griffinmills 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2004 I remember thinking that, when the three new Williams Street cartoons and Harvey Birdman all hit pretty much at once, the ATHF sounded so "un-promising" I barely gave it a chance and that I thought The Brak Show would pound them all. Amazingly it turned out the Sealab 2021 and ATHF ruled the roost with Brak and Harvey trailing behind. Brak still pulls out some good stuff but Birdman just seemed to slowly fade out with the best of them being echos of the Apache Chief and Doctor Quest episodes (kind of like how Commissioner Gordon was saying about US Presidents in Dark Knight Returns.) ATHF and Sealab just gets better with each season, which is the normal progression for most TV shows. Yet somehow Harvey Birdman slowly loses something. For some reason they tweaked the characters in The Brak Show and ended up with something not quite right. Brak too smart, Zorak too nice and of course Mom's voice change. Although Thundercleese and Dad are awesome so you end up with a show where the Star and his "sidekick" aren't as good as the supporting cast. ATHF episodes get better every time you watch them while it can be a chore to sit through certain Brak episodes (Weird Al living in a giant Worm anyone?) Scroby 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2004 Birdman gets better and better every season you just can't go wrong with Birdman, Brak on the other hand got stale and yes Penguin Thundercleese rules. So it basically got cancelled and is only being shown in re-runs now. But you gotta love Birdman.
Crimson G 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2004 I don't know what you're talking about griffinmills. Harvey Birdman is still as awesome as ever. It's just ATHF is one of the funniest shows on TV right now. Harvey had no chance to compete. Sealab 2021 is hit and miss, although I did enjoy the episode about Sealabia that they recently showed. The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2004 I spent the majority of yesterday smoking joints and watching ATHF DVD's - my buddy got seasons 1 and 2, so we watched all of 2 and most of 1. I think my brain melted.
Guest Reservoir_Kitty Report post Posted July 22, 2004 Haha, good to see the Aqua Teens getting some proper love around here. It's one of the funniest cartoons I've ever seen. I can't wait til payday, I'm going to score the ATHF and Sealab DVDs. I think the Christmas robot ep was on recently too.. it could've been weeks ago, all my days are running into one another. *coma*
The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2004 Birdman RULES, period. The Jetsons Pollution episode is GOLDEN. George: We come from the future...Year 2002! Birdman: Uhmmmm...okay?
Eclipse 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2004 I picked it up, and this DVD rules. I can't get enough of that Christmas Robot! I thought it ATHF was shit at first. But, I sat down and watched a couple of eps, and this was my kind of show. VOLUME 2 RULES!
Crimson G 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2004 I assume you're all talking about Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Past From the Future, which is (IMO) the greatest character name ever devised. He's far from the greatest "villain" in the series, however. That title clearly belongs to the Mooninites.
EricMM 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2004 I have a love/hate relationship w/ ATHF. Yes the show is funny. I caught the pilots of ATHF/Birdman/Sealab one time on Cartoon Network back in 2000 at 3 am and almost died laughing. Needless to say I was glad when it went into regular rotation on [as]. But that kind of quick senseless stoner comedy has maimed [as], especially my favorite show: Home Movies. Well, in any event, the ATHF DVDs are fun, but they are soooo overpriced. Thirty dollars for eleven 11 minute episodes? There's just not enough there, same w/ the Sealab DVD. Besides they show ATHF twice a night now, I got no reason to buy a dvd when the series repeats monthly...

Guest FileCabinet Report post Posted July 24, 2004 The short amount of episodes for the two DVDs is a turn-off. I may get the Aqua Teens DVD soon because of all the positive reviews for the extras. I'll wait a while before getting the Sealab DVD. The price is too high for the low amount of episodes and lack of extras. The first season of Sealab was the only one I really cared about, so I'll get it eventually. But that kind of quick senseless stoner comedy has maimed [as], especially my favorite show: Home Movies. Well, then don't forget to buy the Home Movies Season One DVD this November.

Besides they show ATHF twice a night now, I got no reason to buy a dvd when the series repeats monthly... Whoa, whoa. I don't feel that ATHF is anywhere near as guilty of "random *** confusing bull**** as Sealab is. It's like Wms St. saves their best material for ATHF and Sealab ends up with whatever's left over. Which is fine by me, since I like ATHF much more anyway. Agreed about the value. Come on, they could have done a lot better than that. However, ATHF is still probably only my second/third favorite on there, with Mission Hill and Family Guy ahead of it. Anime doesn't seem to really count as part of the lineup, but if they did I like Case Closed, Cowboy Bebop, and Inuyasha all more than it. It's still funny, though. Gotta love Carl and Dr. Weird. However, I absolutely loathed the first episodes and didn't bother seeing it again until a few months ago. Seriously...watch something like Mooninites Revenge and then try to watch Rab-Bot again. It's a world of difference even if Rab-Bot actually features them doing their entire range of animations. However, I'll agree they've dropped the ball on the Brak Show and Harvey Birdman. Still, Botox Droopy was a great ep. Brak Show suffers from..well, Brak. He's never, ever been funny on his own. He sucked on Cartoon Planet, he sucked in his cameos on Space Ghost, and he sucked in his own show. Thank goodness for his dad, Thundercles, and of course Zorak for making that show. EricMM 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2004 Well, then don't forget to buy the Home Movies Season One DVD this November. Believe me, I am all about that. I hope they really stack on the extras, but I'll be buying it anyways. I have all the Home Movies eps on my computer, but they're large, or they're ugly. But home movies season one has some of the best episodes.
Jorge Gorgeous 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2004 I love ATHF, I'm gonna go pick it up tomorrow. It took a while for it to grow on me, but once it did it was like some kind of plague. I was like a ritual for me all spring, pop in the DVD and watch a couple episodes before bed.
Krankor 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2004 The ATHF V2 dvd's are a must purchase. The extras are pretty cool also. I got Sealab at the same time also. You've gotta love the Happy Cake Oven episode and the Time Warp episode with multiple Quinns and Stormys. Stormy: Hey Quinns! Stormy 3 snuck in a dodge ball! Quinn1: Shut up Stormy: No Quinn1: What time is it! Quinn2: Goo-yit! Stormy: Dodge Ball Time! Quinn1: Damn it Stormy what time is it! Quinn3: Goo-yit! Stormy: I said it was Dodge Ball Time bitch. Hopefully Harvey Birdman will get released on dvd.
PsychoDriver 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2004 Hopefully Harvey Birdman will get released on dvd. According to reports Birdman will be out in Spring 2005. Here is what's set for the next year or so according to TVShowsonDVD.com: Winter '04 Brak V1 Sealab V2 Spring 05: SGC2C V3 Birdman V1 Summer '05 ATHF V3 Sealab V3 Fall '05 SGC2C V4 Venture V1 Hopefully they can work on making them longer too. 13 11 minute shows just doesn't feel like enough for the $24.99 most places charge for them.
