Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2005 "Phenomenal" Phil Lander has agreed to contribute to the retrospective. Most of you probably don't know who Phil is. He was on many of XPW's early shows. Unfortunately, he didn't last long with the company because he and Rob didn't really get along (which is the reason most guys left the company), but Phil was one of the best light heavyweight workers not just in XPW, but on the entire So-Cal indy circuit. He was as good, IF NOT BETTER than Kaos, but unfortunately not too many of his matches have been released so not very many people have gotten to see the greatness that is Phenomenal Phil. The guy was super innovative with a lot of moonsault variations that were really swank. Yea I remember Phil form IWF/UIWA shows(actually I think I sacanned a pic of him for you), he was pretty solid in the ring as I recall. BTW, I am in the process of moving back to NY, and took my posters down. I have 2 old XPW mini flyers I used to have hanging (From the "and then there were 4" and "Aftermath" shows, I can scan them for ya if you like, just PM me if you are interested)

LucharesuFan619 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2005 The Josh Lazie interview is going to be conducted within the next few days. If you have any questions for Josh, get them in BY TOMORROW MORNING at latest. As of this point, I have over 100 questions I will ask him. Josh has seen and done it all as far as XPW is considered. He's been to FMW and Stampede and Mexico. He's interacted with everyone from Bruce Hart to Onita to Abdullah the Butcher to Terry Funk. He has toured the world with the legendary rock band Danzig, playing in arenas packed by the thousands from Japan to Germany to beyond. He has managed the one and only Sabu and was perhaps Sabu's closet confidants for the better part of two years. He was right in the middle of the Messiah/Rob/Lizzy scandal. Also, for the first time, Lazie will tell his side of the story about the incident when he and Sabu got locked in jail together in Mexico on a passport issue. As I said once before, I didn't think ANYBODY would be able to beat the candor that Steve Rizzono gave me the many times I've talked to him, but I have a feeling Josh Lazie is going to take that spot back. Team Angle Pusher 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2005 I've only seen one XPW match in my entire life and I thought it was disgusting. But I appreciate what you are doing. I can see you are putting a lot of time in this project and I'm loving it. I always wanted to know more about XPW, you've given me loads of information. I just want to say thanks, keep doing what you are doing, I can't wait to see the final product.

LucharesuFan619 0 Report post Posted December 21, 2005 The Lazie interview went EXTREMELY well. He talked about E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G. I will have a much more detailed preview of it tomorrow. Tons of crazy stories. Right now I gotta write down everything before it leaves my head.

LucharesuFan619 0 Report post Posted December 21, 2005 Josh Lazie has seen and done it all in the entertainment industry. As the former-bassist for the rock band Danzig, he has headlined concerts in the biggest arenas thinkable, ranging from Japan to Germany to Mexico. After leaving the music industry, he - for the better part of two years - basically lived with Sabu. He was Sabu’s booking agent, his in-ring manager, his friend, his personal confidant, and his traveling buddy. At the same time, Lazie was Rob Black’s best friend and worst enemy. In mid-2001, Lazie had a falling out with his former-best friend Rob Black. The result was he, Sabu, and The Messiah all leaving XPW the same week. Since then, he has refused to comment on the specifics of the problems between himself and Rob Black…until now. On Tuesday, December 20, 2005, the one and only Josh Lazie made his impact on the “History of XPW: Bleeding Was Only HALF the Job” retrospective like only he can. Lazie made it clear going into the interview that there was no topic whatsoever that was off-limits in this interview. The result was not only some great stories about Steve Corino, UPW promoter Rick Bassman, Bruce Hart, and others, but also some very candid comments. For the first time ever, Lazie grants complete access to his personal life. He makes some very frank remarks about The Messiah and their real-life heat, and he gives the details of he and Kristi Myst’s relationship (How’d it start? How did Messiah play into it? What went wrong?), and he explains exactly where things went wrong between himself and Rob Black. Lazie also takes you behind closed doors and into the inner workings of XPW. Exactly what was discussed in he and Sabu’s private meetings with Bruce Hart, Atsushi Onita, and Shoichi Arai? How close did XPW come to running shows in Japan? What’s the TRUTH about drugs and sexual favors in the XPW locker room? And perhaps best of all, find out exactly what it was like hanging out with the one and only Sabu, 24/7 (What strip club did the two frequent most often?). This includes Lazie telling the story of how one night, he and Sabu found themselves locked together in a jail cell in Mexico. These are just some quick previews of what you can expect from Lazie’s part in this retrospective: “We had to turn a blind eye to it in order for…[read the retrospective and find out!].” - about drugs in the XPW locker room “I wouldn’t leave my wife alone with him.” - on The Messiah “If you had a drug or attitude problem or were a WWF, WCW, or ECW reject, then we wanted you here because you were tailor-made for XPW.” - paraphrased “If I had a nickel for every time Rob said ‘This is how Paul [Heyman] would do it,’ I would be rich.” “If you really want to strike up a conversation with him, ask him about barbecuing.” - about Abdullah the Butcher “Sabu wanted so badly for XPW to work.” “He’s the type of guy who - when he’s talking - you just sit there and devote every single last ounce of your attention and respect to and savor every word he says.” - about Sabu’s uncle, Ed “The Original Sheik” Farhat “Hayabusa and [Masato] Tanaka had every single intention of working for us.” “I don’t have anything positive to say about her, but I won’t shoot on her here out of respect for [her husband and former-XPW wrestler Johnny] Webb because I have so much respect for him.” - about Veronica Caine “It’s so sad the way she was treated there and the way she let herself be treated.” - on Kristi Myst “He’s the type of guy who - if you’re at a restaurant and you have no money - he’ll take the tab. He hates kayfabe being broken, especially around him, but he’s got such a big heart.” - on Sabu If you’ve never been in the heart of Los Angeles, California, the next best thing is to let Josh Lazie take you there in this no-holds-barred interview. From the wrestling to the business to the partying to the controversy, Lazie is an open book on his experiences in XPW. By contributing to this retrospective, Lazie joins Shane Douglas, Jerry Lynn, Shark Boy, Vic Grimes, Kevin Kleinrock, Chris Hamrick, Kris Kloss, Larry Rivera, all of the homegrowns (from Supreme to Pogo to Kaos to Jimmy to everyone else), and many more names to be announced. Also endorsed by former-WWE and WCW superstar Chris Kanyon, the “History of XPW: Bleeding Was Only HALF the Job” retrospective will show you XPW as you’ve NEVER seen it before. For more information, please e-mail [email protected]. Also, keep your eye out for news on the retrospective as a web site devoted to it will be launched in the coming weeks. Team Angle Pusher 0 Report post Posted December 28, 2005 Little dirty perverts But I have a dumb question, do we have to pay for this retrospective? Cause I really want to read this interview.
LucharesuFan619 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2005 I'm pretty sure everything will be free, so don't worry about paying. The interview isn't gonna be released in Q&A form; Josh's comments are going to be incorporated into the articles, just like is being done with Douglas, Lynn, Hamrick, and everyone else who's contributing. LucharesuFan619 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2006 Rob Black and Messiah in the same building just days ago? You heard it here first, ladies and gentlemen. It is unconfirmed but of VERY distinct likelihood that Rob Black, Lizzy Borden, and The Messiah were in the same building this past weekend - the Grand Ball Room at the Venetian Hotel in Chatsworth, CA. Messiah attended the AVN Awards Show in Las Vegas. Rob Black and Lizzy Borden - as a couple - received the Rueben Sturman award at the event. I have sent a message to Messiah asking him if they came at all close to crossing paths. The possibility of them being in the same building is VERY interesting considering their very serious real-life heat. Rob Black a Changed Man? In his acceptance speech, Black shocked everyone by apologizing to everyone he treated like crapin the past many years. In regards to his court case, he said he would never "cop a deal," he will never back down from the government, and he will continue to exercise his freedom of speech and make sure every other American is able to do the same thing. He vowed to fight the government, even if that meant carrying the heat of the government's crusade against porn on his shoulders.
LucharesuFan619 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2006 I talked to Messiah and he said that no, he didn't see either of them there. I'm thinking maybe Messiah just went to the AVN Expo (preceding the awards show), which I guess Rob and Lizzy weren't a part of.
LucharesuFan619 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2006 Update on Rob's case: Credit: AVN.com Sirkin Moves for Full Court Hearing in Extreme Case By: Mark Kernes PITTSBURGH - On Dec. 22, H. Louis Sirkin, attorney for Extreme Associates as well as its owners Rob Black and Lizzy Borden, filed a motion with the Third U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for an en banc hearing of the government's motion to reinstate the federal obscenity charges against the defendants. An en banc hearing, if Sirkin's motion is granted, would mean that most or all of the 14 Third Circuit appeals judges would rehear the arguments presented last October to a three-judge panel of that circuit. That panel found against Extreme, vacating Judge Gary Lancaster's pre-trial order and reinstating all of the government's original charges against the defendants. "Absent an en banc review, the panel's decision threatens to jeopardize the emerging right to privacy, particularly in matters affecting human sexuality, that has been recognized by the Supreme Court," Sirkin wrote in his motion. "Second," the motion continues, "the panel improperly applied the Supreme Court's decision in Agostini v. Felton... to a line of antiquated and factually irrelevant cases, resulting in a ruling that altogether fails to consider the merits of Extreme's argument. More specifically, the panel applied decisions rejecting a First Amendment right to purchase or transport obscenity in inherently public channels of commerce to Extreme's Fifth Amendment substantive due process claim. In addition, the panel also failed to recognize the significance of the fact that the purchases here occurred over the Internet, a new medium of communication not envisioned or discussed in the Supreme Court's prior case law. The review of the full Court is therefore necessary to ensure that the significant constitutional questions presented in this appeal are properly addressed and answered without being summarily dismissed at the hand of inapplicable precedent." Look for a more in-depth analysis of this motion this week on AVN.com.

LucharesuFan619 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2006 I'm trying to get back in contact with Webb both to do a followup interview and to get an interview with her. Once I do get back in contact with him, it'll probably be easy to get an interview with her. I would've asked for her when I was in contact with him but I found out they were together a few months after the interview.
LucharesuFan619 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2006 Extreme Case headed to Supreme Court Credit: AVN.com PITTSBURGH, Pa. - In an order dated Jan. 9, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit formally denied attorney H. Louis Sirkin's petition for an "en banc" reconsideration of the reinstatement of charges against Extreme Associates, Rob Black and Lizzie Borden. The petition came about as a result of a Dec. 8, 2005 ruling by a three-judge panel of the Third Circuit, all appointees of conservative presidents, which overturned the well-reasoned ruling by District Court judge Gary Lancaster throwing out indictments against the defendants for interstate trafficking in obscenity. Notably, however, the panel did not deal with the substance of Judge Lancaster's ruling, but with what it considered to be a procedural defect, in that Judge Lancaster's ruling seemingly contradicted established precedent. Sirkin's en banc petition, however, argued that the panel had misapprehended the defense arguments, which drew on substantive due process rights inherent in the U.S. Constitution's Fifth Amendment rather than the First Amendment – arguments which had not been made in previous Supreme Court obscenity precedent cases. Nonetheless, Sirkin's en banc petition was rejected. "The petition for rehearing filed by appellant [Extreme] in the above-entitled case having been submitted to the judges who participated in the decision of this Court and to all the other available circuit judges of the circuit in regular active service," wrote Judge D. Brooks Smith, the presiding judge of the original three-judge panel, "and no judge who concurred in the decision having asked for rehearing, and a majority of the circuit judges of the circuit in regular service not having voted for rehearing, the petition for rehearing by the panel and the Court en banc, is denied." Although not available for comment at press time, Sirkin has previously indicated that if his en banc petition failed, that he would seek to have the panel's ruling reconsidered by filing a petition for certiorari with the U.S. Supreme Court. That court is not required to grant such petition, however, and if it fails to do so, then the case would proceed to trial, probably sometime this summer.
