Guest whitemilesdavis Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 So anyway, Mike, who do you think would be the best money match for TNA?
Guest whitemilesdavis Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 Christopher Daniels has about as much of "the look" as my junior high science teacher. If your Junior high science teacher can put on a ***** match, I'll pay to see him.
Guest The Last Free Voice Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 Okay, I don't like this new guy. What TNA needs to do is come up with a new feud. Like, something Innovative. Like what WCW did with the NWO, that hadn't been done (at least like that and that well) before. TNA needs to find soemthing that will hook the fans and make them want to buy the shows. Mabye make the X Division totally open. Everyone wants at everyone, and each week throw out two or four guys and jsut let them cut loose. Or something.
Guest Coffey Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 I don't know if TNAW has a money match yet. They need to establish a top babyface first, then have that babyface chase a top heel leading up to a big PPV blowoff. Raven as the top face? BLAH! Jeff Jarrett as the top heel? BLAH! They should push someone new as the top babyface. Someone like Sonny Siaki. I don't know if it would work, but he'd be someone new for people to get behind, and with Desire at his side, he'd get initial pops. Plus he has a good look and a good moveset. Let him get beat up and picked on for a few weeks before becoming the #1 Contender, then have him chase the title for awhile. Then, eventually, he can win the belt, and people should care....as long as he's not chasing Jeff Jarrett. Him chasing Raven would be better...especially if somewhere in the feud Raven pulled out his old bag of tricks and got Desire to leave Siaki. SYMPATHY HEAT~!

Guest Coffey Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 Well, at least a workrate based federation in North America...although Ring of Honor isn't doing terrible. They just hit a setback with all the RF drama.

Not every wrestler needs "THE LOOK" And as for Siaki, I completely agree that he would do a great job as a uppercard wrestler. He's actually the reason I think TNA needs a mid-card belt.
Guest MikeSC Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 So anyway, Mike, who do you think would be the best money match for TNA? Right now, there isn't one. Plain and simple. Just as the WWE doesn't have one, either. -=Mike
Guest whitemilesdavis Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 You are right Mike. If only there were enough of you who could make a workrate based fed profitable. 'Cause God knows they're making a load the way they do it now. And I agree with Siaki. He could be a big star.

The match that TNA can do right now that would get the most buys from their fanbase (internet) is an AJ vs. Daniels match advertised as either an iron man match or a 2 out of 3 falls match and let them go for an hour.

2GOLD Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 Sabu vs Jeff Hardy would draw the "over the top spots" fans since neither one of them can work a decent match that doesn't involve a ladder or table. Not a money match, but it seems like it would work for something. Raven vs Jarrett was a money match but TNA blew that one badly, but so did Raven from what I remember of the situation. Right now, I don't think they have any. Jeff Hardy should NEVER be considered for a "big money match" cause he's just not proven he is reliable as of yet. Maybe in a year or two if he hasn't decided to go back to his band and his "statues".

Guest The Ultimate Fantasy Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 Honestly I think the only way for TNAW to have a "money match" is for them to get a really famous free-agent main event guy and fued them with a wreastler that even the average mark could get behind, because even if TNA did build up someone like Daniels and pitted him against AJ Styles it would not be a money making fued becuase it would never gain mainstream populariy since the fanbase is so small an in the end that's why they need someone like Hogan. Jeff Hardy will not cut it because honestly he was known as a lower-to--upper-midcard player who lost alot and had bad matches and did nothing of intreast.
TheBigSwigg Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 Here's the problem, though: NO ONE BUT US KNOWS ABOUT TNA!!! You have know idea how many marks I've told about TNA that had no idea what it was. I explained that they had Hardy, Raven, D-Lo, and some high flying guys, and they thought it was interesting. But then I had to mention Jarrett, and they stopped listening. It's the truth.
Guest Coffey Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 Yeah, when I'm explaining TNAW to someone, I just lie. Me: "They have some big names that you'll probably remember...like Jeff Hardy." Them: "That's cool. Who's the champ?" Me: "I don't remember...."

You make some good points at times, Marty, but you also thought the Sting/Vampiro human torch match in WCW was five stars. And trust me. None of these matches are money matches...
Guest Coffey Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 Siaki/Killings could be, but it'd have to be built up. Killings would have to be the heel champion and Siaki would have to be the chasing face trying to overcome all odds. The rest though? Wow....

JFP vs. Chyna??? WHo would pay to see that? IF hyped well and done well, a lot of people in the entertainment industry as well as wrestling fans who don't follow the net and survivor viewers would be interested in Fairplay vs Chyna Doll. As for Sting vs Vampiro. I think it was an excellent feud. A lot of stuff done on the Nitros and Thunders. Sting soaked in blood and coming back the next week still in the same blood. I liked the human torch match when I saw it the first time. It wasn't Mcmahon vs Austin, but I'd take the feud over an iron man match between HHH and Benoit, that's for sure!!

We are talking about the feud with those horrible graveyard segments that ended with one of them getting tossed into an open grave or something right?

Exslade ZX Posted July 28, 2004 Report Posted July 28, 2004 And as for Siaki, I completely agree that he would do a great job as a uppercard wrestler. IMO...I actually don't think Siaki would be that great as an actual threat. I mean...I think, in TNA the guys boring. And I just can't picture him being...well a top guy. I'll give the guy credit, he was good as Money, in UWA I liked him for some reason...maybe I would buy him in that role again as a cocky heel, but his TNA cocky heel wasn't that great.. But as a top babyfacec, and maybe even top guy in general I don't think Icould buy it.
Magus Posted July 28, 2004 Report Posted July 28, 2004 Marty isn't a wrestling fan. he's just a fan of some writer who used to work for WWF a few years ago. yeah, i thought it was strange too.
