Guest Harry, Archie and Gus Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 Two questions: 1. Would you recommend any of the following IWAMS tapes: No Blood, No Guts, No Glory 2002 Ted Petty Invitational Tournament 2002 When Hero Met Punk Best of IWA Mid South in 2001 Best of IWA Mid South in 2002 2. Would you recommend any 3PW or CZW 2004 shows?
JoeDirt Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 1. Yes. All of them. 2. Don't know about 3PW, but from what I hear CZW Best of the Best 4 is completely worth it. And if you like sick deathmatch stuff then TOD3 would be right up your alley.
Guest Dan 420 Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 No Blood, No Guts, No Glory 2002 - Butcher/Pondo 200 light tube is probably one of the sickest death matches ever. Necro fucks his arm up in ways you wouldn't imagine. Very nasty...Also on the card was Ace Steel vs Tarek the Great, Ian Rotten vs Dysfunction (Ian beats the absolute shit out of him), Chris Hero vs Matt Murphy and Bobby Eaton & Mark Wolf/Mean Mitch Page & Rollin Hard. I highly recommend it. Ted Petty Invitational Tournament 2002 - The drunken deathmatch will probably bore you out of your mind because of how long it drags but beside that, excellent show. When Hero Met Punk - Not much outside of Punk/Hero. The match is a tad bit overrated but I still think it's a show you should go out of your way see. Definately if your a big IWA mark.
DCMaximo Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 Recommended CZW shows: Divide And Conquer: Had the Trifecta Elimination tournament for entry into Best Of The Best 3, which I kinda preferred to the actual BOTB, a decent Nick Berk/Tony Mamaluke submission match, a good main event (H8 Club vs B-Boy and Messiah) and a ***3/4 Trent Acid/Nick Mondo match for the Iron Man title Cage Of Death V: A great all-round show: Main event, if you haven't seen or heard about it, is an incredible spectacle, one hell of a hardcore spotfest. Sonjay/Ruckus is, in my opinion, Ruckus' best match for ages, Acid/Rave is decent, Cash/Joker is another jaw-dropping spotfest and the 3-way between B-Boy, Alex Shelley and Chris Hero is also spectacular. I wrote a review of the show for shootingstarpress.com, but the site hasn't been updated in months, so I'll probably put it in the Fantasy Booking folder soon. EDIT: I've actually added it now- you can find it at this helpful link Apocalypse is also decent; good Jimmy Rave/Chris Hero match and the four way with Roderick Strong/Alex Shelley/Dan Maff/B-Boy is awesome
tekcop Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 I don't recommend the Best of '02 tape just because two of the matches you'll already have if you get the first two tapes, besides other than, like, two more matches the rest of the tape sucks.
Phoenix Fury Legdrop Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 I liked the Best of 2002 tape; outside of Rey Jr. half-assing it against Ace Steel and the Corp/Pondo match, I didn't think anything was outright not worth buying the tape over.
Guest Dan 420 Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 I'd recommend CZW TOD 3 from 24/7/04. A very good deathmatch tourney with a breakout star in Sexxy Eddy.
JoeDirt Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 It's funny how we have IWA-MS fans here, ROH fans, CZW fans too...but nobody is a 3PW fan. Where are all the 3PW fans at? *Looks around*
Guest Markingout Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 JAxl wuvs him some 3P dub. IWA of today > IWA of 2002. (Cept 2002 TPI owned 2003 TPI)
Guest Dan 420 Posted August 18, 2004 Report Posted August 18, 2004 IWA wasn't that bad in 2002. Back then they didn't often use the top workers that are used today like Hero, Danielson, Aries, Syndal, AJ etc. but they still had some awesome stuff. The riots and bloodbaths were great
