Triple H - A man in the crosshairs

Recommended Posts

After watching RAW, it seems to me ol' HHH has a busy future for himself. From my view, he has 3 people he has either been trying to take out or go after him. Here are suspects...

Eugene- Got his ass whipped and bloodied by HHH last night. Probably going to want revenge.

Chris Benoit- Benoit has the World title. HHH wants it. End story.

Edge- He's promised to take out Evolution one-by-one. 2 down, 2 to go...

So HHH has to face one of these guys at Summerslam. Who will it be?

Meltzer was talking about a three way for the title with Benoit vs HHH vs Eugene.

I hope that's not the case as Eugene is a comedy character that just shouldn't be competing for the belt.

After watching RAW and Vengence I think there is a very simple answer to this. Trips will apologize for what he did to Eugene and the time building up to the main event trips will try to get in Eugene's good graces again. So I am calling a Triple H vs. Chris Benoit rematch for the title with Eugene as the special guest referee.

With all due respect, you're wrong.

In the last few weeks they've made Eugene the most interesting character in recent memory. He's more than a comedy character at this point. He DESERVES that spot in the ME ranks if they want him there, hell he's as good in the ring as a vanilla midget... but he HAS a personality. Why shouldn't he be there?

Oh, and it's a little late to claim Eugene shouldn't compete for the belt when he demolished the World Champ last night.

He should face Edge or Jericho after he wins the belt at Summerslam. They should put Benoit in a program with the other Evolution members. You also have to consider that if they turn Edge heel, he'll probably feud with Benoit first.

You do realize you're about to be killed for suggesting a HHH/Jericho program, right?

Judging by the incredibly spotty heat Eugene got last night and the fact that the fans have no idea how to react to him, a ME at SS is questionable. they'd have to work for at least 2 weeks in re-establishing him as a babyface and not so much being on the ropes, and you'd take away from what the focus of a title feud should be (the fucking belt) in the build up for the title match in the 2nd biggest show of the year. Get Eugene out of the Trips/Benoit feud, and keep him in the Evolution feud.

Yeah, they HAD no idea how to react to him.

Then HHH turned on him, and now he's playing face again.

Plus, Benoit had less heat then Eugene did.

Right, I know it wasn't his fault, and I like Eugene, but the focus of the SUMMERSLAM title match needs to be off of this soap opera shit and put full on the fact that HHH and Benoit need to duke it out 1 on 1 to sees whos the best. Without Michaels in a 3 way, without Evolution or Edge in tag matches, and without Eugene biting his fingernails and swinging chairs.

How about Elimination Chamber? Eugene, HHH, Benoit, Kane, Edge, and Orton?

Replace Kane with Batista and it sounds good.

The next EC seriously needs to be SD! people. Plus having the same Raw main event at SS as last year (with interchangables of course) would be kind of stupid, IMO.

Benoit/HHH

Eugene/Flair

Edge/Batista

Jericho/Orton

Kane has claim to get a shot, while Batista only beat Jericho but it would be kind of cool if it started with HHH vs. Orton or Batista vs Orton.

Yeah, but I figure Kane should be doing something with Matt Hardy or some such at SS since that's what's been going on for two months now.

How does Kane have a claim? He lost both title matches to Benoit, lost to Edge, and just lost to Hardy.

True but he is also a known big player and it would make it more upredictable and less like a HHH victory.

I think the plan is for a Kane/HBK match since Hardy needs knee surgery.

I'm going to pretend you didn't insinuate that Eugene is as good in-ring as Benoit is.

Because that is a comment that even your levels of ignornace have yet to reach.

Or at least they had yet to reach. You've made it. Congratulations.

He's not as good as Benoit... but he's certainly in his league. Just look at his work in OVW.

By the way, I'm not really trouble when an ignoramus calls me ignorant.

You gotta feel bad for Kane with the booking he has been given this year. Has he even won a match this year?. You had Kane/Edge ( Edge is fresh on the return, Kane just got his ass handed to him by Taker). Kane loses TWICE to Benoit and moves on to a feud with Hardy that he LOSES. Now he's up against HBK who he took out on Raw, and his chances look slim.

HBK could never get the job done with HHH, loses clean in the blowoff, and comes back into a feud with a guy who desperately needs a big win, but the feud is booked on revenge, so you know the finish here. Poor Kane.

Triple H needs a bigger push so he can become more of a main-eventer and less of a spot-machine.

I've yet to see Dinsmore's work in OVW (though I certainly would like to) but I fail to believe that a WWE farm-raised wrestler who's known and worked one style his entire life can be considered in the same league as Chris Benoit.

Forgive me for not taking your word for it.

Then shut the fuck up, because obviously you have no frame of reference on debating the relative potential merits of Dinsmore and Benoit at this point in their respective careers. Benoit himself has said that he was extremely impressed with Dinsmore's work in OVW, and when their match together was pretty tremendous as well.

I'd rather you explain to me why you consider Dinsmore to be in the same league as Benoit.

State your source and explain why you think so.

On the Rockin' Rumble 2000 show on a bootleg DVD was my first experience with Dinsmore, he had a match with Al Snow on that card for the OVW Title that I would give four stars, which is saying A LOT for Dinsmore considering Snow's present condition. What surprised me the most about Dinsmore was how he worked a style that was so different to the top guys in the WWE at the time (I watched this DVD around 2001/2002):

His matches were filled with a lot of counters and chain wrestling that I hadn't really been exposed to at that time, it was all done very quickly and crisply, showing he has a lot of athletisicism. Unlike a lot of younger guys Dinsmore will NOT blow up, he can do long matches. Also, there's something that I didn't see between him and Snow, but you can see every week on RAW: an understanding of his character and how to work it into a match to the match's benefit, and not it's detriment. In many ways, he's a throwback to the 80's.

So we've covered athletisicism, character, technique, and there's one other thing I like about him: intensity. It's something you get glimpses of in the Euegene chaarcter. One of the things I like about Dean malenko, isn't anything in particular he does in the ring, but the sense that he's been doing this all his life and he wouldn't want to be doing anything else: I get that from Dinsmore, too.

Keep in mind these are purely subjective reasons, but all opinions are.

Actually this wouldn't be a new thing of comedy characters being annihilated by HHH becoming the third wheel in a one-on-one match at Summerslam.

That said I don't wanna see Eugene as champ for even as much time as the Bret/Yoko/Hogan switch. Not that it's good, just not like it hasn't happened before.
