Kurt Angle Mark 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2004 By Dave Meltzer Smackdown delivered a 3.3 rating last night, and that isn't including the Los Angeles market. That's a very good number when you consider big matches with Eddie Guerrero usually do better in Los Angeles than most markets. Note: Smackdown was not shown in L.A. because of Dodger baseball
Guest combat_rock Report post Posted July 17, 2004 That's good to hear. Hopefully the word got around about the improvements the show made last week, and more tuned in this week. Y'know, this would probably sound crazy to Vince, but if you please your fans, your ratings will increase.

Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2004 Hmmm. Eddie is champ, and the rest of the show is garbage. JBL wins the belt, and suddenly the rest of the show is booked better, and they utilize the cruisers as something other than hoss fodder.
algrim 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2004 It's great that SD!'s ratings are up. Vince has to remember to cater to different people's needs. I, for one, prefer athleticism over "entertainment." One thing I have to ask is how will Eddie's injury afffect the ratings. If the injury isn't too bad that it requires rehab, they should let Eddie make apperances, kind of like what Austin did back in 1997.

Ratings are up because people like to see a face chasing for the belt, when he had it, the show was stagnant.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2004 True, but the overall quality of the shows (from the top all the way down to the lower card) are up now as opposed to when Eddie was champ. I'm sure it wasn't an intentional sabotaging of Eddie's run, but the fact is the entire show is better now than when Eddie was champ, leading to better ratings.
