UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2004 Curious. I've seen all of these but 1, and obviously know the results of it. If you were to pickup these 4 movies, what wouldja watch first? Not asking for help, curious to your personal tastes. They were 5.99 each, buy 2, get 2 free. 1. WWE Unforgiven '99 (6-Pack Main Event...E & C Vs. Outlaws) 2. WCW Superbrawl 8 (1998...Hogan/Sting, Steiners, Guerrera unmasks, Booker T wrestles 2 clinics) 3. WCW Uncensored '99 (Flair/Hogan, Horsemen/Windham and Hennig, Saturn/Jericho) 4. WWE Breakdown (Sept. 98) Kane/Taker/Austin, Rock/Foley/Shamrock, Edge/Owen The triple cage of Shamrock/Rock/Foley *made* Rock that much more over, IMO. Never saw Booker's two big TV title bouts back to back. Personally, I'd go: Superbrawl 8, Breakdown, Uncensored, Unforgiven
Slickster 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2004 I'd do the same thing. Interesting choices, all, especially SBVIII (The only SuperBrawl I'd actually want to see).
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2004 Well they only had like 10 tapes to choose from. ONE of which was the first ever Coliseum Video from 1985, Bleeps, Bloops n Bodyslams. The others were Vince Russo WCW shit...Spring Stampede 00, Halloween Havoc 99, Mayhem 99, Starrcade 99, Souled Out 00, Uncensored 00 and GAB 99. Which are awful shows I already made copies of. Wish they had Stampede 99.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 4, 2004 Personally, I would go with Breakdown simply for the triple threat cage match. where was this at?
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2004 The PPV: Canada The video store: Central/South Jersey You know, that crowd at San Francisco for SB 8 was HOT, considering a couple of the stinkers they sat through. There's just a SEA of nWo shirts in the crowd marking out for Steiner's heel turn, Outsider's winning, Hogan posing, etc.
res37618 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2004 Well they only had like 10 tapes to choose from. ONE of which was the first ever Coliseum Video from 1985, Bleeps, Bloops n Bodyslams. Wish they had Stampede 99. I would've gotten Mayhem '99 (in fact, I already own it) - some of that card is crap, but the opening Jarrett/Benoit match is really good, as well as the Benoit/Hart main event (though the Owen Tribute match was much better - I can't wait for the Benoit DVD to hit stores at the end of the month) Kudos for turning down Uncensored 00 and GAB 99 - two of the most atrocious cards ever put together by Vince Russo and Co. And I wish they'dve had Stampede '99 for you as well - that's probably in my top 5 favorite WCW shows EVER (and that includes the NWA days as well) - there's only one or two matches that really aren't good on that show, but the rest is just great. I even enjoyed the four-way main event, though the ending was kinda out of nowhere
deancoles 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2004 Personally I really liked the last 2 matches at Unforgiven 99, Jericho/X-Pac was one of the last good X-pac matches and the Main Event was a fun brawl. I got 5 videos for £15 in a closing down sale, Royal Rumble 2000(Better than I remembered),Our Time(A video of HHH & Chyna that was far better than I thought and has footage of HHH's initial Main event push complete with Chain Mail),In Your House 3(the Douglas/Razor/Kid feud rocked) Insurrextion 2001 and No Holds Barred. Guest bigdiswrestling Report post Posted July 6, 2004 Seeing as I own all of these on VHS, my personal choice, and reccomendation, for what order to watch them would be: Breakdown (good show, underrated) Uncensored 99 (alright show, but helps build for....) Superbrawl 8 (surprisingly good WCW PPV) Unforgiven 99 (i like this show a lot. 2nd to Last Russo PPV. You Might wanna fast forward the first couple matches though)
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2004 I've seen Mayhem 99 like 7 times. It's awful, except for a very good Benoit/JJ opener and a pretty good Bret/Benoit ME that is marred by ridiculous interference after interference. Breakdown is one of the more underrated PPVs the WWF/E produced, I agree.
geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2004 Anyone who lives in Cincy or around there can get any WWF event that came out on dvd, the media play in Florence now buys old dvd's and last time I was in there they had every title begining with Wrestlemania 15 "the ragin' climax." Also Phils records have some old WWF and WCW events on tape, I picked up starrcade 93. With them its hit and miss, but I have seen almost all of the ppvs there at one point or another.
