Marlon Brando, Dead at 80

Recommended Posts

You know what really scares me? With Hollywood's recent "Let's remake everything!" philosphy, they will eventually get to Godfather or On The Waterfront. Nobody could do those roles except Brando, nobody.

Actually, I've always thought if one was gonna remake "The Godfather", it should be done as a mini-series, there's a lot of stuff in the book that was discarded for the film, and because the characters are so rich I feel expanding things could be interesting.

And as for who could play Vito? Simple, DeNiro, he's old enough now to play Vito at the age Brando played him.

Ain't that a bitch, I just saw Godfather for the first time a few days ago. RIP Brando. I'm suprised it wasn't a car bomb that got him.

The Godfather should be left untouched. No cast of current actors will touch Brando, Pacino, DeNiro, Caan, and Duvall, so just leave it as it is. Besides, Francis Ford Coppola would never allow them to remake it. (Though he did make Part III...)

his unprofessional attitude from the 70s onward was a pox upon the craft of acting, but god damn if he couldn't command a scene like nobody else. the only guy who could ever match his effortlessness was jimmy stewart, and i don't think anybody since him has graced the screen with so much pure, raw talent.

i talked some shit about him earlier in the week before his death, but seeing his picture and reading his obituary in the paper did make me sad. this wasn't a totally unexpected happening (since he was 80 and all), and as an acting legend we really lost him a long time ago, but this is still something momentous.

I remember Brando playing a role in the original Superman. He was good in it.

RIP
