Special K Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 I really, really, hope this is the shit. Final Fantasy VII was one of the most successful games of all time, and it looks like they're trying to do it justice. People gripe (and rightly so) about square making shitty games *comparitively*, but they have been careful about this franchise. here's hoping they make a full-fledged pre/sequel.
Guest SP-1 Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Unless I'm mistaken, this is a CG movie, not a game. It's supposed to be a sequel. It should be hitting DVD later this year.
chaosrage Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Unless I'm mistaken, this is a CG movie, not a game. It's got a lot in common with FF7 already.
Special K Posted August 10, 2004 Author Report Posted August 10, 2004 I know it's a movie. Don't think I would start a thread if I didn't know that. With this and their mini-prequel on the cell phones, though, I hope it creates enough momentum for a full fledged gaming addition to the FFVII universe. Do you really think FFVII is all movie? it's like 1/5-1/4 story sequences, if we're talking the Xeno series, I'd understand. FFVII had gobs of gameplay and a good story to back it up.
LaParkaYourCar Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 No FFVII wasn't that bad about CG Sequences and the ones it did have were pretty cool. Now Metal Gear Solid 1 & 2...those were some CG Sequence heavy games.
Renegade Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 I'll probably download it when it comes out. I can do with a good laugh.
chaosrage Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 Do you really think FFVII is all movie? it's like 1/5-1/4 story sequences, if we're talking the Xeno series, I'd understand. FFVII had gobs of gameplay and a good story to back it up. XG had very little CG. Xenosaga, yeah, but it sucked. FF7 had pretty much the same gameplay of FF6 with a crappy half assed story that made it seem like they didn't even try on it. All of the characters were flat and had weak development. Cloud was emotionless and probably the most boring character I've ever played. But it was okay as a movie. It seemed like they went into it with the attitude of movie first, gameplay and story second. Not that it wasn't a smart move, they made plenty of money from it. It sold a lot because Sony hyped it with commercials full of FMV. Half the people I know who bought it didn't have any idea what a RPG was and thought the whole game would be just like the commercial. (Then half of that group hated it because it was a RPG and the other half call it the best rpg ever and post on gamefaqs today) And you gotta admit that without FMV FF7 is pretty bare. Strangely enough, the best thing about the game imo was the ending where all the people died, not just because it was different, but because it fit the theme and tied the game together perfectly, which Advent Children is saying never happened.
Kardo Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 XG had very little CG. Xenosaga, yeah, but it sucked. Xenogears didn't have much CG but it did have endless amount of confusing talking.
Lil' Bitch Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 I'm glad they made the movie. The ending to FF VII fucking sucked, IMO.
