AboveAverage484 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2004 Okay, here's the scoop: My internet's actual speed is fine; downloads are at normal speed, pictures and graphics load at normal times; but some pages take an agonizingly long time to load. (Thank God this page isn't one of them.) Some take so long to load up that my screen will freeze for about 30 seconds or so until the page loads. This has been happening the last couple weeks and it's really drivin' me nuts! Help, please! Edit: Yes, I know that the "is" in the title should be an "are", I just noticed it. AboveAverage484 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2004 Clear your Temp Files and Cookies. That was the first thing I tried, Rant. What about "tweaking" web sites; do they help any at all? Edit: And did that guy who replied first get banned or something, cuz now all of a sudden he's unregistered?
Guest ian. Report post Posted July 19, 2004 Yes. Anyways, this has happened to me. Everything was so slow, and i contributed it to spyware. I ran ad-aware, and everything froze, so I had to restart. Well, long story short I had to do a system recovery cause it woulnd't start back up, I'd say it's either spyware or an actual virus, but I could be wrong. Guest Dumb Fuck Report post Posted July 26, 2004 Run Ad-Aware. Also try this... it helped me. Start -> Run -> IPCONFIG / FLUSHDNS
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2004 is your entire computer melting down or is it just DSL load times? After the last few months of overall computer slowdown in performance(DSL Loadtimes was about the only normal thing still working fine) I finally gave in and did a full system restore earlier tonight. Worked like a charm and the only thing I had to lose was a bunch of mp3s that I can get back anytime I want. Now the computer is working like I just took it out of the box. AboveAverage484 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2004 Well, it must have had something to do with Internet Explorer, because the load times on it were ungodly. I downloaded Mozilla and everything works great now. Thanks for all the suggestions though guys.
