Guest INXS Report post Posted July 2, 2004 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3860191.stm A British soldier is to stand trial over the shooting of a 13-year-old boy in Iraq, the Attorney General has said. Private Johnston of the 1st Battalion Kings Own Scottish Borderers has been charged with unlawful wounding. The trial relates to an incident in Al Izair in southern Iraq on 15 September 2003, the Attorney General's office confirmed on Friday. Wow, this is pretty big. Does this mean that others can be held accountable for other civilian wounding/deaths?
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2004 "shooting a 13 year child" in itself is not enough to prosecute though. I mean, was the kid armed, and considered dangerous, or was he just playing soccer? The charge is too vague.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2004 If the case was that the kid was not armed and he wasn't hit in a firefight then yes he should be held accountable. If it was crossfire then no, he shouldn't be charged.
Guest Hero to all Children Report post Posted July 2, 2004 Back in 'Nam they had little children with dynamite belts (mostly hidden) run at the soldiers and then blow themselves up, be radio-exploded. It worked a few times for each unit, then the guy just started shooting children that came within blast radius. I'm sure John Kerry can tell you some more about this. Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2004 If the kid was aiming a gun at the solider or was strapped with a bomb then the soldier should let off the hook.
Guest INXS Report post Posted July 4, 2004 The kid was unarmed. The soldier was on guard duty at the time, although it's feasible that the soldier may have thought the kid was hostile.
Guest Cerebus Report post Posted July 4, 2004 When the millitants/terrorists use 10 year olds to fire RPG on troops and drape younger children in the wonderful culture of suicide bombers how can we avoid awful shit like this? Christ, if the blacks had used suicide bombers in the 60s we would still have segregation. When will these shit-for-brains learn to get thier heads out of their asses?
