LTP FEEDBACK!

Recommended Posts

SJ I hate to heap another thing on your plate, but Rick's promo was supposed to go AFTER Rick/Gunner like I said in the PM.

EDIT: I know things are still a little shaky, but for the time being let's start giving feedback on the matches themselves or we'll never get around to it.

Oh I see what happened. You originally had Rick/Gunner in the spot before it and then moved it. I hadn't read on the first page of this thread yet that the two Gunner matches had been out of order before I saw the segment where it was.

Great PPV, tonight. But so much feedback.....ah well, let's get started anyway. This should be fun! :)

TUXEDO MATCH: Jivin Jim Ross vs. Jim Cornette - Very fun match, and a really entertaining way to start off what would prove to be a VIOLENT Pay-Per-View. The Incredible Jivin JR - complete with green paint - was just GOLD. I also loved that the camera had to quickly cut away from the post-match celebration when JR got so caught up in the celebration that he started licking himself. Nice.

The Parka vs. JAE - Excellent match. The back-and-forth nature of the contest was just so well done, and the action got so unpredictable at points that I really wasn't sure who would win. The spot with Coach getting hit in the head with a television monitor was hilarious, and added a good sense of humor to a match that was all INTENSITY~! otherwise. The fact that Parka fought back harder against JAE's taunts did a good job putting him over as a hard-fighting face. The ending was also well done, with Rick saving Parka from what could have been a terrible post-match beatdown. The storylines between all of LPYC's characters continue to intertwine and grow more interesting by the week.

PARENTAL INDISCRETION II: Rick Edwards vs. SB87 vs. Nate vs. Mikey - Holy shit, this was just an awesome match. Seriously. The action came full force throughout the entire contest with very few breaks! All of the high-impact moves and crazy risks really put over the dangerous nature of the match, and did a tremendous job in setting the stage for the rest of the "Emperor of Death" tournament. The ending with the Doomsday Kick off the platform - followed by the high moonsault - was beyond sick! I also really liked SB87 throwing a fit afterwards, even against the wishes of his teammates. He's definitely becoming destined for great things. It was good to see Rick finally get back to the ring, and show he hasn't lost a step at all!

TWO-OUT-OF-THREE LIGHTTUBE LOG CABIN MATCH: Drek Stone vs. Johnny Jackson - My god, Drek Stone got screwed! Besides the part where I started choking because of my complete and utter outrate at the Mad Cappa's antics, I thought the match was handled VERY nicely. It wasn't as bloody as many of the other EoD First Round matches turned to be, which did a fine job of setting it apart by itself. It had a lot of nice action - there definitely seemed to be a genuine struggle between Jackson and Drek whenever it came time to throw one through a log cabin - and the ending did a great job of putting over both the Drek/Cappa feud AND Johnny Jackson as a possible singles wrestler.

BARBED WIRE BOARD MATCH: Hoff vs. Scotty Static - I really loved the story this match carried, with Hoff afraid to even get near the barbed wire at the beginning. The dickish-heel antics of using side headlocks in what should be a BLOODY hardcore match are genius. Then, at some point, Hoff just seemed to snap, and become bone-chillingly comfortable at using the barbed wire to his advantage. The action near the end, with Hoff absolutely dominating Scotty, was a little disturbing, which was just perfect in the context of this tournament. But, for as good as Hoff was, it was good to see Scotty sonewhat prove himself in that ring as well. He managed to really bring it to Hoff and, in the end, looks to be a better singles wrestler because of it!

FANS BRING THE WEAPONS: Gunner Sharps vs. Vitamin X - Solid match! I was definitely impressed with Gunner's overwhelming intensity against Vitamin X AND Stephen Popick, and I eagerly await the time when he's finally able to get his hands on Hoff. The match concept was very creative, with some really good spots - the rubber chicken with marbles, the fork stabbing - and, of course, the MOTHER FUCKING IMPACT SPEAR TO HELL THROUGH A GLASS WALL ARGH!!!!!! Once again, another EoD match was able to deliver on its promise of blood and violence! Really good!

UM......UH.....CHRISTMAS LIGHTS MATCH: Calvin Szechstein vs. Leon Rodez - Very well done for the rushed time frame that Chuck had to send it in. Calvin really looked like a huge force to be reckoned with in the rest of the EoD tournament, and the ending did a good job in protecting the characters of both men. Rodez, being the quicker of the two, was getting the advantage and looking to end it quickly, but Calvin - being the veteran that HE is - was able to use his ring expertise to escape it just in time. Again, this actually turned out to be a good match.....despite the fact that I'm still not sure what the stipulation was. :)

FOUR-CORNERS LIGHTTUBE MATCH: Sly Sommers vs. The Cuban Wall - GREAT match! I loved how they tried to start the match out in a technical way, but completely degenerated into trying to hurt the other guy as much as possible. Some of the spots - like the powerslam onto the chairs, the forceful swings of the lighttubes, drop toe hold THROUGH the lightbulb - were just beautifully sick. The momentum shifts of the match were really well done, and it was nice to see just how much both Sly and Cuban wanted to advance into the next round. The SlyleDriver through the lighttube title was the best way to end a match that had already had so much destruction! The ending with Sly speaking into the camera with taunts for Calvin just put the icing on the cake.

Jay Darring vs. Chris Stevens - OMG MATCH OF THE YEAR!!!

Global Party XChange vs. Hell's Hitmen - Really liked the prematch sneak attack from Black T towards GPX. It showed a nice bit of continuity from the match on HeldDown, and really set the stage nicely for a serious feud between the two teams. GPX managing to even kick out after the chairshots really put them over nicely as inspirational underdogs but, naturally, Jingus and The Sadist were just too strong for GPX to overcome. This match focused on the strengths of every team involved - Hell's Hitmen as the sadistic heels, GPX as the hard-fighting faces, and Black T as the arrogant champs - and did a tremendous job of continuing the impressive development of the Tag Team Division.

Panther vs. The Hand – I really don’t know how many times I’ve said it by now, so I’ll just repeat myself once again. Papacita’s work is amazing. Ever since I’ve joined the OAOAST, I’ve really been feeling the Papa/Bryte/Tina/Hand storyline, and tonight was no exception. The promo at the beginning with Panther/Joanie actually felt emotionally heart-felt, and the match itself was just awesome. There was some real tension between Panther and The Hand, and this was conveyed every time they struggled for a weapon or tried to choke each other with that steel chain. The ending with Tina and Panther finally reuniting was such a nice moment on such a bloody PPV. I can’t wait to finally see the HUGE Panther/Chris Bryte match. What a way to build up a match!

Johnny Jackson vs. Jay Darring – WAZ ALL KINDS OF AWESOME~! WOW~!

100,000 THUMBTACKS MATCH: Gunner Sharps vs. Johnny Jackson – Very good match. Like the others, it continued to portray the absolute carnage of the EoD tournament. I liked how Jackson came into the match on-fire, hoping to end it as quickly as possible. We even saw a hardcore side of him that we don’t usually see. It was nice to see that he wasn’t afraid to use the thumbtacks. But Gunner, keeping his intensity full-throttle, pounded back, and it wasn’t long before we got yet another sick finish with the “All Guns Blazing” straight into the thumbtacks! I really think Jackson’s reputation was improved with his efforts in the DeathMatch tournament, and Gunner wound up looking as strong, if not stronger, than ever.

FANS BRING THE WEAPONS: Sly Sommers vs. Calvin Szechstein – Ah, we finally get the match that everyone has been waiting for. I loved it. Really intense, and perfectly mirroed the hatred these two guys had grown for each other over the past few months. And the weapon ideas some of these fans had….wiffleball bat with thumbtacks?! Awesome. And the fight around the arena was just crazy! The salt in the wound and the boiling-hot water from Sly were particularly brutal, and really painted Sly in an angry light of someone that would do ANYTHING to win! I really dug the insanely violent ending with the broken glass/thumbtack jawbreaker. That actually made me cringe from reading it! Both Sly Sommers and Calvin Szechstein looked like monsters in this match, and I really can’t wait until they fight again!

FOUR CORNERS OF PAIN: Gunner Sharps vs. Rick Edwards – Fine, fine contest. Very creative concept, and the execution was handled especially well. Some of the bumps were just so horrific, which continued to establish this tournament as one of the most bloodiest things the OAOAST has ever seen! Gunner and Rick absolutely refused to hold anything back and, truth be told, Rick looked like a star. Despite the Cain interference, despite the fact that he could barely stand…..he kept fighting. Kicking out of a lighttube table crash – just crazy! The fact that even Gunner, through all his overwhelming intensity, was starting to worry for the well-being of Rick was a nice touch.

OAOAST TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: Black T vs. The New New Midnight Express – Great tag team action, and an actual welcome change from the brutality that we’ve gone through with the rest of the night. This Tag Match definitely had some nice technical action, with the perfect amount of tension right at the end. The back-and-forth nature of the title match was just terrific and, once again, Black T proves their utter dominance in the Tag Division.

SOME…..UH…..KIND OF CAGE MATCH! EMPEROR OF DEATH FINALS: Hoff vs. Axel – I understand that the match wasn’t near done, but what was here was REALLY good. The beginning with Hoff holding the gun was just crazy, and that kind of tense action really kept up throughout the entire contest. The hostility between Hoff and Axel was really expressed well. You really got a sense that these guys wanted to injure each other – hell, they wouldn’t have minded if they killed each other – which is a true testament to how well the feud had been built up. The ending with the Superfly Splash off the cage was AWESOME, and completely put over Hoff’s victory over the fear he had in the beginning of the night. I know the match was incomplete but, again, what was here was very solid.

OAOAST HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: Zack Malibu vs. Crystal – Oh man, the ending of this thing just shocked me. I was sure Crystal was finally going to win the title here, and was in complete shock when Zack actually managed to hold onto the title by the skin of his teeth. Still, the fact that Crystal had come SO close to the title – and had fought SO hard throughout the match – continues to put anticipation at a fever-pitch for the day she’ll finally be able to defeat Zack for the championship. Very well done Main Event. The action was fast, and like in the Tag Match, I really welcomed the technical aspect of the match that was a fresh change from the brutality of the rest of the night. Like the Crystal/Zack match at School’s Out, this match was yet another mat classic. The near falls, the reversals – everything worked so well together! Amazing job!

NOTES: As always, I need to give Papacita huge props on the graphics. Lots of Steven Joseph tonight. As controversial as his segments were, they were still very well done. I’m hesitantly interested to see where he’s going with this new INTEN5E stable. And, even though I could still see his turn on Bill Watts and formation with the masked men from a mile away, I was completely shocked with the identities of these guys. Nice surprise. And the promos – from Rick/Parka to Caboose/Spider-Man – were very entertaining, and did such a good job of setting up future angles.

Amazing PPV tonight, guys! Even if the order was….not so great.

You know the drill by now. Any comments on the Drek Stone/Mad Cappa Hell-in-the-Cell match tonight would be GREATLY, GREATLY appreciated! I really want to know what everyone thought of it! And….just to throw this out there…..Drek is currently lacking an opponent for AngleSlam. If anybody is interested in feuding with Drek for the month of August, please feel free to PM me.

Probably my bad for sending the Axel/Hoff entrances to Tom, because he was the one who told me to write it, and I thought considering he was in charge and the brains behind the Tournament he would edit the entrances in and flow them together. My bad, I should have sent it to Steven (which I am doing now).

With that said, having skimmed through both nights, I really was dissapointed by some of the stuff that happened, like how stuff was missing and in the wrong places, not to mention a storyline that made no sense. Bottom line: There's a lesson here. If you don't have completed stuff, then JUST DON'T POST IT. If its not completed, you can't possibly justify posting a part of a big match. Hold it off, and wait until you have the completed match, THEN edit it in. That way nothing is spoiled (like Axels return, which I had planned for seven months), and it doesn't look tacky. Common sense people.

Hoff, thank you for making those comments, and I feel sorry for you as well, as you and I had put a great deal of thought into this storyline. Lost in this, I feel, is the great Main Event that we were treated to, as well as the awesome Panther/Hand and Drek/Cappa matches. Good by you guys, well done. Also props to Tom. The EoD Tournament was his baby, and like so many other times in this fed's history, he did the majority of the work and co-ordinated it. So MAD props to Tom for always, ALWAYS trying to do the right thing by everybody and being fair to all parties involved. So props to you man.

::salutes Adam::

Thanks. I really do appreciate that, but I think you're being a little too nice with your props to me there, as I did act like a bit of a jerkwad to some people while impatiently waiting for them to write their stuff, since as many of you know, I basically took this tournament on as a project of my own. To those I was rather crabby to, I sincerely apologize (and you know who you are).

And not to drag his name around again, but I did talk to Jay earlier, and he was really looking forward to this show. But, right around the time he was starting to write, he was being called in for twelve-hour work shifts, and plus he had those everyday matters in his personal life that everyone has to attend to, and simply didn't have enough time in the day to write his stuff. So, Jay tried, but he understandably put this as a low priority, and that's quite respectable.

Adam was right, in that this tournament, like the Super X Cup, was my baby. I'm a major supporter of tournaments, being the uber-indy mark that I am. I thought it'd be kind of cool to pull off an "IWA", so to speak, and have the tournament stretch over two nights, much like IWA Mid-South's King of the Deathmatches used to (the KOTDM has since been retired as a tournament). However, I got to get it through my thick skull that we can't do everything here like it's done in the indies. So, since I took it on as my project, I should apologize for suggesting the two-night tournament idea, since it was obviously much better in concept than in execution. That being said, I thought we had some really good stuff at this show, which I'll go into in a second.

Speaking of the Super X Cup though, I was going to suggest making the second one a sixteen-man field, much like the Ted Petty Invitational used to be. But, seeing as if we did have a lot of communication problems and other stuff around our first sixteen-man tournament, I think I might ask to get it moved to 12 or something low. I was also wanting to move it to December, since the February PPV should be concentrated on just flat out putting over Anglemania over balls to the walls.

I also had another tournament concept I was wanting to do, that being an all-women's tournament. But, seeing as if we don't have nearly as many female characters as we do guys, and that one of the top characters in the main division is female, I don't think that'd really work.

But, moving on...earlier in the post, I mentioned wanting to put some stuff over. I thought Drek/Cappa was badass, and NYU, every comment about Drek Stone being OAOAST Rookie of the Year that I made in the Drek/Sly match is something I believe, that you've come in and immediately became one to watch. Thanks for the quality stuff, man.

Adam also wrote some good stuff with Gunner/Rick and Gunner/X, at a point where he obviously was squeezed for time with exams and such. Thanks for being able to set aside time from getting a college degree to write matches for an e-fed.

I'm also going to put over Tony for helping institute what's becoming an excellent tag team division, as the final two tag matches on Night One were great. I'm always up for a good fresh-faced face tag team chasing after evil villains and their gold, and the GPX/Black T feud is just great for that.

Thanks to everyone to put over Sly/Calvin, as that was the one match I probably put the most effort in, considering it's my feud at this point. Daredevil's Delight was a lot of fun to write, as I was able to forget about working body parts, being technically proficient, or making sure a bunch of hatred got across, as it was basically a bunch of cool moves, and as we all know, wrestling's all about cool moves...

Thumbs up to you all, and as for those problems...this is the OAOAST; let's make a joke out of it!

Actually I wrote Gunner/Rick, but that's beside the point.

Everyone did a great job in writing so many matches and I'm sure when everything gets organized like it needs to be it will be one of our best PPV's.

Yeah yeah yeah. It's coming, hold your horses. Tonight or tomorrow or Wednesday (tonight's not too likely).

Here goes my feedback. I've read through Night 1 so let me do that and then I'll come back and do Night 2 later.

Jivin JR/Cornette: Hilarious. The stuff with JR and his "bitches" plus him painting himself green and hulking up was great.

The SJ/Watts segment was pretty cool. Although SJ asking for power seems a little fishy.

Parental Indiscretion 2: I've already discussed my feelings with PFL on this. I'm not a big fan of insane spot fests, but the last 10 minutes, so to speak, were great with all the weapons and the final bump through the tables. My only other complaint is the moves given to Rick. I don't mind the high flying ones because he went off to learn some storyline wise, but a lot of the moves given to him weren't high flying ones...they were just random moves given to him.

Drek/Jackson: Great job with the back and forth action. Jackson came off as if he had a real chance and that was good. Drek's mean streak is incredible and this was a great foretaste of HiaC. Jackson with the upset was a nice touch.

Hoff/Static: Ouch...the weapon spots in this match were brutal! I felt sorry for poor Scotty at the end. The storyline with Hoff being afraid and then Eddy telling him to take control of the situation lead to this awesome match quite well.

Gunner/Vitamin X: I marked out for the use of the Fork~! Gunner had to overcome a lot through this tourney. SJ, Hoff, and fighting a fresher man in the Semifinals. Gunner really became the star of this tourney. Only thing about this match is for some reason at the end it said Gunner would be facing the winner of Drek/Jackson in the next round. However, 1) The second round is supposed to be random draw and 2) Drek/Jackson already happened before this match.

Calvin/Rodez: I'm not sure I understood the gimmick. It seems to me that Christmas lights wouldn't break when being whipped into the ropes. The corner maybe, but the ropes would have too much give for it to break the lights, all the impact would be softened by the give of the ropes and it probably wouldn't crush the lights. A few might break, but it wouldn't seem like that bad of a blow. Other than that the ending was quite brutal. I know why the match had to be short so that's not a problem. The ending would have been quite a sight to see. Poor Rodez.

Sly/Cuban Wall: Wow this was violent and that's a good thing. Some of the spots using the light tubes were very original and quite cringe inducing.

I wish we could see the Jay match finally. It's his return and yet it's nothing more than a technical difficulty right now.

SJ has the men locked up backstage...why doesn't he pull their masks off now? Makes you wonder...what is going to happen?

Hitmen/GPX: Poor GPX were already brutalized from their tourney matches and yet put up a small fight. GPX really made a showing for themselves on this PPV. Good match even though it was short, but it made sense to be short.

I'll do Day 2 later. I hope I didn't step on any toes. I'm just trying to be totally honest with my feedback.

EDIT: In case you're wondering I wrote about the SJ segments as if I as a reviewer didn't know the ending yet...it's not that I totally forgot how it turned out.

Day 2 Feedback.

I wanna start by apologizing to PFL. I said some things that shouldn't have been said to others and I'm sorry. The match was awesome no matter what my tastes are and everything worked out. So I'm sorry that I made those comments about something I should have just gotten over.

--------------

Panther/Hand: My God this was good. The psychology of Panther working The Hand's...Hand was great. The ending with the crowbar to the eye was so violent and so fitting.

Jay/Jackson: Another missing match that I'd like to see. Was this supposed to be Jay/Hoff? Hoff doesn't seem to have a 2nd round match and Jackson has another one.

Gunner/Jackson: Two Jackson matches in a row? This one is labeled as a second round match so I'm confused. The match itself was great. I'm glad to see that not only the tacks, but the shallow box were used as weapons and the All Guns Blazing into the tacks was great.

Sly/Calvin: Wow what a match. The violence and hatred just oozed from this one and the end with the shards in the mouth...just crazy! It lived up to the hype and more.

Calvin and Hoff making an agreement to forego their match was a nice touch.

Black T/NNMX: A great technical match amonst brutal violence. Plus the JR and Cornette stuff made this so much more. The tag division is thriving right now.

Drek/Cappa: This started full blast and went balls to the wall and was a very good end to their feud. The Inten5e stuff may have been placed badly before it, but it didn't take away from the match itself and I'm interested to see where Cappa goes from here as part of Inten5e.

Hoff/Axel: With the intro in place this match is quite a mark out moment. The ending was brutal and Hoff made a name for himself this night.

Zack/Crystal: I was so close to being right with my prediction of Crystal winning it. This is how you keep a great feud going. These two will continue to tear the house down.

The Inten5e segments were very good and even though I knew the concept I had forgotten who would be under the masks, so it was a nice surprise.

Even though we had problems with the PPV it was still incredible and a great effort by everyone.
