Guest Real F'n Show Report post Posted August 2, 2004 THIS just popped up on my computer: PARASITE ALERT - A Parasite Has Been Found On Your Computer Virtual Bouncer has found a parasite on your computer. This parasite is monitoring the URLs that you visit when you surf the web and also pops ads up at you. Common symptoms of this parasite are a slow computer, lots of pop-up ads and frequent crashing of browsers and programs. Would you like Virtual Bouncer to help you remove this parasite from your computer? I clicked 'Yes' and this thing comes up that says I must register my copy of Virtual Bouncer to remove the parasite. To register it costs fucking $29.95! WTF is Virtual Bouncer and how do I get rid of this parasite? Please help.

the max 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2004 I've had that one before. Virtual Bouncer is in fact spyware. MrRant, I have a trojan removal question. I have one that keeps popping up no matter how many AVG and other virus scans I make, or Trojan Removal (I've downloaded everything in the thread, btw). Is there anything I can do? Guest Real F'n Show Report post Posted August 2, 2004 I already have Ad-aware on my computer and I just got done scanning my computer with it, but the Virtual Bouncer thing keeps coming up. Do you still think it's Spyware?

Guest Real F'n Show Report post Posted August 4, 2004 Guys, I think I actually HAVE a parasite, not just spyware... All the symptoms of a parasite (slow computer, pop-ups, crashing, programs not responding) are all happening on my computer. any (free) way to get rid of it? Ad-aware doesn't seem to be doing it's job. Thanks a lot.
Guest Real F'n Show Report post Posted August 5, 2004 anyone?
Secret Agent 0 Report post Posted August 5, 2004 So you mean you think you have a virus? Do you have Norton or some type of anti-virus software? If not at least useTrend Micro's Housecall, it's free. What you describe sounds like adware or spyware though--Popups, slowing down IE, crashing the O/S. I have found that, anymore, no one program will take care of spyware, you need a combination. Today at work I used about 8 spyware programs to fix a machine, if that tells you how bad it's getting. So, like I said before, get these programs. I call this, how to efectively combat Spyware on your computer. (For now, until they come out with better stuff.) 1.Spybot(run twice) 2.Ad-Aware 6 3.CW Shredder 4.Hijack This!(only if you know how to use it) 5.Speacilty fixes like About Buster, Virtural Bouncer Uninstall, Kazaa Be Gone(though I'd run all of these just in case.) 6.Spy Sweeper Make sure you have the lastet referance files, and software updates to all of these programs. Delete all cookies, temporary internet files, and check out your "My Favorites" folder. If you have a bunch of items that were all modified on the same day, chances are they are infected and it'd be a good idea to delete them. Then, run your computer in safe mode, and run those programs I listed in that order. If you have anything else left on your machine afterwards then you most likely need a program designed to take care of one problem, like Virtual Bouncer Uninstaller. Tool bars like Yahoo's are spyware ridden, get rid of that too. Google's is fine. Finally, stay off the porn, I rarely ever get Spyware on my computer. Guest I'm That Damn Zzzzz Report post Posted August 5, 2004 Also get Pest Patrol. Run the test at www.pestscan.com and get the program off of your favorite file sharing program. Or buy it.
Guest Real F'n Show Report post Posted August 5, 2004 I paid 50 bucks for a Norton's Anti-Virus program at Best Buy, and it's worked fine with virus' up until a few days ago. Is there a difference between a virus and a parasite? Everything seems to be working fine now except Internet Explorer, which keeps taking forever to load when I click on the icon, and when it finally comes up, something pops-up saying the program is not responding. So I click "End Now" and it asks if I want to send an error report or something, so I click "send". Then about 5 minutes later Internet Explorer pops up and works fine. Spyware ruined the Internet!!!
