Identify horror movie for my column

As always, I thank you for the help and there is very little to go on here.

 

"I remember a movie where someone opens a closet or maybe just a door to

find a skinned person hanging upside-down, the skinned person then gasps and

starts to flail about. That's all I remember. I don't even remember if

it was a horror movie."

I believe you mean Hellraiser, and no that's not it.

Could be Robert Englund's version of "The Phantom of the Opera" - I know there's a scene like that in it. I think it's '89 or so..

Heck, it could be SKINNED ALIVE for all I know from that description.
