JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2004 http://www.paradisecityninjas.bravehost.co...lcanogirls.html I just got done reading this, and it's a FANTASTIC review. I REALLY want to see that six man elimination match now.
Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted August 10, 2004 I liked the review. I like the PCN's stuff alot, but sometimes they seem to hate on ROH for no apparent reason at all. Particularly the fans. They seem to sweep all of us under the "more concerned about themselvs than the match" blanket statement, when in reality it's a very small percentage of the fans who do that. (Belt boy, Philly's Finest) Aside from that, I really like their reviews.
JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2004 Yeah, it's not good to stereotype entire fan groups. I suppose there are idiots at any indy show you go to.
Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted August 10, 2004 There are idiots everywhere. My theroy is that they just happen to be drawn to pro wrestling. They're the yang to our yin, If you will...
Nevermortal 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2004 Well, I am more concerned at laughing at my friends' comments than watching the show, so they're partially right. :-)
JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2004 As far as the topic of the show goes, I think doing all-women's shows is still a big risk for IWA-MS. I want to get this show for the elimination match and the tag match, and the fact that it has great women's wrestling is just a huge bonus. Hopefully, though, after I see this show I'll be more into women's wrestling, because I don't think I've ever seen it done really well.

See, if you are actually wanting to get into GOOD women's wrestling, then go the Japan route with Joshi.....that's the best women's wrestling you will EVER see. Also keep in mind that these could be the best women wrestling in the entire country and it still doesn't matter......it wouldn't be as good as the stuff they do or did over in Japan. Guest Jay Z. Hollywood Report post Posted August 10, 2004 Hey guys, Just figured I'd pop in here real quick to talk about the ROH statement. What I was referring to was following Epic Encounter (which deserved the heat it got, it was great) ROH fans in Philly seemed to be using it as a "fad" rather than actual heat to the wrestlers (specifically the Carter/Stryker match, which I thought was dull as shit.) It wasn't so much a slam on their fanbase in general, just some of the annoying habits the Philly fans have. So I promise next time I'll check my wording better. I'm actually going to the ROH show on the 28th in Boston (Boston has GREAT fans for ROH btw) since I've softened my stance on them post-RF scandal and the fact that they did the right thing by Jimmy Rave by giving him his bookings back. Plus I've also got friends in real life who are huge ROH fans and are dying to catch a live show, and real-life friendships are more important than stupid 'Net stances I've taken in the past year or so. I am NOT going to deny that there is a strong anti-ROH/pro-IWA and Wildside slant on the site among the existing staff, because there is. However, PCN does recognize we need to present a fair look at all indies, which is why guys like myself and Pat McGovern don't review ROH for the site, and we brought on Rob Naylor to handle that end. We've also openly gone looking for other ROH writers (DK, are you going to revise your Night of Champions review? If you do, we'll put it on.) -PCN is all about supporting indy wrestling and having fun, that's always been the mission statement of my buddies and I, so if we do something that seems overly 'Net smarkish, feel free to call us on that like you did here. Now I must go, my planet needs me. -Jay

Cuban Linx 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2004 Good to see a review of the actual Hero/B-Boy/Homicide vs Punk/Whitmer/Joe match, i've seen plenty of pimping of the show in general and Mickie/Martinez but nothing specific on that match until now. The show should be in my hands any day now so i'll be eager to finally see the show for myself.
Michrome 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2004 I liked the review of the 6-man. I think I'm going to pick up the show for it. I think the PCN guys just like IWA and Wildside more than ROH, the same way I like ROH more than those 2. Whatever your natural beliefs are will always bleed out in your work, no matter how much ya try to hide it. I remember reviewing Joe/Punk and saying it smoked Hero/Punk (which it did ), and then realizing people would see it as anti-IWA bias. Just a natural thing I guess. Speaking of the Boston show, the undercard looks to be shaping up great. I'll go start a thread on it.
