Hey, first time that I'm posting here, just noticed this section of the forums was here.

I'm having a little problem with my computer. Recently, I have been unable to access Hotmail, MSN Messanger, AIM (which I was trying to register for), PayPal (same) and some other sites.

I believe it's because I have a problem with something called Active X, but every time I've tried to fix it with the suggestions given, nothing new happens.

If anyone here has any idea to help, please post.

Thanks in advance.

What is the error message?

Whenever I try to log onto a page like Hotmail or AIM or something like that, I get a "Page Not Found" page.

However, when I try it on another computer, I CAN get into those pages.

In Internet Options, set the security and privacy to medium and on the Advanced Tab at the top, hit Restore Defaults.

If that doesn't work then turn off any firewall programs, pop up stoppers and AntiVirus one at a time and see if that works.

Attempted both...neither worked.

Should I call Dell tech support, or do you have something else in mind?

They'll just tell you to restore your system. However, there is something else you can call.

Always wanted to do this Subject has been already been talked about.

Without telling us where the hijack is redirecting you to it is hard to really tell, as Mr. Rant already stated.

However, you could always give about:blank buster a whirl. Another tool to try is CW Shredder, if none of those two work it is still a good idea to have it incase.

I always reccomend: Spybot, Ad-Aware 6, CW Shredder, Hijack This!, and Spy Sweeper for these kinds of things, and running them in that order. Also, are you running these spyware/adware sweeps in safe mode? If not, then you need to be. Also try deleting your "My Favorites" list as that could be infected as well.

Oh, Kazaabegone is another good one if you have ever had Kazaa on your machine. We all know that program likes to keep some of it's files on your machine even after uninstall.

Hope some of this gives you ideas to try for now.

Secret Agent suggested this in the Hijacked thread and it works! About:Blank Buster

Anyway here is what i did:

Run command prompt and re-register the following dll's by typing:

regsvr32 softpub.dll

regsvr32 wintrust.dll

regsvr32 initpki.dll

regsvr32 dssenh.dll

regsvr32 rsaenh.dll

regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll

regsvr32 sccbase.dll

regsvr32 slbcsp.dll

regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll

Then reboot

Hope it works for you as well.
