LaParkaYourCar Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 I found this article on WWE.com today: http://www.wwe.com/news/headlines/1270376 From RAW Roulette to '777,' Eric Bischoff tries his hand at reality TV by Anthony Cali Whether you like Eric Bischoff or think he’s a slimy deplorable human being, one thing is for sure, the man has a knack for creating intriguing television. Since accepting the position as Monday Night RAW’s General Manager in July 2002, Bischoff has been stirring the pot, creating key matches, and keeping WWE fans on the edge of their seats. And while he may have sold out his own nephew and made life miserable for many of WWE’s Superstars, the Bisch deserves credit. With ideas such as the Elimination Chamber and RAW Roulette, the crafty GM has managed to make RAW must-see TV. Lately, Bischoff has been lending his creative genius to other venues, and in the near future, fans will be treated to Bischoff’s first taste of reality TV. Alongside Jason Hervey (of “Wonder Years” fame), Scott Sternberg, and Rick Hilton, Bischoff is currently working on several new projects that he hopes will become the next “Survivor” or “American Idol.” One of his new shows will actually take key elements from those popular series, put a new twist on them, and create intriguing premises that will satisfy reality TV fans. The show, tentatively titled “777,” will feature seven multi-millionaires, each putting up one million dollars of their own money to compete in a special seven-day gambling competition that will take place in Las Vegas. The winner will take home seven million dollars, and, more importantly, would become an instant celebrity, much like AI’s Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken. Once the idea is picked up by a major network, the search for seven carefree millionaires will begin. Another of the team’s titles has already been brought to Los Angeles and sold to NBC. The show, tentatively titled “The Good Life,” will play off of the success of “The Simple Life.” Rather than following Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton around to watch them begrudgingly perform trivial tasks, this will be based on the extraordinary life of Paris’ mother, Kathy. The series is currently in production, and will be in NBC’s primetime programming lineup in the fall. Interesting.
Guest Trivia247 Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 jesus christ can't anyone in the WWE just stick to fucking wrestling?
Guest Choken One Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 Basically, they are telling us Eric won't be around much longer which we all have begun to expect since a few weeks ago.
Dangerous A Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 Thank God Eric looks to be going off the show. He was starting to get stale. Now all I can wish for is WWE ween itself off of authority figure characters on their shows and just let things happen. It's too bad that the writers are too lazy and scared to try to do a show without an authority figure pushing the action.
Guest Trivia247 Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 Then we will miss in inexplainable Hatred for Eugene and bent on his utter destruction disregarding the feelings of his fictional sister just because....
LaParkaYourCar Posted July 14, 2004 Author Report Posted July 14, 2004 Oops I just found a thread where this was mentioned. I knew once I posted it I would find it somewhere else. However, this article mentions a second reality show that wasn't mentioned in the other thread. So it's not a total waste.
justcoz Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 Another one of Bischoff's projects, which he will begin soon after leaving WWE as an on-air talent, is finding a wrestling promoter with a cable television deal. Bischoff plans to entice this promoter and cable network with his resume in sports entertainment and experience in building a successful highly-rated televised wrestling program. He will also lure the promoter's son into believing that he will make him a huge crossover media star. By mixing the innovative wrestling style and workrate of somewhat smaller competitors with modest name and face appeal of underapprecited WWE talent and huge names who bring with them ego and a mission to "stick it to the McMahons", Bischoff hopes to land this promotion with a prime time Monday night time slot. Initial plans are to reveal to the interested network the creative weaknesses, dated philosophies and vulnerbility of WWE Raw, since Bischoff now has two years worth of inside knowledge as to how they produce the program on a week by week basis. Bischoff will promise the network that not only can he attract big names and celebrity appearances but ratings as well, pointing to the ratings he previously delivered with Monday Nitro. He will ask for plenty of air time to take shots at McMahon and the WWE product but will be accompanied by the promoter's son in an effort to get him and his guitar massively over. Stay tuned for part two of the Monday Night Wars.
Kizzo Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 Looks as if Uncle Eric will be leaving WWE soon...DAMNIT
2GOLD Posted July 15, 2004 Report Posted July 15, 2004 Your nuuuuuu Raw G.M. Stephanie McMahon! The McMahon Helmsley era will be REBORN! Surely this can only be a sign of GOOD things *positive on the outside, crying on the inside*
DrVenkman PhD Posted July 15, 2004 Report Posted July 15, 2004 Since I've heard nothing about a contract renewal (which expired this month), I've been assuming for weeks now Eric is out the door. When they announced Eugene would be GM the first Raw of July, I thought that would be it, but it was announced (way back then... just so I can point out how little of a news bit this post is) he was just taking a week off to pitch these two shows.

Why in God's name want HIM gone?
Jobber of the Week Posted July 15, 2004 Report Posted July 15, 2004 Eric was good as a sleze, but I think when he had to utter the phrase "big breasted beauty" it was time to pull the plug. Farewell, Bischoff. It's a shame your WWF tenure was less of a big splash and more like a rock skipping along the very top of the pond.

I don't like authority figures...but Bischoff is the only guy that is natural with it......and believe it or not...I think his personality has become attached to RAW.....and RAW wouldn't be RAW without seeing Eric...for the time being if he does leave...

algrim Posted July 15, 2004 Report Posted July 15, 2004 Christ, again with the McMahons. There goes RAW. I doubt Foley would want to come back now. It's also likely Vince might want to call Austin (no sheriff gimmick, please).

Why in God's name want HIM gone? Paul Heyman>Eric Bischoff Just thought I might point that out Anyway, I'm kind of sad to see him go. He's become pretty bland (not horrible though), but they don't really have anyone to replace him with, so it'll probably be Steph (great...). I'm scared.
Guest Choken One Posted July 15, 2004 Report Posted July 15, 2004 I could easily see Linda "firing" Eric Bischoff for treating Eugene like that (they can say it was reckless conduct of a employee's safety) William Regal to spite Bischoff is named the New GM.
ChrisMWaters Posted July 15, 2004 Report Posted July 15, 2004 If only either Jack Tunney or Gorilla Monsoon were still alive... THEY knew how to do the Authority Figure role RIGHT. Something WWE has sorta forgotten over the years apparently. ...really evil thought...what if they bring Hulk Hogan back as GM of Raw?
Guest Loss Posted July 15, 2004 Report Posted July 15, 2004 The McMahons haven't been on TV in months. Stop criticizing them for putting the McMahons on TV, please.
Guest croweater Posted July 15, 2004 Report Posted July 15, 2004 Who the hell wants to see millionares win money????? What a stupid idea.
Guest Mr. Wrestling Posted July 15, 2004 Report Posted July 15, 2004 Actually Eric Bischoff was involved in Girls Gone Wild so it's completely feasible that he could resign with the WWE. Letting Bischoff go would be a BIG mistake since he knows the inner working of the WWE and could use it against them. We all know Bischoff will do ANYTHING to be a success. Though TNA will need Eric Bischoff or someone similar to stay alive. Eric Bischoff knows how to book the X-Division and that is TNA's focal point.
AndrewTS Posted July 15, 2004 Report Posted July 15, 2004 The McMahons haven't been on TV in months. Stop criticizing them for putting the McMahons on TV, please. Angle's going to be wrestling again. Heyman's entrenched in Smackdown angles and probably will be staying on that show for a while. Austin's probably not coming back. Teddy Long's sorta busy. Doesn't it seem very likely a McMahon will be the new Raw GM if Bischoff goes? William Regal to spite Bischoff is named the New GM. If anyone, hopefully.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted July 15, 2004 Report Posted July 15, 2004 Letting Bischoff go would be a BIG mistake since he knows the inner working of the WWE and could use it against them. I would assume the WWE would sign him to a gag order, but then again they let Russo go to WCW freehanded.

AndrewTS Posted July 15, 2004 Report Posted July 15, 2004 I believe he was referring to when Heyman was GM vs. when Angle was GM. I can't say I'm surprised that Zsasz would conduct himself like this...since he does it constantly....

I can't say I'm surprised that Zsasz would conduct himself like this...since he does it constantly.... When Heyman was GM vs. when Angle was GM? When did THAT happen? Oh and coming from the guy who has a two page argument in the HCTP thread about how you should be able to make the female competitors bleed what you have to say doesn't mean a whole lot.
AndrewTS Posted July 15, 2004 Report Posted July 15, 2004 So I dreamed that whole period of "Paul Heyman's Smackdown" after Stephanie was replaced and before Heyman was to be drafted to Raw, quit, and Angle was put in his place? Oh wow, a completely unrelated and off-topic comment that somehow is supposed to validate you snapping and insulting some one. How very "you." I should expect this level of maturity from a James Bond fan, though.

That never happened as those two never went head to head. Oooh make fun of James Bond, but I'm still smarter than you'll ever be. AND I'm not a pervert who wants to see girls bleed for my sick pleasures.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted July 15, 2004 Report Posted July 15, 2004 Oh my Lord, Andrew. I heard the WWE may be using a Japanese man to play a Chinese character. THIS MUST BE STOPPED. The Chinese and Japanese ARE NOTHING ALIKE, DAMMIT!
