IWA Schedule Changes

Recommended Posts

From the IWA message board...

IWA Mid-South Wrestling management has made a few schedule and lineup changes during the past few days. Here's the latest...

The scheduled event for Friday, August 13th at the National Guard Armory in Lafayette, Indiana has been removed from the schedule. The crew of wrestlers available for the event from the beginning was to be rather scaled back, due to many on the IWA roster having previous commitments to wrestle elsewhere on the date. Over the course of this weekend, a few additional last minute talent cancellations then made it virtually impossible to put together a lineup that would justify Lafayette's ticket prices. We apologize for this change to those fans who had planned on making the trip for the show. IWA will return to the Lafayette venue on Friday night, September 24th, one week after the Ted Petty Invitational tournament.

IWA Mid-South is back in action with its next event on Saturday night, August 21st, at the Lincoln Center (2450 Lincoln Street) in Highland, Indiana. The Lincoln Center is located just minutes outside of Chicago. Tickets are $20, $15, and just $10 general admission, and will be available at the door.

Here is the updated lineup of matches for 8/21 in Highland...

***Fan Lumberjack Strap Match***

MAD MAN PONDO vs. "Mr. Insanity" TOBY KLEIN

***IWA Light Heavyweight Title Match***

[Champion] DELIRIOUS vs. JIMMY JACOBS

***Grudge Match From 7/31***

IAN ROTTEN vs. "Metalhead" STEVE STONE

***Special Tag Team Challenge Match***

NIGEL McGUINNESS & CHAD COLLYER vs. DANNY DANIELS & BJ WHITMER

CHRIS HERO vs. "American Dragon" BRYAN DANIELSON

"Anarchist" ARIK CANNON vs. "The Notorious 187" HOMICIDE

CM PUNK vs. "The New Age Punisher" B-BOY

Plus more stars of the IWA in action! More details to follow during the remaining days before the event. Call the IWA hotlines at 502-569-1701 in Louisville, and 630-585-3958 in Chicago.

Guest j.o.b. squad

why do they insist on sadleing klein with pondo in non light tube matches pondo is only good with lighttubes and other weapons to swing.

if they want to do a lumberjack strap match replace pondo with corp or necro and it woude be 10 times better

Every match here is interesting to me except for Pondo/Klein. Tag match sounds like a lot of fun potentially. Punk is a fine sub for Joe, and I'm just glad B-Boy will still be there. Really looking forward to Ian/Stone and (duh) Hero/Dragon.

Too bad about the 8/13 show, but when no card had been announced yet you knew it would be axed.

I'd actually rather see Punk/B-Boy than Joe/B-Boy.

Can't wait for 8/21!

Matt Sydal vs. Nate Webb added to a GREAT card. Here's the official word:

A few notes on the upcoming 8/21 Highland card...

* Matt Sydal vs. "Spyder" Nate Webb in light heavyweight action has been added to the card! Though these two men have faced one another in the past in IWA competition, this will be the first time they do battle in front of the Highland crowd.

* IWA World Heavyweight Champion Petey Williams will not be able to make an appearance on 8/21 to defend the title due to prior obligations.

* The bell time for the event is 7:30pm, not 7:00pm as incorrectly listed here on the web site yesterday. Fans can take note that beginning in October, we will be moving the Highland events to 7:00pm start times, so as to better accomodate the length of the shows, and get fans home a little earlier than they have been. Again, 8/21 and TPI will remain 7:30pm bell times. The switch will go into effect in October.

Below is the up to date card for 8/21 in Highland...

Jimmy Jacobs/Delirious is still for the IWA Light Heavyweight Title, but now Jacobs is going in as champion, as he won it tonight from Delirious at a CCW show in Evansville. Ian Rotten's been booking there for a while now.

I don't really see the point of this. I'd much rather have Delirious as champ than Jacobs, who hasn't really impressed me in any non-Shelley matches.

I've read a theory that the Evansville title change was possibly an attempt at boosting attendance there. Gives people the thought that an outside title might actually change hands . People peobably went into that show thinking 'Oh, Delirious isn't going to lose the title on some CCW show in Evansville' . Now they know to expect possibly anything, I guess.
