Guest Coffey Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 I've liked what I've seen so far. The Abyss/Shelley tag match just ended. The opener was decent enough and the Kazarian/Shane tag match was OK too. I like D-Ray 3000 with Shark Boy better than New Jack. Even in the hilarity department!
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 I have to say I'm highly impressed with how quickly TNA has turned the tag division around. They finally just stuck some guys together and now it actually seems like there's a division. I also find Kazarian and Michael Shane to be a lot less offensive as a tag team.
Guest Nelly's Bandaid Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 Good show, Abyss could be a top level main eventer if it weren't for his get up, solid credible moveset and a lot of natural power. Shelley looked good throughout aside from that wheelbarrow stunner spot where he just didn't seem to know what he was taking. Main event to me was the perfect type of X-division match they need to put on, not too long, fast and really packed with a lot of neat stuff. Williams flipping piledriver looks great when he seems to be doing it, not reversing a backbody drop into it. Double DDT spot was nice. Not liking anything that has to do with the Heavyweight belt right now, although I have to admit I found the ref trying to not look at the shattered guitar peices that were all around him funny as hell. Other matches weren't anything to talk about, unless someone wants to discuss how much Elix Skipper sucks.
TheBigSwigg Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 Other matches weren't anything to talk about, unless someone wants to discuss how much Elix Skipper sucks. I don't think Skipper sucks, though I used to, I just think he uses the same moves WAY too much. Every match has him using the tightrope hurricanrana. I'm getting sick of seeing it.
Guest Coffey Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 I agree that Abyss should be a contender. Did anyone else notice the look that he gave to Goldylocks & Shelley after Abyss got the pinfall and Goldy went to congratulate with Alex? Looks like Abyss will be flying solo again soon...which has to be a good thing. I think the main event scene should be livened up as well. Jarrett is well past played. Styles should stay in the X-Division. I'd like to see Abyss & Ken Shamrock floated around with The Truth, Raven and possibly an elevated Sonny Siaki. I still see a fuckton of potential in Siaki.

I also see a fuckton of potential in Siaki. (What the hell is a fuckton?) I would love to see O'Haire come in and feud with Shamrock, though. The stiffness alone would make it a good feud.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 How's Raven doing anyway? Still pretty sick or what? I think the main event scene right now is ok with Jarrett, D'Lo, Killings and Shamrock. That can carry them for a few months at least and it seems the World Title is on the backburner anyway. I like Abyss in the tag division because they need it badly. Shelley is new but the team has instant credibility since Abyss is in it and they have their achilles heel in Shelley. Great idea for a team in my opinion. So our tag division now is: AMW Naturals Triple X Kenney and Siaki Gilberti and Swinger Kazarian and Shane Shark Boy and D-Ray 3000 Abyss and Alex Shelley Sonjay Dutt and Sabu Very good tag team division compared to anything they've had since they started. Though I would like to see them bring back the Rainbow Express.
Astro101 Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 Good show today. Finally they make use of the time limit draw. I dunno if I would like it to determine new champions if they ever do that, though, seeing as how it's inconsistent with a time limit on Impact and no limit on the ppv. Love how Shelly whipped the dude into Abyss like that. And the Canadian Destroyer is awesome.
Guest suplexmasta Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 I enjoyed the show a good deal. Here are my opinions: Good: The Canadian Destroyer rocks AJ Styles looked great as always Jeff Hammond seems to have a clue, which is always an asset for an announcer Naturals/XXX seemed to click, with both utilizing tag team maneuvers, which I mark out for Shark Boy's gimmick never gets old Abyss and Shelley actually have good chemistry, which surprised the heck out of me Jerrelle and Mikey got far more offense than I would have thought. They really impressed me Bad 3LK/Elite Guard wasn't very productive Three ways, while fun to watch, must make sense in the booking. This seemed thrown together to a certain extent D-Ray just doesn't do anything for me, and neither he or SB had enough offense to make them seem like they had a clue Baby Bear? Baby Bear? Thanks for listening.
Guest The Last Free Voice Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 I thought the show was good. Shelley could be big in the X Divison. The tag division is coming along nicely, as is the whole AJ vs. The World thing in the X Division (which will hopefully lead to Daniels turning on AJ and kicking off that feud) The world title picture upsets me, becasue it could be AWESOME and it's just meh. And alow me to be extrememly vocal in WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY THINKING WITH DUSTY AND LARRY IN A MAIN EVENT? ::deep breath:: AND A FUCKING GUITAR ON A POLE MATCH!? Not good. TNA needs to stay away from using Dusty and Larry in big angles as wrestlers, and they really need to stay away from bad gimmick matches.
Guest Real F'n Show Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 I taped it, and I'm gonna watch it in a little while. I'll post my thoughts when I'm done.
Guest Reservoir_Kitty Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 The Canadian Destroyer was jaw-droppingly cool. I was watching in a sort of apathetic, just got home from work state of mind and that really woke me up. I'm glad TNA isn't afraid to let their talent do moves like that... 'cause I love 'em. I'm sick and tired of Jeff Jarrett, uggghh.. I just want to ram that guitar in his skull.
Michrome Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 I thought it was a fine show, but not a good show. Chris Daniels isn't close to 100%, that's for sure. He didn't look like himself at all in there, and I'm worried about him rushing back like this. The Naturals are really green, but I think they could be good. The team of Abyss and Shelley is neat, but Baby Bear? Cmon. I think it's somewhat of a waste of Shelley to be teaming with Abyss, hopefully he'll get to wrestle with some smaller guys. The whole 3 live Krew-Jarrett thing is horrible. The main event was fun, but the purist in me rolled my eyes at 3 things: 1) The ridiculous sleeper move AJ does 2) The 450 kneedrop 3) The canadian destroyer.
Guest The Last Free Voice Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 I'm sick and tired of Jeff Jarrett, uggghh.. I just want to ram that guitar in his skull. Okay, this one's okay! just kidding. The entire situation was blown up to big, so I'm mocking it. And yes, teh Destroyer is infreaking credible. Problem is, Sabin and Red seem to be the only guys willing (capeable?) of taking it. And that 's the first time he's gotten a pin off of it. The Sleeper spot is actually a modifaction of a spot I've seen him use like Sabins Uranage backbreaker, he jsut did it out of a sleeper that time.
Guest Markingout Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 And yes, teh Destroyer is infreaking credible. Problem is, Sabin and Red seem to be the only guys willing (capeable?) of taking it. And that 's the first time he's gotten a pin off of it. Petey has done it to many others before his TNA gig. All the guy recieving the move has to do its kind of do a backflip, and Petey holds on to you, and flips foward.
Guest The Last Free Voice Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 I haven't seen any of his non TNA efforts, so I really couldn't say. It was just an observation. has he done it to people substansilly taller than him? (Whitmer in IWA-MS or people close in stature?)
Guest Real F'n Show Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 Thoughts: I really liked the opener, although someone is right that Daniels doesn't look 100% yet. I marked out for Elix's Miracle Ectasy Bomb. Kazarian/Shane vs. Sharkboy and D-Ray was okay for what it was. The best part of the match was Traci though. She's smoking hot. Abyss/Alex Shelley vs. Clark and Batts was decent enough. I thought the NWA Florida guys looked good and should be brought back. Shelley didn't get to show much of his awesome offense, but that's to be expected. Elite Guard/3LK bored the hell out of me. I fast forwarded through most of this whole segment. Main event was a good match with some cool spots. The 3 of them really didn't seem to click, however, and AJ seemed off his game tonight. Good enough though, and the Canadian Destroyer is sick. I hate that new announcer guy already, though. But then again, I hate Nascar and rednecks in general, so that's to be expected...
Silence Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 Decent show, but I sure hope Daniels doesn't reinjure himself as a result of rushing back to the ring too quickly. Please don't pull a Kurt Angle, Daniels. It's not worth it.
Guest korndogg123 Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 Maybe it's just me, but Shane/Kazarian look like a heel version of the Rockers. Interesting to mention that since Shane is the HBK's cousin. But these guys could be really great w/ somethin like that. Really glad to finally see the Fallen Angel on the show.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 Kazarian and Michael Shane are a lot better in tag teams. As much as I hated them as singles wrestlers I'm starting to like them as a tag team.
Guest TDinDC1112 Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 I don't think a 5 minute match (main event) can be any more entertaining than that was.
Guest netslob Posted July 12, 2004 Report Posted July 12, 2004 whereas i like this Shelly guy, after only seeing him twice, the "Baby Bear" thing really sucks. yeah, i get the joke, he's managed by Goldylocks, ha ha, but they should've at least have gone with "Papa Bear". it at least sounds tougher. ...oh who am i kidding, no it doesn't.
