Papacita 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2004 Ok, first... http://www.angelfire.com/wrestling/panthersway/angleslam.gif That's the link to the logo I've started on for Angleslam. Copy and paste the address to see it, since Angelfire doesn't allow direct linking and Photobucket is just being a big stupidhead right about now...yeah, that's right! I said the "S" word! Don't make me repeat it! Anyway, I was wondering what you guys think about it, is their anything you think I should add to it, etc. I was thinking of actually typing out the word "ANGLESLAM" underneath the phone thing just so that it's a little more clear, but I dunno. Also, for graphics, Tony brought up the idea of using logos instead of pics for the PPV match graphics (kinda like how they used to do for Saturday Night's Main Event). I kinda prefer the normal format myself, but logos would make it easier for those of you who can't figure out what pic you want to represent your character. So which method would you all prefer? LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2004 I love having pics to represent our characters since I'm a visual person and I always come up with a photoshopped pic for all my characters. If you were suggesting not doing that anymore it would make me sad. I'll go on record right now and say that if anyone has an idea of what they want their character pic to look like, but isn't good with photoshop. Send me a pic and what you want done and I'll help make a personalized look for your character because I think it's a cool idea. EDIT: Oh and the graphic itself is awesome. It's the premise that's iffy. I was never a big fan of the whole "Dial AS for AngleSlam" thing...too weird of a PPV name for my tastes. What's with the odd names this year? Patty O'Green 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2004 (edited) I like the idea of using pics to represent our characters also! If you stopped doing that it not only would it make me a very sad color kid but it would also make me very angry and very violent. EDIT: What PPVs have had odd names this year? Seriously I can't remember any of the names. Edited August 3, 2004 by Patty O'Green
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2004 The Year of Living Angleously (I know there's a movie called The Year of Living Dangerously, but it doesn't quite fit as a PPV name...since the PPV isn't a year long, or beginning out the year, it also sounds odd.) Then we had License to Pin: This Aint Oz (Didn't quite roll off the tongue) Now we have Dial AS for AngleSlam. EDIT: By the way does anyone have a full calendar of PPV names for the rest of the year? Stephen Joseph 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2004 Tony does...It is posted in GCF somewhere... I like the pictures representing the wrestlers, it really does add something
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2004 Well that won't help me any...I can't see GCF.
Patty O'Green 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2004 I think that was Popick's way of saying be patient while a mod finds the thread for you. 2004 OAOAST PAY-PER-VIEW EVENTS * The Year of Living Angleously April 25 School's Out: Class Dismissed May 30 The Great Angle Bash June 27 License to Pin...Renewed July 25 Dial AS for AngleSlam August 29 TBA September 26 World Without End October 31 TBA November 28 Bloody, Battered & Beaten December 19 * Events subject to change
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2004 Oh...sorry. Hmmm....are Sep. and Nov. still TBA? Maybe some of us can come up with a name for those. EDIT: Sorry...right now I'm having trouble finding a way to post the animated version of the AS logo on the site. A still version is on there now if you wanna check it out. Does anyone know how to overlap pictures in Microsoft Frontpage?
Patty O'Green 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2004 To be honest I don't know if they're still TBA. That post with all the PPV dates was from mid March. You're weclome to try and come up with new names I suppose.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2004 Last year the Sep. PPV was called Dirty Deeds and Nov. was Deadly Game, but we can probably come up with something else. We could all come up with some ideas and then start a poll.
Tony149 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2004 (edited) It was done to give the shows something different than some generic AS 3 or LTP 2, etc. July's PPV was original called LTP...Renewed, but when Patty came up with the prison gimmick it changed to "This Ain't Oz" (inspired by ECW's "This Ain't Seinfield") but when Popick made the PPV thread he used LTP and others started calling it LTP: TAO. That said, the "Dial AS for..." tagline was supposed to be just that, a tagline -- but when Papacita showed me the AS logo I thought it was damn clever so I told him to go with it. My fault for not letting him know about that. When the 2004 PPV calendar was created I had completely forgotten Sept.'s PPV name, which was called "Dirty Deeds," as Parka noted. "There's Always Darkness Before Dawn" was the front-runner for the November PPV spot, then considered as a subtitle for WWE in October. I like Parka's idea for a poll to decide names for Sept & Nov. Edit by Patty for correctness! Edited August 6, 2004 by Patty O'Green
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2004 I'm all for sprucing up the names a bit, but let's honestly ask ourselves if we could say some of these out loud with a straight face. I'm glad Popick retained the License to Pin when he posted that thread because I don't think I could refer to a PPV as just "This Aint Oz".

LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2004 A long time back some friends and I were messing around and did sort of what we're doing here in the OAOAST. Here's a list of all the ppv names we ever came up with. Some suck, but maybe we can glean some ideas from this list: Total Annihilation Global Warfare Demolition Derby Champions of the Ring (It was a King of the Ring like PPV every year) Ring Wars Street Brawl Independence Day Summer Heat Rage in the Cage The Ultimate Brawl The Last Battle A Night to Remember Nothing to Lose Not sure if we can get anything from that, but that's just off the top of my head. Maybe I can come up with some more later.
Hoff 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2004 Chill graphic, Papa. I wasn't a fan of the tagline, but you made it into something VERY cool. Nice. Oh! And I too like using actual pics to represent our characters. It's kinda corny, but it's also a cool identifier to help us envision each other's characters. I'm glad Popick retained the License to Pin when he posted that thread because I don't think I could refer to a PPV as just "This Aint Oz". As I was once told years ago: It's an E-fed! Since I never take the blame for anything -- it's everybody's fault for walking around like zombies. If you don't like something, say it. And blame it on Popick. The people have spoken. The pics stay. They weren't going anywhere anyway, but it was something I pitched to Papacita as I was having trouble finding anything for the NNMX. I'll be contacting you in a few days about something, Parka.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2004 I know it's an efed, but it still bugs me when the names are goofy as hell. OAOAST and PPV names with "Angle" in them excluded because of the history and tradition of course. I look forward to whatever project you have for me. I love doing stuff like that. Tony149 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2004 Fuck me? Fuck you! Come on, you set me up for that one. I look forward to whatever project you have for me. I love doing stuff like that. In that case I'll throw in a special bonus. What I have in mind is probably something you can get done quickly, but who knows, maybe it'll spawn something else.
