter blind faith to a party for no other reason than the party: brain dead
Guest Cerebus Report post Posted June 25, 2004 "Dispassionate search for the truth and what works." That pretty much summed up my dad's political views so he's probably the least partisan guy I know. I tend to see things on the more conservative side (why? I don't know since I grew up in New England and went to a private university in NYC) but I still try to stick to the principle my dad taught me growing up. Guest thebigjig Report post Posted June 25, 2004 I'm more liberal now than I've ever been in my life... maybe it's a sign of the times or maybe it's because I was so conservative in high school... or maybe its because I never rebelled against my parents and this is my nerdy way of doing it lol
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2004 I don't really have allegience to any political party inparticular. However at the same time I would say it is safe to say I won't be voting for a democrat or republican any time soon.

However at the same time I would say it is safe to say I won't be voting for a democrat or republican any time soon. I usually vote for democrats, but I voted for the republican candidate in our city mayoral election a few years ago. Why? Because the GOP candidate had solutions to the problems my city had. All the demo candidate had was rhetoric. He was also a fucktard, which his term in the mayor's office proved. He damn near got impeached for all his shit. (cant think of an example at the moment...) My dad refuses to buy Heinz products Not really, and he used to work at Heinz before getting laid off in the early '80s. He pretty much just says how nobody's working and that all the jobs are gone. Oddly enough, he really got pissed at Clinton during the whole Lewinsky scandal. He also went off at Arlen Specter one time, but that's wasn't Party-related; he was suing his employer for making him sick and he was getting no help from the government people that were supposed to get him some files or something. Arlen hooked him up...
Guest Cerebus Report post Posted June 25, 2004 If there were a viable third party I would love it. As it is, we have the Libertarian party which is more a collection of intellecutals rather than a viable political party (as evidenced by them running a Smurf for Senator), the Green party is our country's "Granola" party (nuts, fruits, and flakes), and the less said about the Reform party the better. Oh well.
