Damaramu Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=1849109 There is your Coaches Preseason Top 25 rankings for next season. I seem to remember Mr. Maisel saying that my Sooners would be ranked behind USC, LSU, and Georgia.......ha!
Damaramu Posted August 2, 2004 Author Report Posted August 2, 2004 What? No thoughts on the top 25? You know what this means? Football season is upon us!
Damaramu Posted August 2, 2004 Author Report Posted August 2, 2004 Damn I didn't even look at the rest. I just saw my moral victory over Maisel and moved on.......hehe.
Vern Gagne Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=1849109 There is your Coaches Preseason Top 25 rankings for next season. I seem to remember Mr. Maisel saying that my Sooners would be ranked behind USC, LSU, and Georgia.......ha! The first polls should not be released until the first Monday in October. Give every team 3-4 games. Than rank them.

Damaramu Posted August 2, 2004 Author Report Posted August 2, 2004 Oh and I wonder where everyone will be ranked in the AP Poll? It's usually different than the Coaches Poll.
teke184 Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 As ticked as I am at the perceived slight to LSU, it's still a better position than they opened last year in AND they don't have the bullseye on them that USC has.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 The first polls should not be released until the first Monday in October. Give every team 3-4 games. Than rank them. This is the preseason poll........ That's his point, and a very valid one. It's meaningless. With the new BCS slated to count each poll as 1/3 of its vote, just wait until shit gets ironed out, let the first month of the season go by, and decide who sits where then. The first three weeks of the season are teams jumping and dropping 10 and 12 ranks at a time because they lose one game or win one surprise game, and so on.

I bet you though those teams sitting in the Top 3 right now......are still undefeated and blowing opponents out by the time the first poll comes out. LSU's competition doesn't really come until they enter Georgia. USC and OU have little to no competition on there schedules........so yeah......I still think it'll be an undefeated national title game between USC and OU.
Art Sandusky Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 Tennessee should be about 17-20 in my opinion.
Bored Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 For Kotz, Tennessee unveils their throwback jerseys (60's to 70's era) they'll wear for the opener against UNLV.
Damaramu Posted August 3, 2004 Author Report Posted August 3, 2004 Wait......that list says the final record for Texas was 10-3.......who else did they lose to? OU and Washington right?
Art Sandusky Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 For Kotz, Tennessee unveils their throwback jerseys (60's to 70's era) they'll wear for the opener against UNLV. I saw that on utsports.com, can't wait to see 'em in action.
Damaramu Posted August 3, 2004 Author Report Posted August 3, 2004 Man Kotz your Tennessee pimping has made me interested to watch them this season. It's funny. Aside from OU and OSU I don't like any Big XII teams. But I like just about every SEC team.
RepoMan Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 Those throwbacks look like a pretty modern design, I wouldn't be suprised if they become the standard away uniforms. Look good, nothing specail though.
teke184 Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 Wait......that list says the final record for Texas was 10-3.......who else did they lose to? OU and Washington right? Arkansas blistered the Longhorns midway through the season, winning by about 20+ points.

And in a move Teke may like......my uncle brought me an LSU poster after he visited NO. Instead of burning it I just hung it up on my room where it hangs to this day next to my Sooner stuff. Hey.....I gotta respect a team that can do that to my team.

Rabid fanbase guaranteed, tradition by the boatloads, good colors, you name it. The SEC is just too damned hard to dislike because it's such a great conference in terms of competition and following, and you know that whoever the SEC champ is has EARNED that motherfucker. Except Florida. Fuck Florida.

With the Big XII in the past 5 years it seems to be "Oklahoma and then everyone else!" and in the old days it was "Oklahoma and Nebraska then everyone else!"
AboveAverage484 Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 Alabama's gonna take it to Tennessee this year, baby!
Art Sandusky Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 Bring it. We're a little weak this year, but the Third Saturday in October will be an orange crush.
therealworldschampion Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 Tennessee/Alabama would be a lot more interesting this year if the game was in Tuscaloosa, with all the stuff that's going on with Fulmer and Alabama.
Art Sandusky Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 Oh it'll still be interesting. Remember, there will be an Alabama section of fans.
