Guest combat_rock Report post Posted July 24, 2004 Yeah, and Steph actually had a good term being impartial. In fact, even the whole Mr. America debacle started off well. It was really a case of Steph knowing that having Hogan was the best thing for her show (this is kayfabe talking, mind you), so she stood up for it. But then it got personal, and we got things like that ridiculous half hour sit down interview with her, and her constantly using "the screech of death" on Sable. Horrible. Anyway, I second the nomination of Teddy Long. Obviously, they dropped the whole "black supremicist" thing when he teamed with Jindrack, and I think he would make a good impartial figure, now that he's been off TV for a few weeks. Silence 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2004 Anyway, I second the nomination of Teddy Long. Obviously, they dropped the whole "black supremicist" thing when he teamed with Jindrack, and I think he would make a good impartial figure, now that he's been off TV for a few weeks. Too bad Long became a lot more annoying when he managed Jindrak, though. Yelling "Show it! Show it! Take it off! Take it off!" and "Myyyyy, my-my-my-my!" for a generic wrestler showing off his abs was enough to piss me off, and not in a good way, either. Still, if only WWE would let Long talk normally and not have to saddle him with shitty catchphrases, then I wouldn't mind him as the new Smackdown GM, just as long as he's impartial. However, there might be a slim chance of that happening since WWE has usually had either a pro-face or a pro-heel authority figure in recent years.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2004 Fuck it i'm just gonna put down Mean Gene cause he isn't got a damn thing to do in the WWE anymore. Mean Gene could be good, I mean he's got the experiance of being in the WWE for so many many years, why not?
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2004 ^At least then we'll know the no smoking rules will be enforced backstage.^ Linda said a few weeks back that they would be holding elections for new presidents of Raw and Smackdown to coincide with the upcoming presidential election, so they might not introduce a new authority figure until then. Another winner from the McMahon house of ideas. By the time November rolls around, everyone's going to be so sick of hearing about elections that the idea will bomb hard. Toxxic 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2004 They should bring in a WWF oldtimer. Someone the fans already like and could actually defend himself if need be. Taker, when he retires. Assuming we ditch the DeadMan bollocks, he had the whole 'mutual respect' thing going before anyway. I think he could pull off a fair GM, someone who would make the matches because they needed to be made but was unlikely to be intimidated because a) he's a legend and b) he's just so damn big that not many people would try intimidating him anyway. But then again, we had the problems with Austing putting himself over active talent, and Taker might be even worse...

Just John 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2004 Good call by EHME on page 1. It should be good as long as he isn't a heel.
algrim 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2004 Long as GM? He's the perfect men for the job. He'll stop all the "haterization" in the locker room.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2004 Even though I got sick of them taking up TV time, Bischoff wasn't as annoying when he had Austin to keep him in line. The evil GM role is compltly dead, every week it's matches with Kane and hanidcap matches. The writing team needs their heads cut off.

CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2004 I would prefer a impartial GM. The only one we've had since the brand extension has been Steph. As long as she just stays a GM, I'll be fine with her.

Scroby 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2004 I was seriously pulling for Mean Gean too, hmm oh well I was hoping they do something with a 50/50 GM but it looks like we got another heel GM.

See, this is the problem with GMs, even impartial ones. They build WHOLE ANGLES around them and waste tons of TV time that could be used for matches, promos, or hell, Lawler hawking Jerry Lawler's Hair Plugs for Men. There have been several occassions where there was more emphasis put on "WHO IS GOING TO BE THE GM?" then who was going to be the champ, or number one contender. That is just plain bullshit. Hell, sometimes the competition for the GM spots and announcer spots is more intense then the title picture. And I don't like the idea of an impartial GM either, because wrestlers look like total pussies when they are forced to back off from someone sitting on his ass behind a desk. Guest Anglesault Report post Posted July 27, 2004 I prefer Shane over Stephanie. I know some of you guys tolerate her because of her looks, but she is simply too annoying. Even though both McMahon brats will be involved in the storylines, Shane plays face better. Shane would absolutely destroy the show and everyone on the roster. Do you seriously think he would go more than a couple of weeks before making every heel there look like an ass (by getting their asses kicked by Shane) and every face look usesless (They can't do what Shane can?) Shane, all by himself ruined the unmasked Kane character. I'd prefer it if I never saw him on TV again.
